Urgent help!
My firm in Netherlands told me to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate and even gave me the link to apply:
https://www.gateway.ng/Nigeria-Police-Report

My question: is the Police Clearance Certificate different from Police Character Certificate? This gateway.ng are demanding £130 but most of guys here are paying around $54 through the possap website. Does anybody understand the difference between the documents or are they same? Has anybody applied through the gateway.ng? Please help!
Gateway= Agency Vs POSSAP= DIY

Hello everyone, I am trying to do a PCC for my son via the possap portal (diaspora). He was a minor when the NIN was done hence i used my phone number for him. Now while trying to create an account/profile for him on the POSSAP portal, i am getting the message "this number exists for someone else". Please has anyone been in this situation, kindly advise.

"User Details!
Another user with this phone number already exists."

Hi,

Does anyone know how to resolve the error message “enter valid phone number” (see snap below) when using BVN in the POSSAP website?

Is there a specific format to use when entering number? +234? 00234? 090?

Thanks in advance.

Hi thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I don’t have NIN and it is currently not possible to get one in my current location in the far east as NIMC system has been down since June (ve been to OIS service twice).

Is there any workaround to the issue when using BVn?

Hi all, I encountered issue while doing my PCC, the phone number linked to my BVN is an old one that is no longer in use. I have actually contacted Union bank countless times to change the number but no resolution since, they kept saying my account office will be in touch, this is going to 4 months now. I’m trying to fill mine now, but I don’t know when I’m going to get it. My agent seems to be in a hurry for me to do it right away, so I’m not sure when to come out. You know how things get delayed in Nigeria. When you were doing yours, did it come out quickly?

Getting a Nigerian Police Clearance Certificate (Police Character Certificate) the same day is challenging, as standard processing takes 1–3 working days, but visiting the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, early in the morning with all documents can allow for urgent, same-day processing

We can chat here because I don’t have access to the Gmail you’re sending messages to. I’m currently having an issue, I have submitted everything and made the payment, but they are telling me that the phone number linked to my NIN does not match the one I’m using now.

That means I did not update my phone number to my current one, so they are unable to send me the address of the place where I am supposed to meet them. Someone also contacted me about that.

I was told to send my current phone number so they could update it, and I did. I have already completed that process, but it is still showing as “unpaid” even though it had shown “successful” before. So right now, I’m confused and don’t know what is going on.

And it seems like I'm going to pay another fee again but I don't know if I should change the nin phone number first before proceeding with another payment of the police character certificate?

So I need your advice on this

It is understandable to be confused, but based on common issues with the Nigeria Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal, do not pay another fee yet. The "unpaid" status after a successful payment often indicates a temporary system glitch or a synchronization issue between the payment platform and the POSSAP portal.

1. Address the Payment Status First
Before modifying your NIN data, try to resolve the "unpaid" status on POSSAP.
Check Transaction History: Re-check your bank statement to confirm the payment was not reversed.
Use the "Reprocess" Button: Sometimes, the portal has a "Reprocess" or "Verify Payment" button in the "Requests" or "Dashboard" section.
Contact Support Immediately: Send an email to POSSAP support with your Application ID, Payment Reference Number (from Remita/bank), and a screenshot of the payment receipt.
Wait for 24-48 Hours: Technical glitches often resolve themselves, and the status may change back to "successful"

2. Update NIN Phone Number (If Necessary)
If your initial registration was done with a phone number you no longer have access to, changing it is crucial for receiving updates.
NIMC Self-Service: You can update your NIN phone number via the NIMC self-service portal (selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng).
Requirements: You may need a police report confirming the change of phone number to update it on the NIMC database.
Why Do This Second: If the POSSAP system has already finalized the initial submission, changing the NIN number now might not fix the "unpaid" status, but it will help with future, new applications.

3. Do Not Pay Again Yet
Changing your NIN phone number does not require you to pay another fee for the Police Character Certificate itself. The NIN modification has its own small fee (approx. ₦1,522.50), while re-registering for the PCC will cost you the full, high amount again.

Do not pay for the PCC again.
Email POSSAP with your proof of payment.
If you still cannot receive SMS, update your phone number on the NIN Self-Service portal.
Visit the nearest FCID or State Command (if you applied online) with your printed receipt to verify your status in person if online support is slow.
