youngrichnigga:Nor mind them. Has anyone studied the rate of depression, psychopathy and substance abuse among Boko Haram, herdsmen, killers, and the prison inmates in Nigeria? Many don't know that mental health conditions are high but largely undiagnosed in such categories of people. Ignorance is bliss. |

Yemmysworld91:Then what you are dealing with is not clinical depression, but your everyday depressive thoughts. There is a huge difference. 😒 2. Religion does not cure clinical depression, which is why you will find that within religious circles, the suicide rates are no different from those outside of religion. Religion as a factor can be said to delay suicide, but it does not cure or prevent it. 😒 |

Yankiss:That is not true. That an issue goes largely unreported or tracked does not mean it is not prevalent. Clinical depression is not your "stuff happens" scenario. It is a mental illness, and mental illness is typically induced by trauma or biology. I compare it to being stalked 24/7 by a demon that you cannot shake off no matter how much you try; the harder and longer your efforts, the heavier the burden becomes.😒 2. Clinical depression has nothing to do with location. Right there in Nigeria, a comparable number commit suicide every single day. However, because of the poor healthcare system, many of the sufferers continue to go unnoticed. 😒 |

2mch:There is no truth to this. Reports have it that 80%-90% of women in Afghanistan are highly/clinically depressed, and by all metrics, Afghanistan is one of the many shit holes on the planet. The UN tracks these things in places like Afghanistan, where UN presence has been almost constant for at least the last 50 years. Now compare that to Nigeria, where there are no reports or records on such things. 😒 Please stop spreading misinformation! 😒😒 |

Lanruze:I believe this is the real problem. People who suffer from clinical depression are mostly unable to get the help they need, hence the high reliance on unregulated drugs. 😒 |

happney65:First of all, your cousin may not have been clinically depressed to begin with. Second, every day in Nigeria, people commit suicide. If sending people to Nigeria were indeed a cure for all depression, then suicide should not exist in Nigeria at all, don't you think? 😒 Women and girls in Afghanistan account for a disproportionately high percentage of suicide attempts and deaths in the country—constituting up to 80% of reported cases. While exact national figures are difficult to track due to deep social stigma and the suppression of official data, human rights organizations have reported an alarming surge in female suicidesIf seeing the suffering of others is cure for all kinds of depression, then how come women in Afghanistan are not cured by the fact that their suffering is shared by most women in the country? 😒 |

judewrites:Depression is not greater in developed parts of the world. Rather, clinical depression goes largely undiagnosed for obvious reasons in underdeveloped countries such as Nigeria where the health care system is nothing to write home about. Women and girls in Afghanistan account for a disproportionately high percentage of suicide attempts and deaths in the country—constituting up to 80% of reported cases. While exact national figures are difficult to track due to deep social stigma and the suppression of official data, human rights organizations have reported an alarming surge in female suicides |

Kobojunkie:UN is known to not say the truth about so called developed countries. I am saying the truth because almost everyone is medicated for some sort of mental issue over like someone else mentioned. You think people who visit or travel over there dont notice. It may be normal to you which is why you are in denial but mental health issues is unusually high in first world countries. Even when you go online almost everyone in the comment section is talking about one medication or the other they are on. Many on psychotics and all from a particular part of the world. |

Kobojunkie:First, I didn't mention that I'm depressed. Depressed kee . I stand strong irrespective of the challenges. Last year was the most difficult of my life and I didn't fall into depression. I won ![]() Second, you only reiterated my point that religion helps prevent it by giving us hope. Hence you haven't said anything special. ![]() Shalom |
| Re: Antidepressant Consumption Per 1,000 People Per Day by Kobojunkie: 7:47pm On May 15 |
Yemmysworld91:1. You are not depressed and have probably never experienced clinical depression, but you are ABSOLUTELY SURE that it is a problem that can be easily resolved by looking around Nigeria. Typical black man mentality... the very reason why Africa remains the shithole it is to this day. 😒😒😒 2. I see that a lack of comprehension happens to be a major problem of yours. I NEVER SAID that religion gives hope, which prevents depression. I instead posited that religion delays suicide, not prevents it. Delay in the sense that fear of eternal damnation, which is preached by religion and not meant as any form of hope, could lead to delay in the carrying out of suicidal ideations, but ultimately, the sickness, if not taken care of, even then, tends to win out in the end.😒 There are more than enough stories out there of pastors taking their own lives in the end. Even the notorious TB Joshua is rumored to have taken his life in a bid to avoid prosecution for atrocities he was accused of. His religion did not prevent that.😒 |
| Re: Antidepressant Consumption Per 1,000 People Per Day by Kobojunkie: 7:50pm On May 15 |
2mch:The UN is not saying the truth regarding Afghanistan, but we are to believe you, who have no evidence, are speaking the facts? 😒 2. Here's someone who had not noticed that right there in Nigeria, the mental health epidemic is responsible for drug use in Nigeria. 😒 3. Because people who are getting help for their mental health issues are talking of one medication or another, you take that to mean the problems they are treating do not exist in Nigeria? This is atrocious reasoning at best. 😒 |

| Re: Antidepressant Consumption Per 1,000 People Per Day by Kobojunkie: 7:58pm On May 15 |
Basic123:. Neither entertainment nor religion solves the problem. If your source of hope does not cure the problem, then that hope is merely a phantom you hold on to, and it is only a matter of time before the problem completely overwhelms the phantom, as we have seen in numerous cases of religious people eventually ending their lives. 😒 |
| Re: Antidepressant Consumption Per 1,000 People Per Day by Kobojunkie: 8:01pm On May 15 |
IsraeliAIRFORCE:Even Boko Haram and ISWAP are rumored to take drugs to stay high much of the time, despite their religion insisting it is haram to do. 😒 |

Kobojunkie:I can see your know it all attitude, but I will give you probably one last attention First, I was not generic when I said moving around Nigeria and going on socials makes me happy. It was specifically for me. So, put on your thinking cap and stop being naive And on the second point, you just dey conflict yourself. You typed like someone high on drugs. Stop conflicting your mind. Fear of eternal damnation is hope in itself. You are trying to prove what doesn't exist.Last, you concluding with the TB Joshua rumour means I'm wasting my time arguing with a small mind. Cheers ![]() |

Anyone wondering about the fact that not one single African nation makes the global anti-depressant statistics listing, the reasons are that such data is rarely collected in Africa, but also that Africans have known for generations that cannabis can be the most effective anti-depressant, offering as it does cure with none of the side-effects seen with pharmaceutical anti-depressants.. Meanwhile rich agricultural soil and consistent 12-hour daylight hours make most of Africa IDEAL for the cultivation of medical marijuana, which is a FAR safer and more efficacious relaxant and antidepressant than anything manufactured in a pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory. The Nigerian House of Assembly will usher in a seismic transformation of the national economy overnight , once they complete the bold and historic assignment conveyed to them by the always mighty and ever righteous NDLEA Chairman, General Marwa. The National Assembly members have been directed to draft a new legislative proposal that will legalize and commercialize cannabis production for export in Nigeria, just as has been done in NINE other African nations.
