Save for last minute changes,hope uzodinma is expected to contest for the senate

Imo governorship elections are now off-cycle and he can’t wait as the election is expected to hold next august/september.

There is also speculation he has been promised the senate presidency.

I've never seen a governor resign from government in Nigeria.

If this is true, why did the deputy governor resign or is it part of the permutations going on?

If deputy resigned then something is on the card, no Governor hands over power to his deputy in Nigeria don't why it is that way

You are wrong 💯. He can resign after the election, but not necessarily before the election. Many governors in the past have contested for senate when they were still in power. Some are currently planning to contest too, like Dapo Abiodun of Ogun. The examples you gave up there is only applicable to political aponitees like ministers etc. A governor is politically elected, not appointed.

The resignation of the Deputy is the only reason I’m giving this news any consideration. The Deputy Governor may have been asked to resign ahead of the Governor, because she is not the preferred person to succeed him. Remember, if the Governor resigns, whoever he appoints as Deputy now automatically becomes the Governor.
Although he doesn't have to resign now to contest for Senate, however he will resign eventually, and the Deputy Governor is just the sacrificial lamb.

Even Tinubu if allowed will contest Lagos state Governor again if he loses out from the Presidential race, that is how desperate the criminals in APC are towards politics and political office shocked
