Yes sir, but can we say the reason was because the NPFL was a better league then compared to now, or because of the numerous football academies all over the country now? Some of the players are not even interested in playing in the league, they are all in various academies.
Chief Kunle Soname once said Beyond Limits transfers more players abroad than Remo Stars.
Yes we have good league then, even as at then i discovered that the talented butter boys who are not that serious desoite playing in NPFL made it to Europe after very few year in NPFL cuz of their mindsets not to waste in NPFL....my good friends Emma Olisadebe,Seyi Olofinjana,Dayo Ajoge,Seyi Olajegbensi followed their minds of moving out,and funny they graduated from university before moving out.....

Football career is not all about talent but solid tutorial on football developmental phases and reason why we see more academy boys making it,recently a boy named Khalid Adamu a Kwara State university graduate signed for sporting Gijon from street of Ilorin, even Adamu coach did not rate him much but the scouts saw what they wanted in him.

Yes most scouts preffered academmies for recruitment cuz of age factor, not easy to see 16-20 year of age in NPFL and age is the determinant, they even like 6ft height young boys.

CIV's Final WC Squad. Bonny, Amad, Yan, Bazoumana, Adingra is back, Pepe, Wahi, Guessand... CIV took their best forwards. Midfield is basically same as we saw in the Afcon.

Belgium's Final WC Squad.... No Arthur Vermeeren, No Openda, No Mika Godts of Ajax. Solid Belgian roster. One of the Solid Outsiders/Darkhorses.

Eric Chelle should not be coerced into including underperforming NPFL players in the team for the Unity Cup.
Many players in the diaspora can improve the team immediately.
This is the perfect time to test them and know what they can offer going forward.
We should not take our friendly match against Portugal lightly.

I hope the Squad list for the Unity Cup drops tonight.

Potentially Scary you mean. Bonny is yet to hit double figures in a league campaign in Europe since he turned pro around 2020/21. So he is a fine talent but not exactly commanding the fear factor that the likes of Drogba wielded going into CIV's first world cup in 2006.

You remember the first "Bonny" of CIV? Wilfried Bony? Same one a young Iheanacho outshone at Man City under Pellegrini? Yeah, he also had better numbers while at Swansea (@25) and before Swansea at age 22-23.

So let him play his first game for us to really know how much he will add to CIV's attack. Yan and Amad as wingers should make his debut somewhat easier but time will tell.

Watch out for ivory coast they Frontline is scary

Doumede of Leipzig

First game vs Ecuador on June 15.

CIV's attack vs Ecuador's strong defence. It would be a game to watch and enjoy.

Na Curacao go feel the wrath of CIV's attack. Lol

Wilfred Ndidi starts for Besiktas vs Rizespor in the Super Lig. MD 34... last matchday round of the Turkish 2025/26 Super lig season.

Ndidi and Besiktas has secured UECL qualification already by virtue of their 4th place finish, 4 pts above Anthony Dennis' Goztepe in 5th.

To dey read all these world cup lists and news dey pain me especially when I think about our own players, what they could have achieved also,as we discuss other countries chances.

Osimhen+Akor,Lookman, fit Aina,in form Iwobi supported by Onyeka and Ndidi,Bassey Marshalling our defense with either Frederickor Fernandez.
The only worry would have been goalkeeping department, Nwabali would still be my pick because of his form with the super eagles.

Our team would have done very well, possibly beyond second round.

@Elyte89, before you come for me,this is tournament football, the super is always better in tournament football than qualifiers.

Tunisia's Final WC 2026 Squad

Japan, Netherlands and Sweden await them.
19 y/o Karlsruher SC Center forward, Louey Ben Farhat who made his debut for Tunisia vs Haiti and then against Canada in the last international break in March/April has rejected a World Cup place with Tunisia and this is why he is not named to their final WC Squad.

Just when you think the NFF can finally get out of their own way, they pick up a shovel and keep digging.

Nothing surprises me again, but I just sometimes wonder how they continuously make brain dead decisions like this.
This same man brought out these guys
1. Efe ambrose
2. Brown Ideye
3. Ben Franklin
4. Nnadi
5. Nosa Igiebor
6. Elderson Echejiele
7. Obiorah Nwankwo
Just stating facts.

With Sporting Lagos' Clinton Lawani called up to the U20s, then the younger 15-16 y/o Ebenezer Harcourt should drop down to the U17s as he was not called. Decision rests with Eboboritse shaa who is also Head Coach of Sporting Lagos FA.

Michael Kayode reacted about the country he could play for at the national team: “I’m happy that the Nigerian people are happy for me. The opportunity to play for both is amazing," he once said.

“I will always give priority to Italy: even at the youth level, I grew up wearing the Azzurri shirt. I hope to achieve this dream as soon as possible, but I have no doubt about which path to choose.

“Yes, we also had dinner with other Italian Premier League players. I was doing well; I felt involved even without being called up for the play-offs.

“For now, I’m only focused on qualifying for Europe with Brentford. We can aim to qualify for the cup until the end, so we don’t want to let our guard down.

“The Azzurri shirt would be a big achievement, unthinkable until a few years ago, but I’ll think about it in a few weeks.” (via Tuttosport)
