I think Taye Taiwo was the last player to move from the NPFL to a top 5 league in 2005. That is very poor for the local league.
Recently Leonard Ngenge went to Leeds. Also Ejuke Uzoenyi went to France.

I hate to say it but I think they will at least make the quarterfinals.

Only African team that interests me is Senegal and maybe Ivory Coast.
if they make it QF and are humiliated then I will rejoice.

Senegal and CIV for me too

I remember Seyi Olajegbensi.
Seyi Olajegbensi played CB with ease, really surprised he had just eight caps for eagles, and most of those caps was his time as NPFL player.

Taye Taiwo moved straight to Marseille main team and was a regular in the team. Benjamin ain't even played for Brentford main team but the U20 youth side

Ngenge hv been released by Leeds United

He couldn’t even cut it in their 2nd team. Ejike Uzoenyi couldn’t cut it at Renne and was released too

So Taiwo remain the last to mk it to Europe’s top 5 league from the NPFL. Musa should be mentioned to if the top leagues in Europe extends to the Eirdivisie

Yes sir, but can we say the reason was because the NPFL was a better league then compared to now, or because of the numerous football academies all over the country now? Some of the players are not even interested in playing in the league, they are all in various academies.
Chief Kunle Soname once said Beyond Limits transfers more players abroad than Remo Stars.

Above is just one of the several posts on Akpe Victory currently doing his thing in Hungary.

Well, Transfer rumors say Benfica are showing interest.....

Benfica has contacted the Hungarian club Zalaegerszeg about their 19-year-old Nigerian central defender, Akpe Victory, who has been a notable performer for the fifth-placed team in the Hungarian league. While Benfica has not yet made a formal offer, the club is interested in the player. Further action by Benfica will face competition, as it is reported that clubs from Germany, Spain, France, Scotland, and Switzerland are also observing the player.
The potential signing of Akpe Victory is expected to be a relatively low investment of approximately five million euros, as Benfica considers signing one or two central defenders to be a priority depending on summer departures and opportunities. Victory joined the Hungarian club in January 2026, has a contract that runs until June 2028, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €100k.

He has made 15 appearances this season scoring once.

Benfica are the other club to have made an approach, but Rangers are understood to be close to making an offer.

Fee expected to be in excess of €5m.🇳🇬

Below is Olumide Joseph Ajibolade... Head Coach of Beyond Limits FA and now asst Coach of the Golden Eaglets assisting Eboboritse (who is also head coach of Sporting Lagos FA and still a Super Eagles Match Analyst).
Please, if Remo Stars should get relegated this season, are they eligible to play in the NNL with Beyond Limits?

Well, according to the same rule that stopped BLFA from entering the NPFL last season after getting promoted, the answer is No. They wont both play in the NNL. One of them, most likely the Academy outfit, Beyond limits (BLFA) will have to drop a division or be limited to the TCC and other competitions alone but not the NNL.

The reactions from Rangers fans on X are not encouraging. They want the club to buy an experienced CB.
Same sentiment here, Benfica.

Hating aside, I have a nagging feeling that African teams will largely flop at this tournament.
