Of all the so called human rights activists, Adejanju is probably the most unintelligent. He talks a lot……most of it nonsense!

Deji, you're delusional to say this.

Deji Adeyanju is a fool and that was an incredibly stupid statement for him to have made.
Manufacturing is the bedrock of economic growth and development. For every hour that there is no electricity, money gets spent on diesel for generators to keep production running. For most businesses, this can be several tens of thousands monthly, Hundred of thousands monthly or millions monthly. This is money that otherwise could have been used to employ more staff or increase the salaries of those already employed.

Constant electricity leads to greater productivity and greater earning potentials for workers. This enables them afford better quality lifestyles, have greater disposable income and ofcourse pay more in taxes. Steadily available electricity makes costs of production lower and produced goods more competitive when compared to imports. The reason why foreign rice will always be cheaper than local rice is because foreign rice mills don't have to deal with the added cost of generating their own electricity unlike what our mills here have to deal with.

But ofcourse as a lawyer, I don't expect Deji to know that. Since all lawyers by nature are pre-qualified idiots. They are a huge reason why Nigeria is the mess it currently is.
Big man.. you hit the nail on its head. That enormous capital that can and should redirected to other aspect of growing a business goes into buying unnecessary fuel expenses. I don't understand his point of saying they just want to meet light from morning and then night to sleep. Does he even know how many manufacturers will like to keep their doors open for night shifts and how many willing and able bodied unemployed people will gladly take a night shift working in those factories.

As we have a national comprehension problem, let me help you understand what he is trying to say.

All the man is saying is just do even the barest minimum of small ordinary light for a few hours (not that they should not do better) but even at that, the leadership is still failing. And he is right. Let’s listen and read to comprehend, it’s not hard.

Nigerians also don't want to face reality.

The reality is, electricity 24 hours for all Nigerians would cost a lot of money, and a lot of money would have to be paid by consumer.

But we all cry poverty, and we rightly ...note I said rightly...blame corruption and bad government and tinubu not doing well. But even if Obi took over tomorrow, it would cost at least 15 trillion naira or more in EXTRA funding...just for power...to pay for the neccessary improvements.

And that means that cost reflective tarrifs must be paid, and everyone must be metered...and power theft must be punished drastically

Our not doing the above is why we don't have light.

It's simple economics...you have to sell something at a profit to make enough of a profit to pay for improvements, and everyhting.

Calling someone tinubu supporter because they say that is funny, especially as tinubu is not letting the sector charge cost reflective tarrifs.

In summary, we got bad light because we are poor...and we are enjoying what we paid for in our poverty. We no be saudi, and we cannot live like Saudi.

Bitter truth that the ignorant will argue about.

Ordinary increasing the electricity tariffs to boss the distribution of electricity, we all heard the loud noise from the Nigerians
Okay, so why cant u enable your citizens to afford the electricity? Like in in other countries where citizens afford light? At least whe u pay people well in a society, they can afford quality of life. So, whose fault is it that over 95 percent of the citzens cant afford good quality of life but all politicians can live large? That shows the system is faulty.
And what he said is actually funny becus he is asking govt to at least ensure there is light at night for citiznes to use and sleep. That is also hard for a failed country called Nigeria

Read this post Nd you'll slap anyone who prays for our politician. The latest I read last week was that Iran has promised to fix the refineries that were attacked within 2 months. In all of these, Iran has not used the US sanctions or the war as an attack. If you think our politicians are not working with the devil himself, think again. 👇
If most of us Nigerians are not working with the devil himself, then HOW did such politicians emerge from our midst huh

Many poorer countries have steady power, in the past we had 24hrs of electricity where I lived and we paid for it. The problem with the country is that money meant for the power sector end up being looted by the elites.

Nigerians provide water, security, build roads, build drainages and buy transfermors themselves so what makes you think they can't pay for 24hrs electricity ?

Can you mention any other nation where citizen buy transformers except Nigeria ?

I think deji adeyanju is seriously mocking tinubu that he cannot satisfy the least of Nigerians desires to have light even for some crucial hours.

It shows that tinubu failed woefully from all perspectives

What you called bitter truth is foolishness. If many small countries can have steady power supply and afford it why can't Nigerians, Do you even know what is called basic amenities? Some of you lost ur sense of reasoning just because you want to support the government in power that failed her citizens.

In the past, I could remember Nigerians saying all we needed was 24/7 power supply, we are ready to pay, just give us steady power. Now, they have something close to it and they complaining about the price. They are not even paying cost reflective yet, Government is still subsidizing the price.

Agree with the fact that Nigerians can not afford 24hours power supply, but the power supply needs to be available. The essence of prepaid metering, which allows us control our power usage.

Adeyanju might sound condescending and arrogant but he is factually correct.

Nigerians are now a people who cannot pay for 24/7 power supply because past Government .have used subsidies in critical sectors (petrol, education, power supply, artificial propping up of value Naira etc) as weaponised tools of making inadequately educated and unexposed Nigerians comfortanle with poverty that should not be their portion.

All Presidents, from 1999 to 2023, turned Nigerians into beggars, living worse than pets in developed nations, yet believing life was good and better under OBJ, GEJ and Buhari because of cheap fuel, non cost-reflective electricity tariffs, cheap substandard education etal.

The best life possible, per global best standard definition of that, is what Tinubu wants to deliver with reforms, punitive in the short term, yet will see Nigeria become.a developed natiom in 20 to 30 years from now.

Please educate yourself about Non-cost-reflective tariffs to understand what Adeyanju is saying.

Electricity is expensive all over the World. Last month, residents of aba were complaining that their electricity bill for a month has surpassed their yearly house rent.

How many people can pay for 24 hours uninterrupted power?
Going forward, the government has to completely remove it's hands and allow private companies to take over.

By then you would appreciate the efforts of the government
