I understand he too wants to resign so he can contest for Senate in the 2027 elections, since the Imo governorship elections are now off cycle. Hence why he wants to appoint his anointed successor as deputy governor now, to take over when he resigns. He probably feels a woman being governor after he leaves wont sit well with the people.

Maybe he has been promised Senate president by Tinubu for his 2nd term.

I am seeing a game plan here. I just hope it's not what I am thinking.

If it is, then the next inline to resign will be the speaker followed by the main man himself in order to contest for senatorial position.
