Re: Mutual Funds by AncestralPowers: 8:53pm On Apr 10
It is good to understand how fund managers operate and invest our money for maximum profits.

To all investors, it is good to have some emergency funds in a normal savings account, funds you could easily withdraw in few minutes, particularly if you know you gonna need the money in a very short period of time, and if the money isn't much or below 5 million naira.

The most attractive feature of mutual fund is the liquidity, but sometimes, fund managers don't find it easy to liquidate funds they have already invested in high yield instruments, as most fund managers often like to invest most of their funds for maximum profits.

It takes some time for fund managers to pay out fund, they sometimes have to wait to get funds from new depositors, instead of liquidating an already invested funds to pay investors....

Make I tag Creditalerts

😅😂😂
Re: Mutual Funds by AncestralPowers: 12:17pm On Apr 11
You will get your money, no need to inform SEC. Stanbic keeping huge cash to enable them pay customers who wants to withdraw their money is also affecting their ability to maximise profits and give investors better rates. Smaller fund managers don't have this issues like stanbic, in fact, the massive fund under stanbic is a big burden and obstacle to them, and same time a blessing.

it's gone, the latest upgrade removed other MMF😅they only have cowrywise MMF now ,we are lucky to invest through them with trustbanc because I enjoy their transparency .

Re: Mutual Funds by Care4: 9:30am On Apr 12
Your daily return is based on the day's rate

Thazard:
Please i have a question.

If I invest 2 million at today's rate of 20.52% and tomorrow, the rates keeps dropping down till the end of my tenor.

Will that affect the rate i invested on?
Re: Mutual Funds by Care4: 9:35am On Apr 12
If all you're investing is 5M, 2 classes is best. Depending on your risk appetite:
Aggressive: EMF & Balanced (50/50, or 60/40)
Moderate: fixed income & balanced (60/40)
Conservative: fixed income & balanced. (70/30)

This is given for perspective. Do your own research.

bassdow:
No matter the Asset manager e.g Stanbic , Norrenberger, firstAlly, etc, so long it's MMF, the interest rate is not static. It changes on daily basis hence there's no guarantee an interest rate of 20.52% on Monday morning wouldn't go higher or lower by evening of same day.

If you wanna lock in rates, better go with the likes of FGN bonds, Treasury bills BUT those doesn't support automatic compounding.

In other words, that you started with an interest rate of 20.52% doesn't guarantee it would remain at that. it could go higher or lower or very lower or very higher depending on state of the economy.

AnyOne looking for inSane interest rates should go on their Knees on top the highest mountain and pray for the economy to really go bad the CBN would have to raise interest rates.

NB: if you get mind, and willing to tae the cool risk, you could split said funds into 5 parts and invest 1 million naira in MMF, invest 250,000 naira in Stanbic IBTC's Nigerian Equity Fund , another 250,000 naira in Ethical Fund , another 250,000 naira in Imaan Fund , then the remaining 250,000 naira in Balanced Fund

mind you after doing the above, be prepared to leave the funds for at least 1-year or 1-year 6-months and if your heart ain't strong enough, don't look at them for those periods as it can be going up and down BUT even if it's in Negative, so long you don't attempt to REDEEM, it's still not a LOSS. They all have the capacity to really earn yyou much higher than MMF but you have to give them at least +1Year

Instead of this fluctuations, isn't piggybank safelock better?
If you're cool with safe locks, then you can invest directly in t-bills and bonds and earn your full rates.
Re: Mutual Funds by Care4: 9:37am On Apr 12
Check well, that's likely before they deduct their fees.

mank1234:
I see STL and Trustbanc MMF give rate in excess of 19% whereas other like Stanbic gives below 16%.

Considering that treasury bill hovers around 16%, how is STL able to generate this high rate?

Does anyone have link to their factsheet? I have not seen their factsheet in the online app.

What's the rate for t - bills and bond?

Am I guaranteed to get both my capital and interest?

I chatted them. They said WYSIWYG. What I see topped up to my 5k investment correlates with my calculations.

On the question of how they are able to pay higher, they sent to me their factsheet but I'm unable to interpret well. As at December: 0.7% cash, 20.6% commercial paper, 25,1% treasury bills, 53.6% fixed deposits. The returns from each of this instrument wasn't mentioned.
65% of the instruments were maturing within 0-90days, 28% 91-180days,
7% 181-364days. And the YTD return was 20.67% against benchmark of 17.21%.
Can you make meaning from these numbers?

Hi guys, who has had deposit issue with gtfunds? I deposited 400k since March 30th, and till today it has not reflected in my mutual funds. I have sent emails to them, including payment receipt, but they don’t seem to be helping. Anyone has a contact of the boss that can help with this? Thank you.
Re: Mutual Funds by AncestralPowers: 1:28pm On Apr 12
Did you indicate your customer ID on the narration when sending the money?

In fact, most fund managers had been battling and struggling on how to trace and locate investors deposit into their mutual fund accounts, because some new investors often forget to write ✍️ their customers ID on the narration when sending money.

It is not always the fund managers who are slow in responding to our requests, some of us don't just follow the right procedures to make things easier for us and fund managers.

What is the meaning of this u just wrote? Which fund manager send u? Pls stop making excuses for incompetence! Even if the customer made a mistake is that why the fund manager shouldn't respond to emails?? I use Gt fund manager & they don't use customer ID, temporary deposit account number is generated for every deposit, no id or narration is required. Stop making s!lly excuse for incompetence here!

Someone complain about this same issue some weeks back with GT fund manager. I have not made any recent deposit to gt. I think u should copy SEC since they are not responding to emails. Since March 30th is 2 weeks already. Name on account number is GT squad right?
