Tinubu knows if Atiku is on the ballot, most Northerners will vote for Atiku. Even with Buhari being President and endorsing Tinubu in 2023, Atiku won in Katsina state, and also the NE in general despite Shettima being from the region. With Peter Obi’s support, Atiku will floor Tinubu in the South as well. If the candidate was Peter Obi, he’ll definitely floor Tinubu in the South. With Atiku’s support and Kwankwaso being on the ballot, plus big players like El Rufai and Tambuwal putting in their weights, opposition will match Tinubu strength to strength and he’ll be on his way back to Bourdillon |

Though as wise as this advice may be, if the roles where changed and that Tinubu is in Atiku shoes, the Tinubu I know will gladly support a northerner to take over so long as the northerner promise him of relinquishing power to him. If it were not so, Tinubu would have supported Obi in 2023 to take over from Buhari for equity and justice knowing quite well that the SE is the only region yet to taste the presidency in the South Before someone will say that because of the hatred t for the cockcroach should the insects now vote for insecticide? Knowing quite well that every insects will be affected? Am from Ijaw SS, incase una wòn bring ethnic things. |

givedemwotowoto:The dynamics have changed. If you think that most states in Southern Nigeria will vote for an Atiku/Obi presidency after Buhari wasted 8 years in power, think again. The South, where most of the resources used to run this country come from, doesn't live to serve northerners. We know that a Nigerian Vice President is useless. Southern Nigeria deserves 8 years in power and I assure you that the ticket will find it difficult to beat Tinubu now. |

SmartPolician:Why did Tinubu not support Obi in 2023 knowing quite well that the SE is the only region yet to taste the presidency in the South? At least for equity and justice! |

Is Atiku in your party? Why did APC not respect PDP and Jonathan in 2015 and field a southerner to contest against Goodluck? The fact is that the South has had more years at the presidency than the North (since 1999). Obj 8 GEJ 2 + 4 =6 Tinubu 3* Yaradua 2 Buhari 8 Total for South is 17* Total for North is 10. So who has had more time at the presidency between the South and the North? |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by saintopus(op): 6:24am On Apr 17 |
Sheuns:Is the North- South arrangement about party? Since it's not about party leave the party that decides to pick their candidate from any region. |

SmartPolician:Well-said. Whatever the argument regarding whether Obi or Tinubu is best to lead from 2027, no Northerner should feature. We are not their slaves. The South is essentially all that is Nigeria. She sustains the North (VAT, crude oil allocation, local government funding, intervention budgeting for terrorism fight, IDP displacement etc) and gives Nigeria international glory and essence plus retain the peace and civility allowing it host over 70% of the FDI inflow into Nigeria. Are we to forget Nigeria is one of the most terrorised nation in the world, many nations advise their citizens to avoid, because of the North? At this point, and put before a non-Nigerian, the North seems to offer not much essentially to our nationhood yet some over there, Atiku and co, keep insisting they must rule even when that breaches a rotation agreement crucial to maintaining the peace, unity and stability of Nigeria The core North is no better than Niger Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso etal. If the region was not full of regressive empty barrel leaders, with confirmation of this coming from how Northerners have the worst human development index in the world, then they should be doing everything to placate the South to include respecting rotation. Their savings grace is the knowledge, with how Southerners have always displayed it publicly, folks in the South lack the unity of purpose to take the North to task. For that reason the North will always continue to do disrespectful things she should never contemplate, as Atiku is doing, if the South remains divided and emotionally unintelligent to the extent they cannot see the big picture. |

Onanuga will never comment on terrorism, corruption and evil government. But his voice has been louder these past weeks than it has been in 3 years. All because of elections. These people no rate us. They're power gobbling bastards. |

This people know something we don't know, at this point I'm considering supporting Atiku over Obi, maybe Obi should deputize Atiku Onanuga have been barking, Bwala have been gloating while tinubu have been spewing gibberish since the Atiku Interview |

givedemwotowoto:Tinubu losing 2027 election would not be the end of the world, and it would not magically turn Nigeria into an Eldorado like some of you try to make it. Whoever takes over from him will not bring dollar back to 400 naira, nor bring petrol subsidy back. Tinubu will forever be known as a former president of Nigeria even he if loses in 2027. My own worry is how a section of the North believes they own Nigeria, and how quickly they get uncomfortable whenever a Southerner is in power. This goes beyond Tinubu. They did it to Jonathan and even Obasanjo. Obasanjo was said to have prostrated to Atiku just to get a second term because Atiku threatened to contest against him in 2003, believing he (Atiku) could oust Obasanjo with the Northern votes. I have no problem with Obi or any Southerner going against Tinubu. If Obi wins 2027, I am perfectly fine with it. Southerners need to wise up and not fall for these Northerners. Any alliance made by the South with the North rarely last more than 8 years. The alliance expires the moment the Northern president completes his two terms, leaving the Southern VP empty-handed and a weak platform to launch their own presidential ambition. Rotational presidency is the only way out. |

saintopus:Why should Tinubu support Igbos in 2023? Did any Igbo, individually or as a group, approach Tinubu amicably to seek his assistance? How did Igbos go about their demand to "taste the Presidency"? With insults, blackmail, curses, large scale support for Kanu/IPOB and politics of hate/bitterness against Yorubas. Any reasonable adult will agree rotation of power is between North and South. It is not Igbos alone who have not "tasted" power out of many ethnic groups of the South. If Igbos wish to be the flagbearer during the slot of the South, they work and negotiate for it especially on the aspect of things related to bridge-building. Blackmail, conflict, coups, war, insurrection, insults and threats, which is their historical default tool to seek what they want, will not give them the Presidential ticket when it is the turn of the South. As things stand, I will be supporting the SS when it is the turn of the South in 2039 because, in the spirit of aura for aura and energy for energy, what Igbos have shown Yorubas clearly make it obvious they do not mean us well and would always seek options that is punitive to the wellbeing and progress of Yorubas. |

