Hello guys thank you all for the many suggestions and contributions. I got admission for masters in canada for Winter 2027. I'm here for advice on preparing documents (bank statements, business documents, tax?? etc) for POF and proving home ties. I am the last child of my family and I plan to use my dad as my sponsor, he has been a business man for many years. I also work and earn and okay salary but my company does not provide payslip so I wonder if bank statement of the transfer will be enough. Also when is the best time for me to submit the application to give enough time for processing. Also are there any bodies that offer funding for int'l students ? My school did not require a tuition deposit but I can pay for a semester if necessary. My family will sponsor for a some time so I also plan to work and fend for my fees. Also can I use a gift deed? I know I've asked a lot of questions but I'd appreciate any answers. |

Oghenerukoko:@Oghenerukoko, I’ve been following this forum for a while and find myself in a very similar situation. I am currently assisting my aunt and her family friend with their applications, which we are looking to submit within the next 48 hours. Here is a breakdown of their profiles: Profile 1: My Aunt Family Structure: Family of 5, but applying for the Study Permit for herself and 2 children only (husband is staying back for now). Academic Status: Admitted for a Master’s in Leadership at the University of Regina; $15,000 tuition deposit already paid. Financials: Approximately ₦60 million across two personal bank accounts. Travel History: Solo travel to Dubai (2019); East African trip with children last year. Ties/Background: Senior Sales Manager in Hospitality. Registered personal business (inactive). Husband has an active business with full CAC/Tax documentation, plus property and vehicle titles. Profile 2: Family Friend Family Structure: Mother and 4 children (2 biological, 2 foster with legal guardianship affidavits). Academic Status: Also admitted for a Master’s at Regina made 10k cad tuition deposit Visa History: Mother has a valid Visitor Visa (TRV) until 2034. All 4 children have TRVs valid until August (recently renewed passports). Husband also holds an existing TRV with multiple previous visits to Canada. Financials: Husband’s Domiciliary account holds over $170,000 USD, plus ₦50 million in local accounts. Includes full business documentation (CAC/Tax). Travel History: Trip to East Africa last year; wife and kids have not yet utilized their Canadian visas. Specific Question Regarding Minor Applicants When filling out the study permit forms for the children accompanying a parent on a Master's degree: What should be listed as the "School Name" for the children? Since they are minors, they generally attend primary or secondary schools based on their residence in Canada, but they may not have a specific Letter of Acceptance (LOA) yet. Does anyone have experience on whether to list a generic "Public School Board" or a specific school in the Regina area? |

SOPWriter:@SOPWriter, Was wondering if it better to apply for visitor visa for minor kids or student permit |

From the VO decision, you don't have continuity of funds; it means your employment ends when you are in Canada, as such funds will no longer come. Also, the funds you showed are from a refund from DLIs and property sold, so practically, you no longer have assets in your home country. The first year is taken care of, but there is no proper plan to fund the second year. The VO wants to either see funds for the second year or a working plan to finance the second year of your stay without working. Your spouse’s income/employment was not considered stable enough. If you consider reapplying, ensure you include stable and traceable income, business income, or salary that continues even while studying; the VO wants to see funds for the second year or a realistic funding plan without depending on working in Canada, etc.... liberallatty: |

They can use a visit- all-purpose or study permit, they don't need a letter of acceptance ehiremen2002: |

JMG12:Thanks for the clarification, @JMG12. We have decided to proceed with Study Permits for the kids. However, we have a few questions regarding the documentation for minors: Details of Intended Study in Canada: Since minors don't need a Letter of Acceptance (LOA), what should they input in this section? Should I list a generic "Public School Board" in the city where they will be studying, or leave it blank/write "To be determined upon arrival"? Employment/Education History: For the children's "Current Activity/Employment" section,we will list their current school in Nigeria. Supporting Documents: we have requested Letters of Recommendation from their current Nigerian schools (Elementary and High School). Are there any other specific documents required from their current schools—such as transcripts, report cards, or "To Whom It May Concern" letters—to strengthen the application? we would appreciate any insights from those who have successfully processed Study Permits for minors from Nigeria.

