There were no dramatic symptoms. Just small things he had been ignoring for a while such as headaches once in a while, fatigue, poor sleep and occasional dizziness he always brushed off as stress.

Nothing felt serious until it suddenly was. It js that moment that changed my understanding of hypertension.

Most times, it does not come with loud warning signs. It works quietly in the background, damaging the heart, brain, kidneys, and eyes over time. Many people only find out when the situation has already become serious.

The causes are not far-fetched. Stress, poor sleep, unhealthy diets, lack of exercise, alcohol, smoking, kidney injuries and delayed medical checkups are becoming normal lifestyle patterns.

Another worrying habit is stopping medication once symptoms reduce. Hypertension does not go away because you feel fine. It can still be damaging your organs silently.

Simple habits make a big difference. Reducing salt intake helps. Regular exercise helps. Better sleep helps. Managing stress helps. Routine checkups help.

Check your blood pressure. Encourage someone close to you to do the same. Sometimes prevention starts with a simple conversation.

I almost died of hypertension last year.

To make it worse, the doctor, instead of advising how to manage my health, he prescribed a drugs to manage the hypertension.

I depended on the drugs and it got worse.

Since I've changed what I eat and exercise everyday, its over 6months now since I trashed the drugs they gave me in the hospital.. And I have since been better than I've ever been in my life.
Pls, my family member is on the drug .

Pls, how did you manage it?

What food did you change ?

Well, in as much as this message is very very important, I don’t think 158/90 is a reading fatal enough to kill your friend, unless this is just for educational purposes though or he has another underlying health condition you guys weren’t allow of, like heart, liver or kidney disease or diabetes.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE REGULARLY PLEASE. !!!!
lol u don't get, if the BP. Is 158/90 in resting state imagine how high he will be when stressed or tensed up, that BP. Could skyrocket to 180 which is deadly..

So, to begin with, I wasn’t actually hypertensive. I had just adopted some lifestyle habits that were affecting my heart rate and blood pressure readings.

For example, I was taking a lot of coffee because of exams, eating a high amount of toast bread, hardly exercising, and barely eating fruits.

It got to the point where even small anxiety could trigger a very high blood pressure reading.

The first thing I did was stop coffee. I also stopped toast bread. I cut down salt significantly in my food, only using a small amount occasionally in stew. I don’t really take sugar, and I cut it out completely.

For fruits, I started blending watermelon and beetroot and storing it in the fridge. I take it in the morning and at night, about three days a week. I also try to eat at least one fruit after lunch—especially apples. Even one apple a day, or a slice of watermelon, helps.

The most important change I made was walking. As simple as it sounds, it was the main factor that helped.

If you’re using an iPhone, you can download the Apple Fitness app and aim for at least 5,000 steps daily. Take stairs whenever you can. Walking alone is still very effective. I usually do at least 8,000 steps a day, and I jog most of the time as well.

Also, try to get good sleep. Walking actually improves sleep quality.

Honestly, after changing my lifestyle, even while still on blood pressure medication, I started experiencing low blood pressure readings. That’s why I eventually stopped the medication.

However, I wouldn’t advise anyone to stop their medication unless they consistently monitor their readings and confirm that their blood pressure has significantly improved..

It is you that doesn’t get it. If not you will know already what SYSTOLIC and DIASTOLIC means and not talk about resting state again or when stressed up.

If stress is the issue, then he should do a scan to check that like ECG, ECHO or so. Like I said earlier, that figure isn’t fatal enough to KILL his friend.

The W.H.O recommends that it is ONLY an emergency when systolic pressure gets to 180 and diastolic gets to 120.

Even some people still walk around with figures much higher than that. Always do your research and stop embarrassing yourself online. Note that I also said people should check blood pressure regularly and also take their medications. I am not in support of those that are careless with their health.

DO HAVE A GREAT DAY. BYE !

shutup and rest with all the big big words, BP above 150 is dangerous, it's stage 1 hypertension diastolic above 100 is a ticking time bomb so keep shut and learn, make ur own research..hypertension has stages, fact that it's not up to 180 doesn't mean it's not dangerous dp u know what blood pressure entails? Do u know the literal meaning of high blood pressure?
