I bought this brand new engine in Abuja for 4.5m for my Prado instead of Belgium engine . Is it worth the price ?

It's aftermarket china. Yes it worth it. It will outlive any toks above 150k miles already.

I won’t say it’s good nor bad, but I’ll say this for a fact you just paid more for a used engine that was washed in china, it’s the same tokunbo engine in ladipo just that this particular one was washed and cleaned, and now you can’t even return the engine if it turns out to be faulty you’re stuck with it. But if it turns out great congrats.

With the recent paradigm shift to upgrades, people are swapping brand new engines (Chinese new, Japanese remanufactured or very low mileage) on older models of the Landcruiser, Hilux and GX470.

i understand Chinese now do refurbished engine.

These engine compression are also tested.

there is a chemical they used to cleaned it. and replaced the fault with modern tools of higher precision, sometimes new sleeve, pistons and boles. they put new accessories. which make them better than toks with no guarantee history.

toks is better if its cheaper. but getting direct or a good one is a problem.

What is the warranty on it?
I wouldn't buy that engine unless it had a warranty on it and I fully trusted who built/refurbed/sold it to honor that warranty and everything that comes with it.
Too much to go wrong with it.

as an aside - no one should blame the Chinese for low quality unreliable products . Chinese are GIGO - if Nigerians ask them for garbage to sell in Nigeria, they will give it to you.ask them for apple grade products, they will also give it to you

the reason for OPs worry is he has no way of telling what he actually bought. it is a 101% game of chance where he might have a brand new engine that wil last 10 years, or a well cleaned dud that will start failing in less than a year

You will hardly get brand new engine in Nigeria. What you see in the market are re-manufacture from china. Still a good buy.

It worth it provided it was purchased from a Toyota accredited/authorized importers like Elizade or other Toyota showrooms..

The history of brand new parts in Nigeria has proved that Belgium is better than china…e sure say na refurbished

Yeah, the thought never came to me. I have another 2015 prado 4 cylinder am considering to change. Hopefully will give it a thought. Can you share the contact where you bought this?

You got it wrong, bro. That engine is a brand new engine produced by a third-party company, not by Toyota. It is called an aftermarket engine or part.

Aftermarket parts are new parts produced by third-party (another) companies rather than the original manufacturer. They are cheaper compared to the actual part from the original manufacturer, and the quality too cannot be compared to the original one.

Because original parts are expensive, some third-party companies flooded the market with new, cheaper parts that can serve the same purposes as the original ones.

Yes very worth it and it's a fair price for a brandnew.
