Most people think a “security dog” means aggression, but that’s not true. Real protection comes from control, obedience, and awareness, not uncontrolled barking or biting.

A well-trained family dog can protect you better by preventing danger, not escalating it.

🔑 3 Essential Commands Every Security Dog Must Know

1. ALERT (Controlled Barking)
Train your dog to bark only when necessary and stop on command.
This turns your dog into a reliable early warning system, not a noisy nuisance.

2. PLACE (Stay in One Spot)
In stressful situations, your dog should go to a designated spot and stay there. This keeps things under control and prevents chaos during emergencies.

3. GUARD / STAND (Silent Protection)
Your dog stays calmly beside you, alert and focused. This creates a strong deterrent effect without aggression.

⚠️ Important Truth
A dangerous, aggressive dog is a liability.
A calm, obedient, and well-trained dog is real security.

If you try all these techniques with an EkukeBingo...without feeding it cheesy

Just kidding. Dogs are so intelligent. They have personalities like humans; some introverts and some extroverts.

Alsatians/ German Shepherds are my favorite breed. Super intelligent and I stay away from Dobermans, Mastiffs and Rottweilers. Too aggressive.

German Shepherds can be obsessively possessive though.

I love my GSD, I feed it very well. The dog is friendly during the day, especially when I’m around it. But last week, the dog did something that is almost breaking our relationship. While nobody was in the compound, it got into my chicken house and killed all the birds inside, totalling 54, which included 50 chickens and 4 turkeys. I beat it badly. My wife insisted I should take it out of the house, but I can’t for now because it will go into heat by May, and it can give me 6 to 8 puppies.

Omo na person wey beleful na him dey train dog...

Dogs are essentially babies. You gotta fend/care for them...

If you see a well trained, beautiful, smart dog, just know the owner is putting the work 110%..

I'd rather a cat at the moment.... No time for dog now... A cat will fend itself...

You over pampered your dog. I have a boerboel mix and right from the age the dog began to chew slippers I and my wife made it a duty to whoop the dog's ass, that way the dog knows there are boundaries.
Fast forward today, the dog is like 5 years old and my wife runs a cottage poultry, the dog has never killed any fowl even when the fowls stray out of the cage.
The only time it tastes fowl is when we have a dead bird and we use it to prepare pepper soup for it or at times feed it raw like that. Dogs need discipline cos they are naturally assertive depending on the breed, so you have to assert yourself as the pack leader as early as possible else the dog will naturally assume that position.

My BRO’s German Shepard is very intelligent

I realized dogs can vibe some music, try to be involved in conversations, dogs know when you step beyond boundaries in a house, it protects owners children, eats on command, can causally stroll out to easy itself and come back, stays quiet at command
Some breed of dogs are very intelligent

You didn't socialize her with the chickens that's why.

You can still do it with your next flock
