Fresh controversy has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following claims that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other party figures were suspended by a faction in Adamawa State.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has strongly rejected the move, describing those behind it as unserious and not worthy of attention.

Lawal Blasts Alleged Suspension
Reacting to the development, Lawal dismissed the announcement as baseless and accused those involved of acting irrationally.

Speaking on the issue, he said, “If some people take heavy Indian hemp, they can claim to be President of Nigeria, so don’t consider them as normal people. Indian hemp is at duty.”

He further questioned the authority of those behind the decision, adding, “Raji has no reasonable position in the ADC that empowered him to speak on behalf of the party.”

Lawal also criticised the action, saying, “Raji’s actions demonstrated the power of Indian hemp against our young men. What is his position in the party in Adamawa State, if not influence of drugs?”

Faction Announces Disciplinary Action
The controversy began after a factional figure, Raji Zumo, addressed journalists and declared the suspension of Atiku, Lawal, and the party’s transition committee chairman, Sadiq Ibrahim.

The announcement immediately triggered backlash within the party, with key stakeholders rejecting the move.

State Chairman Rejects Claim
Adamawa ADC chairman, Shehu Yohanna, also distanced the party from the suspension claim.

He described the statement as unfounded and questioned Zumo’s standing, stating, “Raji was my deputy, before he disappeared to an unknown place, only for him to resurface on social media on Monday, suspending our father, Atiku Abubakar.”

Babachir isn't the problem.... A man who can't handle the Party in his home shouldn't cry blue murder.

There were two factions really dealing with themselves last year.
Babachir backed Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin and Binani backed Saidu Komsiri.
Atiku backed an ex-aide to Gov Fintiri, Shehu Yohanna.
The ADC National backed Dasin.

By January this year, they all resolved to come together, and appointed Yohanna as their Chairman, whilst the factional chairman/Indian hemp smoker allegedly Zamo was Deputy to Yohanna.. Now, they were there and went to Court, through Yohanna, to stop ADC Committee from handling election of new EXCO. Court gave two orders for status quo.... Babachir ignored and went on with it.... Dasin was elected and the rest is history.

How can an Atiku and co be going to Court at the National to go on with their Convention that Court cannot dabble into internal affairs, yet in Adamawa, you backed your anointed Chairman to go to Court to stop it?

Babachir has done his thing and elected everyone of his persons without ceding anything to Atiku or Binani. Everyone knows that in election of Congresses et al, it is the National that decides... States are only to set up logistics. Whilst Northern States are preparing for Convention, Abia and Anambra ADC were the first to say they will obey Court order and not hold Congresses. Tomorrow, they will say Tinubu defeated them.

My own anger is that, they should give my own money and conduct only Governorship, I don't know how to say it again.

PS: I just gathered Abia & Anambra changed their minds and conducted on Saturday.
