When last did you check on your neighbour? Do your neighbours know you as a kind person or as someone difficult to live around?

Sadly, many of us today hardly know the people living beside us. Modern house structures and fenced compounds have reduced interaction. Everybody stays behind gates and walls.

But despite this, Islam still places great importance on the rights of neighbours.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Jibril continued advising me regarding the neighbour until I thought he would make him an heir.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

SubḥānAllāh. Look at how serious the rights of neighbours are in Islam.

Being a good neighbour is not only about giving food. It includes:

- Avoiding harm

- Speaking respectfully

- Assisting when possible

- Checking on them during difficulty

- Controlling noise and disturbance

- Showing kindness and patience


Some people pray Tahajjud and fast often, yet their neighbours suffer from their attitude.

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

They said: Who, O Messenger of Allah?
He said:
“The one whose neighbour is not safe from his harm.”
(Bukhari)

Let us revive this forgotten Sunnah.
Even if walls separate our houses, kindness should not disappear from our hearts.

May Allah make us among those who are beneficial to their neighbours and loved by the people around them. Āmīn.

With no iota of doubt in my mind, I am very good to my neighbour.

Thanks to my New neighbor that Nocks to my door to give me food any time that she finish cooking. She's beautiful shaa

We are gravitating to a phase when we no longer know our neighbours let alone good neighborliness.l grew up in the days of when neighbours were like a family.The "neighbours helplem neighbour" parlance was real.The western culture and lifestyle is permeating rapidly.The rural areas are relatively better.

Well I don't have to be nice to them as I always mind my business.

If I even see some of them far outside the house, I can't recognize them.

Apart from "good morning", "how are you" I don't have any other thing with my neighbours.......I prefer it that way.

Ignoring them but aggravating their plight online with support for their main oppressors. Weldone ooo.

Does your neighbours include non muslims? Why are you all silent about whats going on in Nigeria and Africa.

Whatever u do in this life be wise, dont be nice. Some Neighbors are evil people, once they see u are nice, them go borrow everything wey dey use house, collect money their house go come be extension of ur house and worst of all if na single mom them no sabi appreciate anything for this life

Me wey i sabi give na so i sabi rena ur nonesense cuz nothing go ever make me even come beg u for something, once i notice u are an unappreciative person na there me and u go get problem or u come turn me to money and food stuff lender ur own don finish be that .

Some neighbors are evil while some are the sweetest persons u will ever meet, even if u won park e go dey pain u

I do all those mentioned above to my neighbors. I'm going to heaven. Yayyy!!!!

Some neighbors will take your gentility and kindness for granted and stupidity.
