How Will You Answer This Question As A Married Man? by Dogalmighty17(op): 10:42pm On May 07
So the other day, my wife asked me this question.
Why don't Nigerian men take their wives with them to clubs?

I'm not the clubbing type but the question got me thinking. And the answer I gave appears to have put me in trouble.

I simply replied that men go to clubs to unwind from their troubles and take their minds off it. So why will they take a major part of that trouble with them to the club?

Was my answer wrong?

You are not wrong for believing what you said. You're not even wrong for thinking the marriage dynamic is adversarial at times. But you are a wrong for saying it directly to her face. It isn't about lying to yourself — it's about knowing that truth is a weapon they'll make you bleed with. You don't hand them the blade.

I seriously wasn't even giving it serious thought. I just blurted out the first thing that came to my mind. I don't know why women can't just relax and take a joke.

Well, if I was the one, I will laff it off if my husband said that to me I will even add jara to it. That's is why marrying your friend is very important, they can decipher sacarsm and joke quickly.

Sorry to say but i dislike to see these people that once u tell them about your spouse, they make you feel like he or she is not best enough....What do u mean by "thats why marrying your best friend is very important?". Cant you understand we react to things differently? U wanna say OP didn't marry his best friend? Stop this abeg. @Op you have said what u said and am happy she expressed her feelings unlike others that wouldn't react only to grumble at the back cos they are scared of their husband. I cant take my wife to club and I aint clubbing type cos she could feel like having such experience again and me not ready to take her there may translate to another thing....The 2 time consecutively that i went to club, I almost got addicted if not that I didn't have the money to sustain such lifestyle then....I can't try it now.

Women are very smart in situations like this, and I can swear that before she asked that question, she already knew the answer you would give. The reason she’s angry is because she wasn’t expecting you to be so direct.

You were just being honest and I would have given the same reply. But maybe your body language was why she didn’t interpret it as a joke. You can tell your wife, "You nor get sense" and she would either laugh or get angry depending on your expression when you made the statement.

Why will a wife be scared of her husband in the first place? Like is it normal? And I will keep repeating it without mincing words, marrying your friend is very important.
As for Op, he is the one that knows the type of woman he married.
