Monopoly is not good if the oil price is decided for Alhaji Dangote and a very few powerful men. The oil cabals are fighting to make sure oil prices remain above 2300 naira per liter, they do not care if Nigerians pay 2000 naira for a liter at the fueling station. These oil cabals including the former NNPC president singlehanded make sure Nigeria imported oil instead of allow the citizens to build refinery to run. They allowed the old refineries to spoil beyond repair so that Nigeria can import oil. While the masses are paying for huge money, these cabal are cashing from importation of oil.
Now that Dangote has opened a refinery, other Big men can now open their own private refinery. Oil is still big money , every big man / madam in Nigeria has his or her hand in oil. This is why they do not want petrol price to get low. The lower the price, they lose money.
So remember that as you pay petrol at the fueling station or on the black market price, remember the higher you pay, the more these big men eaT.

Build refinery and struggle to get crude oil to refine, who does that kind of business. Dangote refinery expose lot of things in oil and gas sector. Imagine Dangote importing crude whereas his country is one among the world crude oil producing countries.

We don’t need too many refineries because of the greenhouse gases they produce

Is not easy as you think, many Nigerians don't think long term. Although let's say apart from Dangote there are other smaller refineries but they can't do large volumes. What you are asking them to do is quite tough, for instance to build a refinery of 100,000 barrels per day and above it takes roughly 10 years to complete, no short cuts. For 10,000 to 30,000 per day it takes between 2 to 4 years. How many of them have the resilience to wait that long. I know that BUA is working on one around 250k and they have been on it for some years now, let's say some others. It's tough to think long term in some businesses in Nigeria, that is why many settle for trading.
That is why I often laugh when a particular set of people beat their chest saying they are the financial powers of Nigeria meanwhile they are mostly traders and are not into heavy manufacturing. Look at Dangote Cement for instance, they spend at least 50m per day on Diesel for production, if one is not tough skinned you can't run such a business so you settle to be an employee or a trader.

A few is enough to start building a refinery. Many are called , few are choosen. There are at least 10000 Nigerians who are wealthy , even if na 6 , it is possible. It is far better than a politican storing money in an offshore account. Building refinery creates jobs, help reducing Nigeria dependency on imported oil and help keep capital in Nigeria. Nigeria need at least 4 refineries to work. 1 working refineries is not enough for Nigeria population of at least 180 millions.

even Dangote took loans from Banks, there are few Nigerian who have that money. Mike Adenuga is one, Cuppy Dad is another one and sure there are couple Nigeria is bleeding serious cash when the unrefined oil is being exported out to be refined and send back to Nigeria as diseal , petrol , jet fuel , kerosene . Those countries refinering Nigeria oil are not doing it for free. They are enjoying and making cash while Nigeria lose cash

For the betterment of Nigeria, if I had the money, capacity and the opportunities , yes I will do gladly. But there are people who can, so they should be encouraged to do so. 1 refinery is not enough for Nigeria.

So you concluded that they have done their best. If it was them, then the refinery built would mentioned Dangote and Adenuga or Dangote and ko build a refinery.
Personally I do not care who build a refinery, all i care is that Nigeria need more than 1 refinery to stop importing oil. I do know that there are wealthy Nigerians who can do such project . We can agree to disagree, no shaking

You are funny, do you know that for about 2
30 years only 2 African countries have functional refineries until Dangote came in, that's Libya and Algeria. You are not even thanking God we finally had one you are asking for another

He was not properly informed, there is an article I read where his friends warned him not into such investment and he felt like regretting why he invested in such business, the questions you would have asked yourself is that what happened to the two refineries we have as a country. One of the country that has crude recognised in the whole world don't have a working refinery
