Hi everyone, I’m a recovering gambling addict and I’m currently dealing with a large amount of debt. I feel quite overwhelmed and it’s affecting my ability to think clearly and plan properly. I would really appreciate any guidance or recommendations for debt counselling services, financial recovery support, or anyone experienced in helping people in similar situations. Even small advice on where to start would mean a lot right now. |

The fact that you called yourself a recovering addict and not a victim already tells me you have what it takes to come back. Most men never admit it. You did. That is the first act of strength. Now hear this. Debt is not your biggest problem right now. Your mind is. You said it yourself — you cannot think clearly. You cannot plan. That means before you attack the debt you must stabilise your mind. A confused man with a plan still fails. A clear man with even a small step moves forward. So here is where you start. Stop looking at the full debt. Looking at the total will paralyse you every time. Look only at today. What can you do today. One call. One application. One conversation. One step. That is all today requires. Find a Gamblers Anonymous meeting in your area. Free. No judgment. Men who have been exactly where you are and came back. The community will steady your mind faster than any financial plan will. Then and only then sit down and list every debt. Smallest to largest. Ignore the largest for now. Attack the smallest first. Every small debt you clear buys your confidence back. And confidence is what makes the next step possible. You do not need a counsellor to start. You need clarity. Clarity comes from movement not from waiting. You already moved by asking this question. Now take the next step. — Marcus Verum Vincram: |

marcusverum:Thank you so much and I appreciate you taking your time to reply. I am really struggling with the clear mind at this point, the debt is the only things I am thinking about and it is really holding me back. The first step actually is to get some income in. I really fell deep and lost all the ways I could make money but I will find a way to get some substantial income in so I can stay active and take my mind off the constant worry and then start paying off. |
