I personally would not call the Awo I watched at U17 average ooo. He was definitely not close to Success' level but for me, he was above average but certainly not a major standout talent as at then. But yes, your point stands. Kog45: |

TheSuperNerd:I have my reason for saying he was average, compare to Success and Iheanacho he was average, sincerely hardworking and disciplined played major roles in Awo career, reason why am not always happy seeing him battling injuries cuz I know his history especially his family. I was in UAE watching them live, both training and matches and I want to tell you Manu Garba gambled on Awoniyi and it paid off...fact after Nigeria under 15 Coca cola summer camp in UK, Awoniyi was recommended by Seyi Olofinjana but Under 17 team doctor who was the same doctor to UK summer camp told Manu Garba that No the boy wasn't good enough, not knowing that Manu has watched some UK summer camp clips. Isaac Success Oh my God na baller,he belonged to class of super talented players like Etim Esin,Tarila Okoronwata,Dodoo Avaa and Duke Udi that Nigeria football fans never enjoyed them as we supposed due to indiscipline |

Yes, I also followed the U15 Camp that produced Awoniyi. Read all about it back then and how the likes of Nacho and the rest got selected. I have to say, Seyi Olofinjana saw something in Awo that the team doc missed. Now that same Olofinjana is in the Diaspora talents discovery/recruitment committee of the NSC. I hope for better things going forward. Kog45: |

TheSuperNerd:Yes you're right on Seyi Olofinjana eyes for talent...Seyi saw Awoniyi playing on the sand of Old Ilorin Teachers College and told him can you join my academy but Awo failed to convince his Dad who preferred education, fact Awo used his Jamb money to travel to Ogun State but told his senior bro Ayo his mission and met imperial academy coach Alphonsus Ezimoha....the rest Dem go say na history....respect to players like Awoniyi,Osimhen,Ndidi, Iheanacho and Chuckwueze,Ejuje, Awaziem and Simeon Moses cuz na from trenches o |

A section of Marseille fans are angry that it took the coaches this long to play a player that they now view as Makelele regen. They said he is the strongest midfielder in their team and that their team would have faired better if he has been a starter long ago. https://x.com/OM_Officiel/status/2049066092979421694?t=QYzzuTd2-4TQzm-38TpGYA&s=19 |

And this is exactly the nonsense narrative I am avoiding. I did not discover Osimhen. I never said I did. And that was never the point. You are deliberately using "discoverer" to cover or infact dodge the point. When Osimhen was yet to "blow", there were some of us in this thread who already pictured him as the next big thing and staunchly stood by our belief in his talents despite his struggles at Wolfsburg. That is the point. From 2015 to 2017 and then to his first senior pro goal in 2018, we were here even in the face of major negative statements like he wont fit in at the U23s of Championship sides. So again, no one is dragging anything with anyone here. Just set the records straight and dont try to be clever shifting the conversations to make it a kind of tussle for discoverer tag. No one here discovered Osimhen and it was never the point of discussion. FiveFootNinja: |

Funny or weird I have to say this but I am kinda thankful Beye is having issues with Hamid Abdelli, if not Nnadi would not have started. Look at how Beye came out to also talk down on Nwaneri's commitment. Omo... The only thing Beye said prior to Nnadi's 1st start on Nnadi himself is his need for improvement in the 2nd and 3rd phase of plays but what we saw Nnadi do vs NICE shows Nnadi's got that side on lock. His absence all this while is not down to talent, but just a coach's personal "decision" to leave him out or bench him. Same thing happening to Christantus Uche at Palace. Not Nigerian-related but I find it post-worthy. Beautiful story climb. And they will both be at the World Cup as starters for France. Solid duo. Apparently 433 might have nicked this from Tobywrites 😂😂 but that is not my point. My point is the story. Omo, socials these days ehn... anything to screw anyone over and gain traction and "elon musk" + social media money. Lol

TheSuperNerd:Osimhen straight from the U17 world cup, was left on the bench by Sia Sia for the U23 Afcon. Came on in the semifinals against Senegal in the second half and changed the game. Thats when I knew ......... |

Thank you. Immediately after the U17 WC triumph in 2015. In same 2015, Siasia included him in the squad for the U23 Afcon. Not used until the semis and his introductio was impactful. Even Siasia himself knew... anyone following that U23 afcon knew. Till today, that is the only U23 Afcon title we won. Etebo was top scorer I believe. Truidstarr: |

I agree. CIV especially were undone at the recent afcon by show of inexperience vs Egypt. Senegal is also not left out. Watch out for all 3 teams. Morocco will always be in the picture but neutrally they stand little to no chance on the continent despite their quality, if all is fair and square. elyte89: |

TheSuperNerd:This is becoming rather hilarious. Okay, so you've established that you championed Osimhen early, without fanfare, without tagging him, without needing recognition, just a guy simply doing what he loves quietly and without agenda. So I simply acknowledged your primacy in this thread and you... rejected the acknowledgment because the exact word I used wasn't precise enough? Lmao. Dude which one is it? Please pick a lane. It's either you don't care about the credit and this whole conversation was unnecessary, or you care enough about it that the framing of a concession bothers you. You cannot hold both positions simultaneously and then turn around and accuse me of trying to be clever. I called you the foremost discoverer. You said you didn't discover him, you "already pictured him as the next big thing and staunchly stood by our belief in his talents despite his struggles at Wolfsburg" (your own words. Oya no wahala. Fair enough. But at the end of the day, that distinction is so thin that it only matters to someone who is, in fact, keeping score. And there is nothing wrong with keeping score. Just own it. My position is simple: Banky heavily champions Osimhen now, and you've been championing him since before now. Both can be true without it being an attack on your legacy. And if you truly didn't care about the validation, you wouldn't get this offended by someone actually giving it to you, and start penning all these redundant epistles, playing musical chairs with semantics. |

And you said that is all you were going to say. I knew you were lying. I just knew you would say more. Please, it is clear what your intentions are and they are not good. Those that know the truth wont bend it like you intended. So run along, I did not bother reading. Thank you. FiveFootNinja: |

TheSuperNerd:For someone who "just does this for fun," you sure are sensitive about your unofficial credentials. You didn’t read what I typed yet somehow you’re certain my intentions are evil? That’s some impressive delusion. If you were actually above the tussle, you’d have stopped typing ages ago, but your ego can't help it. |

Whatever feeds your curiosity on why I am still here talking Nigerian football. You blindly call it ego. Others call it consistency. I personally call it undying love and passion for Nigerian football exploits. Like I said, your intentions are not good. Only people with issues with why I have not stopped call it ego. And I have taken sabbaticals at different points. Several Months at a time even. Please just run along. Your 5mins attention seeking is over. Oh I forgot... there is a block button. FiveFootNinja: |
