Our Reporter Reconstruction work on the critical Sagamu–Ijebu Ode–Ore–Benin Expressway is reaching an advanced stage, with noticeable achievements being recorded daily on key sections of the highway. The Federal Government’s intervention is aimed at restoring the strategic route that links the South-West to the South-South and South-East regions of the country. The project, approved by President Bola Tinubu, covers a total stretch of over 250 kilometres, beginning from the Sagamu Interchange and extending to Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State. The road is considered one of Nigeria’s busiest economic corridors. Work officially commenced in October 2024 following an inspection tour by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, alongside Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. The inspection underscored the urgency of rehabilitating the deteriorating highway to improve safety and economic activities. Currently, massive reconstruction is ongoing across several sections of the expressway, with a focus on rigid pavement using reinforced concrete for enhanced durability. Notable progress has been recorded between Sagamu Interchange and Ijebu Ode, where one carriageway is often open to traffic while work continues on the other. Construction efforts have intensified, with over 10 kilometres of newly completed sections already visible around Ijebu Ode. Work is also steadily advancing toward Ore and further down to Benin, reflecting significant momentum on the project. Motorists and commuters using the highway have commended the Federal Government for the quality and pace of the reconstruction. Many noted improvements such as durable concrete pavement, proper drainage systems, and proposed installation of solar-powered lighting along the route. Despite the ongoing construction, traffic flow has remained relatively smooth, although occasional slowdowns are experienced around active work zones. Traffic management measures have helped minimize disruptions for road users. As the project approaches completion, finishing works such as lane markings and final surface treatments are underway. The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to delivering the Lagos–Sagamu–Benin Expressway project on schedule, raising hopes for improved connectivity and safer travel across the regions.

Ballmer:Indeed. Let us see if even one of them will comment positively about the bolded below since they appear permanently fixated with bad news and averse to good news even when such benefits them immensely. Clearly Tinubu is doing everything to empower and please every region of Nigeria but I think he underestimates how hardened m like Stone, the hearts of some is. Ballmer:How many KM in total? When I personally criticised the Lagos-Calabar highway as too heavy to shoulder for Nigerians and redundant, these were some of the more pressing road i advocated for their repairs, but you n your likes coming here to boast as if Tinubu is doing the whole stretch of the road is malicious. |

WizardOfNG:Since the days of Gba.we to the days of Omoh.ayek to WizardOfNG, same partisan gibberish from you. If anything, these are the roads many Obidients actually criticized Tinubu for prioritising Lagos-Calabar highway over. Now it is clear the coastal highway of fraud cannot be campaigned with, they are fixing short portions of the old route and trying to pass it off as a big deal we must all applaud. If anything you and your oga should be apollogizing to obidients and Nigerians like me who heavily criticized wasteful projects you are now abandoning for this one. For your partisan brain sake, Lagos Calabar highway is around 10% of the mark after 37% of the time possibly available to tinubu to be president. Panicky Keyamo. Lol. |

CodeTemplar:@Ballmer. We no talk am? Some people are so predictable. They now say talking of transformative progress is "malicious". Comprehension issues, along with an obsession with automatically discrediting every good Tinubu does, is a troubling issue for some folks. If criticism should arrive, should it not be preceded by praises for infrastructural development effort, others had ignored for decades, by all progressive and well-meaning Nigerians? PBAT will keep shaming them sha. |

CodeTemplar:Oga, you are not making sense with the gibberish no one can understand. Tinubu will keep doing his thing and recording many firsts, as he has already done, to the displeasure of enemies of Nigeria's progress. |

WizardOfNG:same pattern since the days of GEJ. Always talking like a charge n bail lawyer on cheap cocaine. Tinubu should have started with these shorter and more important roads. After grinding to a halt on the wasteful Lagos-calabar highway, suddenly benin-shagamu is getting priority. Lol. I wont applaud clueless leadership. Reactionary policies and projects. Never. |

What is ongoing there is less than 20%. They haven't even completed half of one side of the road. Travelling on that road remains a nightmare and waste of one's productive hours. |

If he's doing Ore Benin Road, I can only commend him. To me Dave, the Minister of works is the Stand out performer of this administration. Kudos to him |

CodeTemplar:Work started on the Benin Ore Sagamu expressway in 2024. Work is massively ongoing on the different sections of the Lagos Calabar coastal highway at a fast pace. CRCP has been done on more than 90% of section one of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway |

Your Tinubu is supposed to be doing more than what he is currently owing to the fact that his government have more at it's disposal. It may interest you to know that this current Tinubu government is not subsidizing anything for Nigerians unlike what it used to be in the past. So this current government is raking in more money from subsidy removal on all things plus the excess borrowing. So someone of us expects more from this government. WizardOfNG: |

goslowgoslow:They have to work faster and fix up that road. From the way some people talk you would think that road was like Dubai roads when PDP was in power for 16 years but we all know it's not true. Seems they are doing the reconstruction right but they need to move a lot faster. |
