Anyway, thanks for conceding that no invention came from Christianity study.

The Bible doesn't have prohibitions for dogma or studies that conflicts with it.
Islam through the Quran has prohibitions that inhibit innovation. Example riba (usury) , stem cell research, evolution ..
Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by basilico:
I'll mention riba

Riba in Arabic is interest on loans. The prophet needed money to run his raiding caravans. He borrowed money from some people including Jewish traders.
He didn't want to pay back with interest, ( I doubt he even repaid his loans). Allah to the rescue. He got one or more revelations that interest on loans was exploitative. After which interest on loans in Islam was banned till today.
(If you look carefully at Islam, you see Allah conveniently coming to the rescue of his prophet many times).

There are PhD programs in Islamic bankng with specific emphasis on interest free loans. Banks have Sharia compliant loans in their products to Muslims.

I am told that you need a lot of money to invent or innovate almost everything. Ban on riba is a huge stumbling block.

I don't like talking about Islam, so I'll switch back to bashing liberals. Supporting Trump and hating Obama for his sympathies to Muslim terrorists.

Actual interest is a trap which is why it has to be regulated or else all the money would belong to the banks. I think the ban on interest is the right way to proceed. You want money to be working not just sitting in a bank acquiring exorbitant interest.

He asked a stewpid question.

I've discussed Islam religions practices that stiffle innovation like having half their population locked up in homes,
Christians invented a lot of stuff without being hindered by the biblical teachings. Unlike Muslims who are forbidden to go into some areas.

They still have interest ,they call it a contract , paying back and reimbursing the costs associated with the loan.

Without interest there'd be no banks. How banks handle loans and repayments is another matter,banks are critical to any economy.

Not sure Tinubu even legally won.

But in the US it is a structural problem.
The electoral college gives more representation to smaller states.
California, population ~40 million, has 54 electoral votes and has 2 senatorial votes
Massachusetts, population ~8 million, has 10 electoral votes and has 2 senatorial votes
Wyoming, populations 540 thousand, has 3 electoral votes and has 2 senatorial votes.
Tinubu got 10 million votes. My Obi and that Atiku got 6.5m votes each. Who won?

I do not see a problem with each state having 2 senatorial votes, and to be honest, neither with the electoral college, since it's not like a new thing recently introduced. I think its my patience though, that makes my view differ to yours, because, just a majority inconsequential majority vote against a useless president undermines eventually, how much so an overwhelming vote against.

Buy hey. I'm twisted when it comes to USA, I must admit. You lot are entertaining and wouldn't surprise me voting repugnicants after dump except that my faith in We The People is undying in the long run and blinds me seeing the most of you being like the few here, or like some Nigerians for that matter, who want to boycott elections.

Mamdani singles out wealthy white new Yorkers .

NYC Mayor's Racist Wealth Grab Exposed: Cherry-Picking Stats to Punish Whites

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani just rolled out his preliminary Citywide Racial Equity Plan, and it's a masterclass in divisive leftist politics. In his push for "equity," Mamdani zeroed in on one statistic while ignoring the rest: "The wealth of a median white household in the city is more than $200,000, while that of a black household is less than $20,000." He blamed decades of "racism" and vowed to center government policy around fixing this gap through hundreds of agency goals and strategies.

But sharp critics in a viral video are calling out the blatant hypocrisy. One woman nailed it: "Zohran Mamdani failed to mention what the Asian families make, what the Hispanic family makes, what a Russian family makes. He only pointed out what a white person makes. We need to take from the white family and give to the black family."

She's right. Official data shows Asian households often outpace whites in income and wealth, yet Mamdani's plan glosses over that to laser-focus on whites as the villains. This isn't about lifting people up—it's about tearing successful groups down under the guise of fairness.

Another pointed observer drove home the absurdity: "Many black people live in subsidized housing in New York City. If they make too much money, they'll be kicked out of their subsidized housing, so they want to make a certain amount so they continue to live in their subsidized housing. If we're talking about how much people make on their race, why don't we look into the NBA team there in New York City? How much do the black players make versus the white players? And how many more black players are on the team than white players? Hmm. Maybe he should look into that and maybe throw a little bit of Asian basketball players on the NBA team. Zohran Mamdani, what he said is pretty darn racist if you ask me."

