Tjra:Not that there hasn't been light at all, you hardly see light. You see light like once in a whole month, sometimes none in two months. Is that what you call light. I was there throughout from 23 December 2025 to 17th of January this year and I didn't see a single day with light. I went back on the 16th till month end on January yet no light. The main issue is that there's a Sub station (133kva) being built there since Obasanjo time. And from information available ever since, the station was completely paid for. Check it out from 2001 till date they couldn't complete what was completely paid for |

If you pase afipko a little, you are heading to Unwana, a village which host the akanu ibiam federal polytechnic. And then there is another place too like a village if you ride a little distance away from the institution, i think the name is Edda. That Unwana, i nor sure say i see nepa-light for there. |

jamafa:For the past 3 years, I only have power supply about 2 hours in 1 week. That is the same situation in many parts of the country. Tunubu's defender, is it your responsibility to provide the power? Tunubu has borrowed more money than OBJ, YarDua, GEJ and Buhari combined in 3 years. Plus the subsidy money. He must honor his promise. Promised made, promise kept. No light, no vote. |

There's a community called Uli in Ihiala, Anambra State, they haven't had light for years now... Was there few days back and a boy of 6/7years has never experienced PHCN light since birth Another one is Otulu community in Imo state (Ahiazu Mbaise), almost same number of years Funny thing, these two communities have PHCN poles and wires all over the community. In both communities, once 6 don knack, you go think say na midnight, everywhere don close, everybody don lock up |

😏 It means you guys are too dangerous to have any dealings with...It's either there too much of witches amongst you...or a whole lots of you are too dark minded... Not a good sign at all for you not to have light for freaking 25 years even if it's not stable...while you have all the means to bring electricity to your area but not just working out...that means alot... Until LIGHT WORKERS are activated in Nigeria...we may never have stable electricity no matter how Governments try...Nigeria is a FRONTIER of BATTLE...right now it's a lock down for the Dark Entities... That guy you see having a successful thriving business in your street either is one himself or his wife or his mother... he might know he might not know...Nobody is successful in Nigeria right now without them (I repeat this line)...not talk of Inside all our Markets...all the Top Politicians ... However! Everyone works for God including the MuMu Satan... God created some creatures with.. This post will continue... |

keemsleek:Lagos light is still erratic though may not be worse than it is at Afipko. In this age and time there are somethings we shouldn't even be discussing as a problem and that includes constant electricity; Lagos in particular. Our leaders are heartless. |

| Re: "No Light, No Vote": Afikpo Youths Stage Protest Over 25-Year Blackout by RandomFellow: 11:00pm On Apr 25 |
bestman09:That's not necessarily true. The power comes for 2 days, and goes for 2 weeks. It's been like that for years. I schooled briefly in ABSU 2004, visited Afikpo a good couple of times, and can tell you it was same problem as at 2004. I was in Afk in September/October last year, the problem was still there. There's this Hospital, Mater Mesiricodia (I hope I got that correct), located towards Ozizza road. That whole area has been disconnected from the grid for many years. Pole fell, and the power company refused to fix it |

Apus:From the military recommendation thru to obj, yara dual, Jonathan, buhari and tinubu have all disappointed when it comes to light issue. But yo be fair enough since my years in nigeria I think this era is when I have ever sen 24hrs light for 2 day straight thou there still a long way to go. Has far we have bad maintainace culture things won't work. Look at d Abuja and lagos stadium lack of maintainace and many more. We need vibrant youth mixed with experience elderly ones to move these country forward. |

Their ex gov, Umahi, is building coastal highway to link the southwest direct to the oil producing areas of the Niger delta region. This is happening in the modern world where road transportation is no longer in vogue as railways are now in vogue for long distance travels. Railways from Lagos-Benin-Onitsha-Porrharcourt-with spurs to Uyo-Calabar is what Nigeria needed desperately. |

ChristianMuslim:Funny citizens. Your advocacy is to those outside government that can only protest, advocate. But those indirectly and directly responsible for service delivery should go about their business. How about calling out the present serving governors and senators and representatives....and for good measure the 'performing' Minister of Works who incidentally was the past Governor of the State and an influential member of the ruling party today, to do their duty. I just don't understand our type of democracy. When the leaders and party you support is in power, it is you the supporters that have the greatest influence over the leadership. It is you that should be satisfied first, it is you that should be able to talk to 'daddy', as a 'family member', not a stranger. The child of a king is a prince. In those days if you want something from a 'big man' you find ways to get closer to the family members, the wife, the kids, the uncles, the cousins. But these days the 'family members' are even suffering more and begging the strangers to force the father to put food on the table. I cannot understand such modern day slavery. Look at democracies in the west. Some of the most vocal critics of Trump are in the Republican party despite the fact he satisfies them first. In the UK, parliamentary system, once they sense a Prime Minister will cost them the next elections they themselves will purge him first, not even the public. Party men and women. I say again. What is the value of your membership if you cannot influence your leaders towards good governance. Are you valuable to them or are you just fodder. |

So in a nutshell. The people of Afikpo having exhausted all avenues in calling attention to their plight should just call themselves together, select from amongst themselves who can bring pressure on the relevant authorities and elect such a person into leadership, simple. Forget the electoral bandwagon of the failed 'aligning with the centre' ideology, forget the moneybags who will soon start coming with 'rice' and 'underwear' palliatives because your needs are clear and THEY are not listening. Put in place leadership YOU CONTROL and you will start solving your problems one after the other. That is true democracy. That is how democracy all over the progressive world works to better the lives of the people. |

Bahamas95:Because in black Africa we largely have a feudal mindset, that leadership is rulership. We still see leaders through a sort of divine, superiority lens, thinking that there is something hallowed about a man who ascends to govern over all. That he or she is greater, better or some even think divinely appointed. Not knowing that it is usually the biggest hustler that eventually emerges. In most other climes, a politician can be loved, appreciated, but conduct poll after poll, east, west, north, southern countries, the vast majority of citizens of those countries just do not trust the average politician and very, very few revere them. They just use them to get a better society and that is that. We should begin to see them as merely 'first amongst equals' because in different circumstances, you or I could be in their positions. It doesn't make us superior to anyone. |

discusant:Ah, ah, as if you don't know the politics. Why do you think the electricity Bands were created. They know where the troublemakers live, those who can call them out, and they know where the peons live, those who cannot trouble them. Those who will ask 'how high' when government asks then to jump....and they give them nothing. And as long as they know we citizens donot have horizontal relationships, do not care about our fellow citizens, they are okay. I scream about the need to invest in power every day. But my personal reality is that I have power, I will say 23 hours a day in my area. I only experience power loss when the national grid fails but I know that is not the experience round about Abuja thoughtless of the rest of the country and I know the cost of power has crushed many households and businesses even when available even though I personally afford it. So it is clear that this government's priorities are somewhere else. It has completely neglected to invest to provide and to reduce the cost of energy because it cannot see that it is as critical as fuel to power the economy. |

obonujoker:How can it be worse? Afikpo never get transformer talk more of electricity for more than 2 decades- 2 decades naa no be years or months or weeks.....more than 20good years. Majority of them no get television. Whenever I visit Afikpo there is never light, I'm a witness. |

....declaring that there would be no electoral activities in the area until power is restored..... As it should be, if same measures is taken by the people of Oyo and by Nigerians at large, the so called failed minister of light and the president will know this is no joke but then Nigerians are comfortable in their docility. Just throw them crumbs and they will all be fine. |
