Assalaam Alaekum Wa Rrahmatullah Wa Barakatuh *EIDUL ADHA* *(ILEYA)* *Eidul Adha* - also called _Eid al-Adha_, _Festival of Sacrifice_, or Eidul Kabir_Big Eid_or Ileya - is one of the two main Islamic holidays. *What it commemorates* It honors Prophet Ibrahim’s [Abraham’s] willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to Allah. When Ibrahim was ready, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram. The story is in Qur’an 37:102-107.[Suratul Saaffat] *When it happens* On the *10th day of Dhul Hijjah*, the last month of the Islamic calendar. it follows *Arafah Day* on the 9th Dhul Hijjah, when pilgrims stand at Mount Arafat during Hajj. *2026 dates*: - Arafah Day: Tuesday May 26, 2026 - Eidul Adha: Wednesday May 27, 2026 *Key practices* 1. *Eid prayer*: Special congregational prayer after sunrise on the 10th Dhul Hijjah. 2. *Qurbani/Udhiyah*: Sacrifice of a Sheep, Goat, Cow or Camel for those who can afford it. The meat is divided into 3 parts - for family, relatives/friends and the poor & needy. 3. *Takbir*: Reciting _“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil hamd”_ from Fajr of Arafah day until Asr of the 13th Dhul Hijjah. 4. *Giving charity & visiting family*: Emphasis on sharing food and connecting with people. It's always Yummy Yummy, Meaty Meaty. *How it differs from Eidul Fitr* - *Eidul Fitr*: Marks the end of Ramadan fasting. It’s about gratitude and breaking the Month-Long fast. - *Eidul Adha*: Marks the end of Hajj. It’s about sacrifice, obedience and charity. It’s a 3-4 day holiday in most Muslim countries, with the first day being the main Eid day. We Pray Allah to Continue to Guard and Guide us Aright Protect us Have Mercy on us Increase us in Knowledge Sustenance and Piety and Enable us become Better MUSLIMS Better NIGERIANS. Happy Jumaat, Happy Weekend, Happy Eid in Advance |

Are Muslims serving god of sun. Why waiting for sunrise at noon to offer the animal. Facing the sun. Surely allah can not be the true God |
| Re: Eidul Adha (ileya) by Gboom: 2:47pm On May 22 |
Some so-called Muslims who no dey near mosque will use salah sacrifice as a decoy for their own personal sacrifice, eaters of salah rams beware because they no dey put am for face |

Interesting. But how did you know it was Ismail that Allah instructed Ibrahim to sacrifice? Why would Allah require a human sacrifice? I understand the Christian teaching about God requiring a human sacrifice, since they consider it as a pointer to the coming Christ who will be offered as a sacrifice for the sins of the world, thereby supporting the teaching that someone can pay for the sins of another (but that someone will himself have to be without sins to qualify, if not, he will only be paying for himself). However, it is against the core teaching of Islam for Allah to require a human sacrifice, because it will point to nothing, since no man can bear the burden of another. Please OP, can you kindly explain why Allah required Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as a test, even though he had a plan to provide something to replace Ibrahim's son? What does it foreshadow? Let us have a healthy conversation. Much respect. I want to learn, so please, let's hear you. |

Gagare1:You seem to explain your knowledge beautifully well. Your country Nigeria will be a better place if the same energy is used to understand and explain everyday happenings and even academic works. You religious people have a sickening bias with how you explain issues to yourselves. Scholars included. |

In all honesty, I do not think I need to prove to you my personal contribution to the betterment of Nigeria, in my own small way. And certainly, I am not to blame for whatever you believe to be wrong with Nigeria. Now, I believe you know that it is no crime to engage in a healthy conversation on whatever subject. Anyway, your point is noted. Now, do you have anything to say concerning the questions I raised, or did you only need someone to aim at, religious people in this case? Personperson01: |