Forget, a Fulani will always be Fulani. Nigeria hasn't yet healed from what Buhari did , even to the extent of Tinubu being in power, do we know the evil agreement this people signed in secret. See where we are as a nation. Obi Kwakwanso is the best for now with Atiku support, anything short of that is dead. Buhari tried for many years, later won and failed completely. Let a Fulani man there, you will see the resurgence of Fulani superiority again. When are we going to be wise. Obi or nothing |

saintopus:So Tinubu should leave his own party and support obi from another party to satisfy your tribalistic yearnings? Tinubu that wanted to be president should jettison his ambition and support some random guy to satisfy you unsatisfiable lot? Is reasoning and logic some form of taboo to you guys? |

TokoEkambi:So it means the North- South arrangement is not important to BAT then! So no need to worry. |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by WizardOfNG: 6:59am On Apr 17 |
saddler:What sort of question is that? Do you know the grave injustice done to the South via the rejection of Abiola's Presidential win simply because the born-to-rule and power obsessed North never wishes to relinquish power to the South? Yet same North wants to continue gaining the benefit of being in nationhood with us while showing disregard for our critical and existential importance to Nigeria. Name the method and you will find the North guilty of attempting to use such to remain in power. Military coups throughout the 80ties so they remain in charge and truncation of Abiola's win when Nigeria attempted to return to civilian democracy . We even hear they allegedly tried to remove Tinubu via military coup while Atiku is doing same via civilian coup that cannot bode well for Nigeria. The North has historically done grave injustice to the South and the rotation agreement was put in place to check their inordinate lust for power using anything (military coup, anarchy etal) that could put Nigeria in danger of balkanising violently. |

Did Tinubu respect power rotation? Obasanjo from southwest became a president..So Tinubu should not have contested 2023 elections till other southern regions have produced theirs. |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by WizardOfNG: 7:04am On Apr 17 |
DoTheNeedful:Exactly. Does any sane Nigerian believe what the North did to Abiola and the South can happen to the North without Nigeria burning to the ground in a day via mass riot and pogrom-like killings of southerners the North would have embarked on? Can the North accept what they did to Abiola, his wife and the South if the situation were reversed? |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by Svoboda(m): 7:06am On Apr 17 |
This won't fly. Tinubu killed southern unity when he contested in 2023, instead of the south east. We couldn't have had Obj for 8 yrs, an osinbajos vp for 8 yrs, and Tinubu for another 4 yrs. Whereas the southeast is yet to have a bite at the cherry. They accuse the north of being born to rule. In 27 yrs of democracy, the sw has had it for potentially 12 yrs. Add to that osinbajos 8 yrs as vp. Yet, it's the north that has born to rule syndrome. If APC decided on zoning, that's APCs problem and not Nigerias problem. Atiku will run. No amount of gaslighting and blackmail will stop him. Atiku is the biggest obstacle to Tinubus second term and is the bulwark to this governments miserable run. |

Nastrademus:They know with Atiku on the ballot, Tinubu will have a very difficult fight winning 2027. No stronger politician in the north right now than Atiku. |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by franchasng: 7:13am On Apr 17*. Modified: 7:31am On Apr 17 |
jmoore:To them Southeast does not matter na, or don't you hear them always singing, bragging, mocking and playing God by declaring that Igbo person will never become President of Nigeria? In their sinful and unkind minds, Nigeria's Presidency should be rotating between Northern Nigeria and Southwest/Yorubas perpetually. That is just and right to them. It means sophistication and every Nigerian should accept it and be very satisfied with that. |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by saintopus(op): 7:13am On Apr 17 |
WizardOfNG:The so-called insults and abuse by the Igbos came recently, the Yorubas has long since mastered the art of cursing, insulting and abusing since. The Igbos just learnt it of recently and amplified it to the level it is presently. The Yorubas can no longer match the Igbos in the cursing and abusing business. |
| Re: Onanuga To Atiku: Jettison 2027 Ambition, Respect Power Rotation by WizardOfNG: 7:16am On Apr 17 |
jmoore:Silly argument. Many prominent Southern ethnic groups in the South aside Yorubas and Igbos. Edos can make a legitimate claim to the Southern Presidential slot. So too Ibibios etal. One things you guys will never understand, because you are not reasonable, is that the turn of the South does not mean rotation exclusively between Yorubas and Igbos alone. The turn of the South, even as Yorubas and Igbos may hold size advantage , can belong to any southern ethnic group that can forge alliances and build bridges better than others. Something you guys will never be competent at doing because of your megalomaniac nature and delusions you automatically deserve to dominate and lead others. Watch, to prove my point, how Yorubas will support an SS candidate in 2039 to prove we have now matured to understand the meaning of aura for aura and energy for energy. El Rufai, your new hero, said "hate begets hate". Using that analogy, what have you lot shown Yorubas to expect us back you blindly simply because you shout it is your turn? The mature and pragmatic politics SS is playing today, you guys have never shown capacity for, will gain them mileage from us they can cash in on come 2039. May God spare all our lives till then. |

DoTheNeedful:In today's world any section of the country can do what the North did in 1960. Give us the Presidency or we leave Nigeria. They are just not conscious. Rotational Presidency is good because without it the NW and SW can continue monopolizing the Presidency but it must be fair and equitable too and if it is fair and equitable then the SW and NW will still have more slots than others. The North have to wake up and smell the coffee. They have nothing to bargain with. They need to have their own revenue and that is most important. There is no state in the North where IGR is more than allocations and that is very sad. |