My sponsor is my brother-in-law, who is a Canadian citizen and is legally employed in Canada. he has already funded the GiC account and student chequing which I opened in my name with 50million, I have gotten his sponsorship letter, employment letter, their marriage certificate to show he is legally married to my sister, but the case is that he didn't want to present his bank statement instead he said he will give me T1 General, Can this T1 General serve as sponsor's bank statement of account? Will IRCC accept it? He also visited Nigeria several years ago, and we took family and personal photographs together. I plan to include these pictures as supporting evidence to demonstrate our genuine family relationship and closeness. |

Good morning. I want more insight on this please. Can you submit for other family members before you travel? Is there a possibility that their application will be approved before you travel? So that you can actually leave together. JMG12: |

Good morning everyone. I have applied and gotten a LOA from a Private Uni in Canada. My confusion, however, is that they didn't ask for my WASSCE or any high school result. I also did not submit any letter of intent. They only requested for school transcripts. Although, I have been in communication with the official mail on their website, I am still feeling like the admission process is 'too fast' and I am wondering if my result or letter of intent are just not needed. I am about to pay my tuition deposit through the link in my LOA (PAYMYTUITION), but I am also trying to be careful. Are my worries valid or it is just Naija mentality that is messing with me? |

Omoniyimi12345:Your worry is valid. On a general terms, public research universities are more preferable to private universities and most private universties usually waive normal or laid down compulsory admission criteria for applicants which is why both embassies and employer of labour usualy does not trust them. By this fact, Canadian high commission expects you to be extremely wealthy if you are applying to private university and this brings lot of doubting pressure in your visa application. Stop your application and reapply to federal university. It will help you a lot . Nonetheless, there re few private universities which are highly recognized but public universities are still the best especially for foreign applicants. |

AbelAbdul:You are worrying yourself too much....If I understand your question correctly, you are saying that your statement of account shows online card payments you made for goods in those two countries, and you are worried the visa officer might think you travelled to those countries. Well, if that is your question, then the answer is no.... |

AbelAbdul:I was tagged and I do not fully understand your question, but yes, as a Nigerian, you do not want to complicate things. I am old school so It is better to use commercial banks or Microfinance banks listed under NDIC. PLEASE. https://ndic.gov.ng/list-of-insured-institutions/list-of-commercial-banks/ You are already coming at a disadvantage do not complicate things for yourself.... also from the bank you are using please also get a Bank Letter/Reference Letter also very important..... if you have a foreign account that is also good but any plaform just show transperency

Chigbo55:How much are your total school fees for the 2 years? Apart from the 50 million, do you have another proof of funds that does not involve your in-law as your sponsor? IRCC generally prefers to see the source of the 50 million and the movement of the money into your GIC. In summary, they want to know where the money came from...how it was made GIC does not garante anything Not using account statement to IRCC is already a red flag As for him using only a T1, that will not work. even with the Bank statement He needs to back it up with (1) 3 years of Notice of Assessment from CRA, which is very important. (2) an employment letter or contracts for the jobs he has been doing over the past 3 years, (3) 6 months of recent pay stubs. Even though he is your sister’s husband and you both have a good relationship, you still need to explain to IRCC why your sister’s husband is genuinely interested in sponsoring your education. does he have a history of sending investing in your education or certification ...its easy to show that with parents of sibling but an external family member no it will not....that's the real challenge.. |

Omoniyimi12345:I applied to a school in Ontario in less than 48hrs I got an offer. I have gotten 10 admission offers from schools in Canada. Some sent conditional offer letters asking me to meet those conditions before issuing final unconditional offer letter. Some issued unconditional offer letter direct. It's a private university so what do you expect? They need money so the would careless about your academic qualifications. Please make sure you collect PAL/TAL from them o. Also make sure the school is DLI before you pay any money o. |