Exactly. When race gaps favor minorities—like in the NBA, where black athletes dominate high-paying rosters—suddenly "equity" talk vanishes. No demands to "diversify" the league or cap black success. But let whites pull ahead in median wealth through hard work, family stability, and culture, and it's time for government redistribution.

This plan reeks of socialism: punish achievement, reward dependency, and divide New Yorkers by skin color. Subsidized housing traps people in low earnings to keep benefits flowing, yet Mamdani skips real cultural fixes like strong families and personal responsibility. Instead, he pushes race-based engineering that echoes failed communist experiments.

New York voters handed power to this radical.

He's my favourite heretic.

Educate us please, name your favorite heretic.

Here's mine.

Giordano Bruno born1548, tried for heresy by the Roman Inquisition and burnt at the stake in Rome's Campo be' Fiori on 17 February 1600.

Charges made against Bruno by the Roman Inquisition were:

holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith and speaking against it and its ministers;

holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith about the Trinity, divinity of Christ, and Incarnation;

holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith pertaining to Jesus as Christ;

holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith regarding the virginity of Mary, mother of Jesus;

holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith about both Transubstantiation and Mass;

claiming the existence of a plurality of worlds and their eternity;

believing in metempsychosis and in the transmigration of the human soul into brutes;

dealing in magics and divination.

Besides, Isis/ Boko Haram are not representative of Islam, and claiming it is is like saying the doctrine of Westboro Baptist is the only Christianity, because Fred Phelps the descended from Jesus!

Really?

1. The Immobility of the Earth
The most famous conflicts, such as the Galileo Affair, centered on the idea that the Earth moves. Critics used several "proofs" from the Old Testament to argue that the Earth is fixed in place.

Psalm 104:5

"He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved."
This was perhaps the most cited verse against Nicolaus Copernicus and Galileo Galilei. If the Bible says the Earth cannot be moved, the heliocentric theory (Earth revolving around the Sun) was viewed as a direct contradiction of divine revelation.

Psalm 93:1

"...The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved."
Similar to Psalm 104, this was used to provide a physical "fact" about the stability of the globe.

1 Chronicles 16:30

"Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved."

2. The Motion of the Sun
To the observers of the time, the Sun appeared to "rise" and "set." Scientific theories suggesting it was the Earth moving instead were countered with verses describing the Sun’s movement.

Joshua 10:12–13

"On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: 'Sun, stand still over Gibeon...' The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day."
Martin Luther and other religious leaders famously argued that for Joshua to command the Sun to stand still, the Sun must have been the object in motion to begin with.

Ecclesiastes 1:5

"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises."
This verse was used to support the Ptolemaic system, which claimed the Sun orbited the Earth daily.

3. The Structure of the Heavens
The concept of "the firmament" was often used to push back against atmospheric or astronomical discoveries that suggested an infinite or vacuum-filled space.

Genesis 1:6–7

"And God said, 'Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.' ...God called the vault 'sky.'"
Early interpretations suggested a physical dome (the firmament) held back literal water. When astronomers began suggesting the heavens were fluid or empty space, it challenged the literalist view of a solid cosmic structure.

4. The Origin of Life and Humanity
With the publication of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species in 1859, the focus shifted from physics to biology.

Genesis 1:26–27

"Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness...'"
This was (and is) the primary verse used to deny Evolutionary Theory. The argument is that if humans share a common ancestor with primates, they cannot be uniquely created "in the image of God."

Thank to immigration the U.S. economy has grown substantially in absolute terms from roughly $542 billion in 1960 to over $29 trillion in 2024

In 1960 we didn't have the unrivaled tech giants, the biotech leadership, the medical innovation and what not. Immigrants prop up americas health care system and tech industry (at the minimum)

Why do these racists want to go back to an era of mediocrity so badly?

And now because the minority party controls the white house, Supreme court and Congress, they can allow things like political gerrymandering which makes it even less democratic and more controlled by the minority party.

There are other ways to balance things out. Any method which allows a minority victory is simply not democracy. Democracy is majority victory with minority rights. Minority victory turns everything on its head.

How is it a minority victory, in each state, you have to win the majority.

The states come together as a union to decide not a single state.
