| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by helinues: 7:41am On May 11 |
Yayi, Dapo Abiodun, Adelabu, Amosun have all been questioned why they want the Senate seat. No tribal, no party, no sentiments. Only if our brothers and sisters from the east can ask the same question about the likes of Uzodinma, Abaribe, Kalu and co representing their constituencies |

He will only be mandated to resign before being sworn in as a senator |

| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by LibertyRep: 8:06am On May 11 |
Na wah o. See permutation and combination. There should be a legislation to bar incumbent Governors from transiting into the Senate immediately after their tenure. They should at least wait for another cycle. |

Pierocash:Look between the lines, his election is not in the normal election timeliness, for him to go to Senate he has to resign or he will wait till 2031 |
| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by OredoPikin: 8:08am On May 11 |
Moroccoguy:He can only resign if he wins and after they have been sworn in and inaugurated which is June next year. He can't resign to contest |
| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by Okoyeeboz: 8:08am On May 11 |
helinues:Abaribe has been there for almost 2 decades with nothing to show. The other unripe albino slapping people about is doing his own. That one doesn't concern them, Sanwo Olu is their problem. As if those back in the East don't deserve good governance. |
| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by LibertyRep: 8:09am On May 11 |
So he'd be a sitting governor and still contest in the senatorial election. The law no too clear OredoPikin: |
| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by SlavaUkraini: 8:11am On May 11 |
The man will not resign. HE will find a legal loophole to remain as governor while still contesting for the Senate... His tenure expires in January 2028.... The next Senate will be inaugurated in June 2027.... So if he wins the Senate seat, he will still remain as governor for the remaining 6 months to complete his tenure.... His constituency will not be represented in the Senate during that 6 months period.... As soon as Baba completes his tenure, he will head straight to Abuja to be sworn in as Senator representing Imo West... |
| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by OredoPikin: 8:12am On May 11 |
LibertyRep:Yes But u can't hold 2 positions at the same time. He can only resign as governor from the day the new Senate will be inaugurated |

We still have a long way to go in this country. When the youths are not ready to lead, this same bunch of corrupt and incompetent men will do the leading. |
| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by LibertyRep: 8:17am On May 11 |
But these same people will pressure their appointees to resign if they have any political ambition. It does not seem fair. OredoPikin: |

That exchange between Akpabio and Oshiomole about the rules guiding running for senate president? It is because of the Imo state governor. |

That's why youth should always be tight with sound mind. That's the only way to kick all this greedy wicked old men out of active politics. As it stands now Nigeria doesn't need democracy anymore. We need a dictator that will retire and end all this old wicked bloody greedy evil men on the affairs of our nation... Authoreety: |

In Nigeria, politics (the political business) is considered the most lucrative sector compared to other jobs or businesses. The return on investment is significant, with a ratio of 1 to 1000; a politician might invest one million dollars and potentially generate one billion dollars in revenue. Overall, it appears that politicians primarily prioritize their financial gain over any other thing. |

...“My dear people of Imo West Senatorial District have once again called upon me to serve, and I have accepted this noble call with utmost humility, sincerity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to the collective advancement of our people,”... Who are the people calling upon him to serve? Supreme Court people? |

helinues:Dapo Abiodun, Yayi and co were questioned by who? For your information, Hope Uzodinma, OUK and Rojas are very unpopular in SE cos of their anticedence, so they don't enjoy the support of majority in the that region.. You have been on this forum long enough to understand the feelings of South Easterners towards these men you mentioned, so what are you trying to say? |

| Re: Uzodimma Joins Senate Race, May Resign As Governor by Pacesetter123(m): 8:37am On May 11 |
Pierocash:They mean during swearing-in as a senator by June 2027 and not during the election. By June 2027 when the inauguration of the Senate will take place,he would have still had 7 months remaining for his governorship tenure to elaspe. So,the resignation the Op is talking about only covers that 7 months period and not from now. So, you too try to be informed before taunting other Nigerians as not being informed. |
