You're right, the Yorubas and rest of the world didn't see it as something to celebrate but the igbos do, that should not be a problem. And I don't think they claim to invent the system.
Igbos should celebrate Peter Obi. That is someone worth celebrating

If you travel overseas you will be surprised that most whites no dey go University , most of thier universities are filled with Asians and Africans.

Na apprenticeship whites dey do. Europe as a whole whites no dey go high institution.
But in Nigeria its the opposite, everyone dey want high institution and think apprenticeship is for low level people.

Enter some classes in many UK 🇬🇧 universities you will think you dey university of Port Harcourt or University of Calabar. Na Black faces full class.

It's total nonsense.

While some ogas treat their bois well upon completion of their apprenticeship,

Some do directly the opposite. I know someone who was given just 500k after 5 years of loyal service.
Just a little bit of government regulation will solve this.

That person was definitely not settled well, but he received contacts, got hands-on knowledge and acquired experience

I'm highly Pro-ibo but this is simply the global standard of teaching a trade. Even Yoruba practice the same thing. Americans call their own internship. There is nothing new to this system. And this system did not originate from Igboland. I'm really sorry to burst your bubble.

Igbos are a wonderful and Amazing Ethnic group and I prefer doing business with ibo than my own people.
This actually NOT true. It is further proof that Igbos are from biblical Israelites because this was how Jacob served his oga for seven years.
It is NOT same as Western apprenticeship. An apprentice learns a technical trade. A boi lives with the oga and essentially becomes part of his family and learns a way of life NOT a specific technical stuff. This is not what obtains other places

Some bitter soul people will be crying and gnashing their teeth here because of this Igbo resilient which they have been mocking and taunting Igbos for years and now it has turned out to save Nigeria woes and also being recognized not only in Nigeria but entire Africa and to the whole world.
What a great time to be an Igbo.
Please can someone shout Igbo Amala!!!!!

They should update the terms and conditions and apprenticeship should not be for trading only. Have specified time to spend doing apprenticeship.

I know someone who is unemployed for 5 years after spending 5years in the university, university education should also be nonsense to you. You are calling a system that has raised most millionaires in Nigeria nonsense?

But this is the standard method of training from father to son regardless of culture. Trying to call it an Igbo way is just propaganda. This is the only way to teach on generation to the next. Oyinbo do the same thing...... The Apprentice.
Where in Oyibo land do you go and become part of a man's family for seven years or so - and you're not learning any specific technical stuff? After which they give you money and support to stand.
Apprentices usually pay to learn. Infact my uncle had to pay for his wife to be an apprentice

Next 50 years they will claim they introduced it to Igbos.
You too know that it was copied from the Yorubas especially the Kwarans.
They still do it till date.
Only that our blodas are just always loud.
Yorubas will say "O ya ise fun".
I always thought it existed in many cultures.

Take it easy with your painment because the stone(Igbos) you Igbo haters rejected have become a cornerstone.
So take it easy with your painment before it leads you to untimely death.
If you like impersonate Igbos with their name so that you will think you are Igbo we know the tribe you come from

Am telling you but this one will be hard for them because Igbos have already learnt in a hard way how they claimed so many things Igbos invented as theirs by making sure that they guide and protected this one with jealousy by making sure that they take it outside Nigeria and to entire world

Whether it's free or paying it bolis down to the same thing. I know a guy who used to train absolute novices in customised fashion for just two weeks and after two weeks they become masters of the trade.

Omo Seven years long o. Just to do rudimentary things it takes seven years.

My guy used to even teach people in just 3 days and they knew everything he knew.

That Seven years is exploitation. Some people will turn you into houseboy because they want to teach you. You will be washing their clothes. Is that what they came to learn ?

It is simply a way to pass on knowledge. It did not originate from anywhere and there is absolutely nothing special about it. I know a guy who will turn you into an expert of his trade in just two weeks and you can even keep on calling him by phone till eternity for advice. My guy gives you one month to learn. Learn or dont learn he will bounce you after one month and you can keep on calling him for advice forever which he will give you. He says he does not believe in turning people into slaves.

If done right, it's a nice system that can help the country unemployment rate. Am from the north but have always liked the practice. It has produced more millionaires than formal education.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Igbos and Jews are not related at all. Why claim other humans who are just like you and nothing better ? Everyone wants to always claim they come from " advanced " people if such a thing exists. The Igbo Jew thing is just coincidence. There are so many practices that are similar in operation that they don't need to be tied to anything. All cultures have a greeting for morning and another greeting for Night.

If the boy needs to learn about life from another man then what is the boys father for huh? If the boy needs to serve another man and not his own father then one is creating a very lose and watered down system

Charity begins at home. Thank God Oduduwa have stopped putting Tribal marks on their children alot of African culture is based on ignorance or very poor socialization

This is extremely true. But who have the better economy. Oyinbo or Afrikoko ? Oyinbo do because they use apprenticeship to create blue collar workers who create the labour force. Okpolo all our graduates both home a d abroad African and our economy is in very bad shape. Going to school will put things in your brain but what is in your brain will not build reality you need the hand to create reality. The hand is the blue collar worker. If I put a plate of hot eba and delicious soup before any man he must use his HANDS to eat it.

Let me display to my Ndigbo brothers that I may be Oduduwa but I'm ibo in Spirit

The "power of the hand" in the context of an Ikenga refers specifically to the power of the right hand (aka Ikenga), which in Igbo culture symbolizes the ability to take action, achieve success, and overcome life's obstacles. It represents the "strength of a man's arm" and is the primary tool for industry, farming, warfare, and leadership.

My brother the similarities are way, way, waayy too many for coincidence (see some below), down to pinpointing which biblical person exactly (Eri, son of Gad) and the Igbo name itself (Igbo=Hebrew). If you were a judge what would you rule?

As for boi, it is quite different from regular apprenticeship. An apprentice can live his life, have girlfriends, even get married. A boi emphatically can't. Most apprentices pay to learn not get paid. A boi is also a humble servant - it is hard to be a humble servant in your father's house!
