PulaPower:you call that fabrication? This is a norm among yahoo boys. I can't live in a house occupied by them. A friend of mine is currently living in a compound where yahoo boys are, he was the first to move before the caretaker brought 2 more yahoo tenants. The story is the same. They guy they lament their wayward life. |

And as a guy, the worst choice you will ever make is dating a lady who once had something with them. Trust me, her mentality is bleeped up and she will be your downfall in no time. |

marlow1962:Yahoo Yahoo isn’t just about people making money online, it damages society by destroying trust, weakening the economy, and corrupting values. As scams increase, people become suspicious of genuine opportunities, making it harder for honest businesses in places like Lagos to attract foreign clients. It also discourages real investment, as fraudulent money rarely builds sustainable ventures. Beyond that, it promotes a mindset where quick illegal wealth is valued over hard work, leading more young people astray. It can also fuel other crimes and insecurity, while damaging our country's global reputation, causing innocent citizens to face discrimination and missed opportunities. |

Men will avoid them. Only young ladies don't avoid them because they find them funny, interesting and generous |

Counterigbolies:While I understand you, you seem not to have experienced what I have. A landlord has not returned your money back after paying because a “yahoo boy” paid almost times two of what you paid for rent. A lady whom you hoped to have a long-term relationship with has not dumped you because a “yahoo boy” with flashy cars and doings upgraded her lifestyle with phones, accessories and money. You haven’t gone to a party of your “ so-called best friend “ and you were sidelined and embarrassed by the waiters and waitresses because they need to attend to V.I.P yahoo guys. Na Yahoo boiz follow make things cost and the economy don dabaru. While they help food sellers, prostitutes, hoteliers, boutiques, car dealers, drug dealers etc in their trade, they also destroy the economic value of the currency and tarnish the image of Nigeria abroad See , just keep quiet if you don’t have anything to say abeg ! |

The way they behave is largely driven by poverty mentality. Majority of them come from very poor backgrounds; some grew up in homes where their parents don't even have bicycle. After making money through fraud, they often lose respect for others. You’ll see them driving recklessly on the roads because they never imagined owning a car in their lifetime. Some so-called parents and landlords are even worse than these fraudsters..... There are landlords who deliberately build houses with the intention of renting them out to only yahoo boys/girls. |

Generally I would say from experience, whether they are into yahoo or not, living in proximity to people below the age of 25 is not advisable. They don't have any sense of how to respect other people's needs. |

This is a serious social and security issue that many people ignore until it affects them directly. As a public affairs analyst, I see this as more than just a housing problem—it is a reflection of how crime quietly reshapes communities and puts innocent people at risk. Living in an environment dominated by fraud-related activities, commonly associated with “Yahoo boys,” creates dangers that go beyond noise, parties, or uncomfortable lifestyles. The real issue is exposure to legal, security, and reputational risks. When law enforcement agencies investigate cybercrime, they often look at the entire network surrounding suspects—friends, neighbors, associates, and even landlords. Unfortunately, innocent residents can become collateral damage simply because they share the same address or environment. This is where many legitimate Nigerians make a costly mistake. They assume, “I’m not involved, so I’m safe.” That assumption can be dangerous. Security agencies may interpret silence as complicity. Landlords may prioritize rent over tenant profiling. Communities may normalize suspicious behavior until it becomes too late. Beyond legal risks, there is also the psychological burden—constant unrest, violence, drug abuse, intimidation, and the erosion of moral standards within the environment. For families raising children, this becomes even more dangerous because environment shapes mindset. We must also address the societal angle: the normalization of fraudulent wealth has made many young people see crime as ambition and integrity as foolishness. That is a dangerous cultural shift. This is not about judging individuals—it is about protecting lawful citizens from avoidable consequences. My advice is simple: Before renting any apartment, investigate the environment. Observe the lifestyle of residents. Ask questions. Prioritize peace, security, and dignity over cheap rent or flashy surroundings. Because when the system comes knocking, innocence alone may not protect you. Sometimes, where you live can become evidence against you. And that is a risk no responsible person should ignore.
