I know of John Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. That is where President Tinubu did his own.

How much does your mother weigh? If she weighs over 150lbs(~ 65kg) consider getting her on a diet to take off some of that weight on her knee while you work on finding a place for the surgery. 🤔

I myself had knee problems and was advised to get the surgery. I was not too happy with the fact that the surgery was not 100% guaranteed to resolve the issue. So I took up riding a bicycle and dieting to take some of the weight off my knee in the meantime. I figured that if I got some weight off the knee, it would maybe hurt less and allow me to manage the condition better while I sorted out my feelings about getting the knee replaced with possibly a metal. At first, it hurt like hell to move my knee on the bike; I kept pushing through to get to my initial weight loss goal. And I am glad I did that. It's 15 years later, and not only did I not need to get the surgery, but the pain has long since disappeared, as I think I lost much of the weight that was causing the problem. 🤔🤔

Let your mum see a physiotherapist. She also need scent leave, bitter leave and honey. God will heal her.

I know of Garki hospital, and they did a successful Total hip replacement surgery to someone i know and she is doing well, the cost might be the only challanges

Cedarcrest Hospital Abuja does a good job in this aspect. Also ensure she goes for pre-op and post-op Physiotherapy (very important).

Then lastly seek 2nd opinion before going for surgery. Surgery is not always the only way out

Abort the mission. Knee replacement surgery in Nigeria has low success rates. Only a few Nigerian orthopedic surgeons are skilled enough to perform it. If your mother does it, she may have difficulty walking for 12-36 months. In aboard, knee replacement surgery is usually computer aided.
Your mother is better off with platelet rich plasma or genticular nerve block (interventional radiologist or anesthesiologist or orthopedic surgeon would inject your mother's kneel with pain relief) both alternatives last 6-12 months. Platelet rich plasma is better than genticular nerve block in my opinion). NB: ideally the doctor performing these procedures are meant to be certified in pain relief/palliative care.

If you are in Lagos, that's orthopedic hospital Igbobi. My mama do am. It is quite expensive there o. Hopefully, there is no infection in it cos there was infection in my mum's own and it costed us more. Millions, like 3m about 3 years ago. I never can tell what local bone setters can do though.

whatever you do avoid Cedar Crest hospital ikeja, our experience with them was not good ,my late mother-in-law did hers there in 2016, it was around 3 million then.
The surgery is about 10-12 hours, depending on the severity.
If your mom is on the big side,I advise she loose plenty weight first, change her diet completely.increase calcium intake. The surgery may not be needed.
