The Nigerian National Assembly should stop dragging their feet with the task of writing new legislature governing a LEGAL cannabis industry in Nigeria.

NDLEA head honcho, The Always Mighty General Marwa, directed the National Assembly to to handle this simple task MONTHS ago, yet there is nothing to show for their assignment thus far.

Once medical marijuana has been legalized for cultivation, export and taxation in Nigeria, people who already market it can become productive members of society, rather than prisoners in overcrowded jails.

Is it not time we legalize this weed or at least allow states that want to legalize it?

What sort of primitive mindset is this arresting people for weed

If I have my way all drugs would be legal from heroine to cocaine to weed... As long as you are an adult... But tax them heavily

Most people don't know the reason Weed is not legalized in Nigeria is because the dealers would lose big time

Narrow-minded ignorance ought to be punishable by 50 years in jail with hard labor.

On a more direct note, please refrain from getting drunk before posting infantile comments in this forum. Alcohol kills thousands annually.

That support for the legalization of medical marijuana in Nigeria is sadly the ONLY sensible comment ever to come out of attention-seeker and perennial election loser Sowore's chattering mouth.

I'm not saying this stuff is harmless, but this is not an issue that law enforcement should be devoting resources to. Furthermore, making it illegal only creates an industry. And if you're going to make this illegal, you should ban alcohol too.

Frankly, this stuff is also medication for some people. Since the puppet government isn't helping them, let them have the stuff.

Don't forget that marijuana is secretly enjoyed by millions of respectable and highly successful members of Nigerian society, who understand the medical benefits of the plant, ranging from stress relief, to glaucoma treatment, to appetite improvement.

Legalization of medical marijuana will merely provide a framework that will ensure that NO dangerous chemicals are added to cannabis, as is always the case in places where it remains illegal.

Not gonna happen, boss mi. What you propose is very sensible and logical. But sense and logic has never been something our elites and most Nigerians are interested in.

I follow cannabis news in Nigeria obsessively, Gabriel, and that is why the recent announcement that the NDLEA head has become open to the possibility of a legalized medical marijuana industry in Nigeria drew my attention right away. General Mawra has shown himself to be a visionary innovator who stands to play a pivotal role in revolutionizing Nigeria's agricultural sector, once the National Assembly wakes up to their assigned responsibility in this laudable new chapter documenting Nigeria's economic renasissane.

This willingness by the NDLEA to embrace a legalized and taxed medical marijuana industry in Nigeria is a new and completely unexpected development that is most likely inspired by the enormous potential of cannabis as a cash crop that is already being exploited by NINE other African nations including Malawi, Ghana, South Africa, Lesotho, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Most Nigerians would favor a total BAN on cigarettes since they are deadly to addicts as well as to all who inhale second-hand smoke when that poison is burned.

Likewise, many would have no objection to an outright blanket ban on alcohol which is the direct cause of millions of avoidable premature fatalities worldwide.

Marijuana, on the other hand, is scientifically proven to offer a wide diversity of medical and psychological benefits, when used responsibly, and as such, should be legalized as soon as the National Assembly gets off their lazy asses and follow the NDLEA boss' recent directive that they draft legislature that will become the foundation of cannabis legalization as a cash crop in Nigeria.
