The question I do ask is that, if you receive a debit of 500k that you didn't initiate, what will you do.... Won't you go to the bank first thing in the morning?

If you don't want trouble just don't spend that money. A friend of mine had similar experience years ago, his account was credited with a huge some of money, he thought it was a blessing from GOD and started spending the money lavishly, I guess when the bank realized the error,they froze his account and contacted his next of kin (his dad). The bank threatened to get the father arrested if he couldn't provide his son or return their money.The father returned the money o. So don't be in a rush to touch the money, wait for like 6-8 months and see if the bank will make the reversal or someone might contact you.

If you carry your money go dash bank people you be OYO, it maybe your family member or anyone related to you check very well u may need to make contact calls before proceeding to the bank

Do a mail to your bank to log your complaint (save copy the mail for reference). Your bank can avail you details of the sender/money source if you request for it
If the fund remains in your account and you still cant trace the source, ask the bank to place that specific amount on lien.

If any one ever contact you about error transfer request you to return the fund - please ensure that you transfer back to the originating account. Don't allow yourself to be unwittingly used as conduit for money laundering/outright fraud.

Don't touch it, keep it for 2 months, if you don't get a notice about it, its yours. I have been double paid by a bank before. Life went on.

If the money was from a kidnap proceed and op spends it, he becomes an accomplice. Some people are in jail for this already.

Nawa o. Why Una dey fear like this. I thought we have a common agreement on this forum that if we see free money like this we'll first buy crypto with it. Why are you rendering your own account useless simply because someone mistakenly sent you money. Use the money and when they contact you, you pay back, like the thing is that you don't deny receiving it. It's when you deny and it's in the system that you received the money that'll cause it to be checked. E be like our education eventually na for keyboard e end

I'm in a similar situation. Got a transfer of 200k since 24th April till now nobody has contacted me about it. I've left the account for them to reverse the money whenever they are ready. I don't want trouble

My own is don't touch the money and also don't report to anybody.
Give it time like over a month and if no reversal or anyone contacting you, so pe otilo.
In 2022, I was sent 40k like that. Then I was an Uber driver. I didn't touch that money till over a month. Both bank nor anybody contacted me about it. From the next month I used it o, even though if they had later ask for it I would have summit it back kia kia.
But till date, nothing like that happened

Wait for some time.
The bank might reverse the transaction.
If after a month, no one contacts you for the Money.
Spend it judiciously.

My brother, i will advice u wait until the owner of the money calls you , then interrogate the person thoroughly, before u send the money back instalmentally

You have two things to do

1. Report the matter to tbe police and get a complain serial number...for your own good .
2. Report it to your bank

Go home and rest
