Gov Makinde, Oba Ladoja Fault Fayose On Dethronement Plot by politicoNG(op): 10:57am On Apr 13

The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have faulted former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, over a reported plot to dethrone Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The duo, in separate reactions through their media aides, described the alleged plot as an unfounded and baseless rumour.

The former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, wrote on his X handle that Governor Seyi Makinde was plotting to remove Ladoja as Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He also stated that Ladoja would be issued a query for not attending the elevation ceremony of High Chief Sharafadeen Ali to the status of Obas in Ibadan last week.

When contacted, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said the government had never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.

He said, “By now, Nigerians know who and what to believe, especially when the information comes from a particular quarter.

“Oyo State Government has never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.

“There has to be a credible motive for every government action, and this, coming from the unofficial spokesman of our opponents, is better put in the refuse dump where it belongs.

“Desperate politics foists thoughtless propaganda and reduces democracy into a joke.”

Also, the media aide to Oba Ladoja, Adeola Oloko, described the statement credited to Fayose as an unfounded and baseless rumour.

He said there is no rift between Governor Makinde and the monarch to warrant such claims.

According to him, “It will be most unfortunate if it is not a rumour.

“I don’t see any cause for friction between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

Rumour or plot, they should sha handle the issue amicably.

Oyo state at this present need to be careful in how they handle issue. It's O.Y.O, I do not see any other SW states that would be interested to intervene.

My arguments right from the onset.

The logic is, even if Kwam 1, is from Awujale royal family, should he have been showing interest to be the new Awujale if not because of the strong rejection.

Same is applicable to the current Olubadan. A former politician, might even be present, add ruggedity to it as the King, even if he's from a royal family. Why

House wey dey in peace, you should know the rest.

Oyo state should be very careful in handling their issues. As for the Alaafin, let me still reserve my reservation because the logic is mutual across the other SW states

The Lisabi day is nothing more like freedom from the Oyo empire. So as how other places have the same mentality based on the past.

Fayose has been acting as Wike's attack dog for a while now. We all know the reason behind his cho cho cho in Oyo State's affairs. Fayose is Wike's friend, Seyi Makinde is Wike's rival. Because of money, a whole former governor has turned himself to Wike's boy boy. What's the business of Ekiti man with Olubadan's stool? SMH

The best Fayose can do to retain his once revered image is to zip his mouth.
Yes he might owe allegiance to the APC government in one way or the other but he should think his image and integrity beyond the emilikan era ,Fayose still has the chance of being useful to himself and the Nigerian masses.

I don't like Fayose but he revealed the amount of money paid into the Oyo state government coffers for the disaster that happened at bodija.

We never knew anything about the money till Fayose revealed the truth.

It is good for Yoruba Youths to understand the Traditional diplomacy that is playing out

Fayose has just used what Yoruba call ogbon
Agba to repair and reverse a potentially very damaging decision before it was carried out

Historically in the past Yoruba Obas used the tactic a lot in diplomacy to force their opponent to show his hand and to get mutual friends and allies to reverse the decision through persuasion

After Fayose revelation a lot of background work would have gone on underground with people like Ooni Obasanjo and Tinubu phoning up Makinde and Ladoja to mend fences and repair things

What you are seeing now is the outcome .
That is why their announcements came out at the same time saying the same thing.

Give it a few months and you will start hearing the story of what went on behind the scenes to reconcile them both

Fayose is a real and wise thief. He is probably the richest Ekiti person alive. He stole so much over four years and was so smart that he cannot be caught.

Fayose is actually from Ibadan. He doesn't usually do baseless rumors. Something might be brewing. But putting it out there without solid evidence is classless.
