Hello all, please I'd like to be enlightened on the current charges of bricklayers for casting lintel.

The said building is 2 bedroom. I'm trying to have an idea of the current cost to guide me in negotiating with my bricklayer.

If it is not round lintel, budget average of 120k but if it is going to be round budget average of 200k.

No one here can give u a perfect figure for ur question....payment depends on ur location....you can't compare the price of paying a bricklayer/labour in lagos state with the same thing in abuja or Anambra....so price diifers...
Instead, try and have modest conversation with ur bricklayer nd come into a perfect conclusion and you guys are good to go. Period

Yes i understand, but dealing with this my bricklayer, i just have to have an idea.. The guy knows how to take advantage of one's ignorance.

He told me he charges 200k just to lay 1 block. Says bricklayer 12k, labour 8k. He didn't know i know they charge 10k for bricklayer, 5k for labour. Which is 150k contrary to the initial 200k he mentioned.

Get 5 quotations from five people that can do the Lintel..

It should give you an idea of the process and cost

Who told you that?? Mason is 12k, labor 7k-8k depends

Get a professional don't make the mistake I made, mine cracked from lintel down to foundation.

Most of you from Lagos on this platform always feel everyone here is a Lagosian. I often see posts here making reference to Lagos and wants everyone else to be abreast with it. Someone just guided you on how best to get the information you seek, instead of returning to your post to review it stating your location, you are here still trying to say at least someone here should be able to help out. Nairaland is not meant for Lagos discussion only undecided

Casting of concrete is usually charged per bag of cement casted. If you can estimate how many bags of cement it will take to cast the whole lintels, it will give you a fair idea

N200 per block is not too much since it's negotiable so you had better keep him if his work is good.

Is it to cast the lintel or build from foundation to lintel?
Because the question was "for lintel".

If it's the block work from foundation to lintel, you may negotiate as contract (for the entire work) based the numbers of blocks at 100 naira per block.

If its lintel casting, pay based on daily pay for concrete work that's after the carpentry work.

Let us understand what you're asking.

Are you asking for the daily cost for a mason to control concrete pouring for the lintels of your house?

OR

Are you asking how much bricklayers collect to lay blocks daily from the dpc to the 9th course (lintel height)?

Because both scenarios have different pricing templates.

Charge per cement bag of concrete mixed for pouring, only applies to the labourers doing the sand/stones measurement and subsequent mixing.

There's a daily fixed price for mason control and that price differs by location and volume of lintels poured on the day.

200 not 200k...150 not 250k..

The price he gave you is what they pay in some places like port Harcourt..here in Benin masons take 10k labour 7k....so it depends on your location...as for the lintels, you can decide to do daily pay...if it's hand mix, you can get 5 labourers and one mason then monitor them as they work, you can save cost ...

Lintel concrete curing does not necessarily require 14 or even 21 days for solidity. This template applies to axial/bi-axial wall arcs for commercial buildings, culverts, slabs and deckings.

Five to seven days of sun and air exposure gives you solid enough lintels for leveling to commence for residential apartments.

As long as he is good in his job, bargain with him on the price. negotiate with him, then given the job to him. no need to know the exact price of the work. the matter is how quality, how good is the bricklayer. you might get another bricklayer that will do it for far less cheaper price but rubbish work I hope you understand

Like the guy told you, locations differs. Truly some labours collect between 5k-8k and bricklayers 10k-13k

In my side of Ogun state which is almost Lagos State. Bricklayers collects 12k per day while labours collect between 6-8k per day
