Musk highlights Chinese railway station spanning 170 football fields! Elon Musk, ranked the world's richest man by Forbes with a net worth of US$807.7 billion, spotlights China train station's vast multi-story structure, sprawling glass-roofed halls and integrated transport network, attracting more than 56 million views online. One widely circulated comment under the video read, "Welcome to the future! China now operates the world's most extensive high-speed rail network." The station in Chongqing's Nan'an District commenced operations in June 2025 alongside the opening of the Chongqing East - Qianjiang section of the Chongqing - Xiamen high-speed railway. The line is designed to support trains traveling at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, according to Chinese news site CGTN. The station houses 15 platforms and 29 tracks, built to handle up to 16,000 passengers every hour, Xinhua News Agency reported. The station building spans eight floors with a total construction area of 1.22 million square meters, equivalent to 170 standard football fields. Its roof covers approximately 120,000 square meters and weighs 16,500 tonnes. What is most shocking about this world's largest railway station is the fact that it was built in just 38 months on a mountain! 38 months that countries like Nigeria would have wasted in clearing the site after over inflating the project cost to enable government officials steal more than enough through the project — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 18, 2026 |

The Chinese are on a whole new level. Not a day passes by that you don’t hear news of groundbreaking innovation from the Asian giant. Compared to this dysfunctional country I really envy those people |

We Nigerians are quick to appreciate good projects but yet kills such initiative in our country! 1. Buhari in 1984 shut down the Metroline that the government of Lateef Jakande proposed for Lagos. 2. Some Nigerians are today criticizing the Coastal Road and the Lagos, Sokoto Road. We need to support transformative project irrespective if whether we like the government in power or not. It's our resources, it out life time |

Lifestone:Which coastal highway? The one that Tinubu's government awarded to Hitech, a company that Tinubu's family have a stake in? Is that how Xi Jinping awards government contracts in China? If Nigeria was China, Tinubu and his entire cabinet will be languishing in jail after a nationwide protest rocks the nation demanding his immediate removal for constitutional violations, nepotism and bias leadership! The coastal highway project that was awarded with corruption and violation of our national laws which states that every government project contract must pass through public bidding and contract vetting and awarding processes that involve hundreds of contractors submitting their bids and quotations, but your coastal highway got awarded without public bidding and with over inflated cost that can even complete this very largest railway station being talked about. Please if you dont have something meaningful to say, just scroll. Meanwhile, Chinese government didn't abandon their dilapidated old railway stations to start this new railway station just to score some cheap point and to steal China money from the overpriced project. Abeg pack one side, we are talking about serious nations governed by sincere leaders that are working for the communal prosperity of their nation and you are talking about Nigeria led by a cunning man ruling Nigeria with bias mind and nepotism to favor only his people and region against other parts of the country, is that how Xi Jinping developed China? Have you ever visited China before? I have and I almost cried like a baby even without knowing. Plz dont get me upset pls pls |

PulaPower:That is a honest and bold man talking. That's the difference between white people and black people. Meanwhile, in Nigeria, Aliko Dangote and all other government made billionaires dont care about how the current corrupt leaders are destroying Nigeria. They don't care as long as their companies are getting tax waivers, forex waivers, government favors to keep expanding while their nation is being destroyed. Do you ever hear Nigerian fake billionaires criticize bad government or leaders in Nigeria? The answer is NO and you know why? Because their wealth came from the government and they know criticizing the government will affect their government made wealth unlike Elon Musk whose wealth have no ties to US government and reason he can boldly criticize Donald Trump's government without fear. And truly Trump is destroying America gradually without knowing. Americans really need to do something fast to save America like Elon Musk have been telling them. |

Lifestone:You sound like you haven't been in Nigeria for a long time, and have no idea of how things actually work or have chosen to turn a blind eye to the motives of most Nigerian politicians. The China you speak of invested heavily on human capital development years ago, which is providing dividends today. You barely hear of China outsourcing projects, and are a producing nation. You don't compare that to a country who hasn't gotten their politics right, and have biased, political fanatics for a people. |
| Re: Chongqing East Railway Station: Biggest Railway Station In The World by Osgilliat(m): 7:18am On May 23 |
franchasng:If you like get upset and downset. Nothing will stop that coastal road. Tinubu will keep working on it, he’s prepared for naysayers like you who always finds faults in every situation. Xi Jiping rules like a dictator but one with a vision and love for his country, he’s more interested in achieving success for his country rather than going through rigorous process to get things done. Do you think bureaucracy will get a project like that completed within 38 months? Wake up dude! If Tinubu follows procedure as you suggested, he will still be in the bidding phase by now. Other projects in the past that follows procedure how are they going? Always criticizing and complaining. Who cares |

That’s what the world needs. Progress, development, peace, decent societies. The world needs great thinkers and great leaders. The world needs leaders who will leave it far better than they met it when they were born. A clear example is Li Quan Yu and his great works in Singapore. While the Chinese, Americans, Japanese, Singaporeans, Malaysians, Taiwanese, Saudi Arabians, UAE and the rest, work hard to make the world great, the Iranians are very busy building weapons of mass destruction and spreading terrorism to destroy the world. One continues to wonder why the wicked Mullahs in Iran and their evil proxies and supporters continue to exist with their acts of wickedness endlessly. While they out of jealousy chant “death to America”, “death to Israel”, the Americans and Israelis continue to grow and prosper. While the vampires in Iran continue to destroy their own country, their children and grandchildren live happy, finding fulfillment in the countries that they work hard daily to destroy. While some continue to show us how beautiful China is, they prefer American citizenship. Even the Chinese prefer American citizenship. In all one must appreciate the beauty and effort of the Chinese government. We also hope that Nigerians leaders can cut off corruption and build a beautiful society worthy enough for the future of their children and grand children. |

Lifestone:I am one of those criticising the coastal road because it is not key infrastructure. It is a contractor led elitist initiative based on some nice looking front garden utopian plan. Key infrastructure means it is badly needed for socio economic development. Will enhance business and trade and reduce the existing costs to citizens and enterprises. In a regime of escalating uncontrollable costs of fuel, new highways will hardly reduce costs and will certainly not return on investment. What you see in the picture/video is exactly what we should be doing. An effective integrated rail system to link all state capitals and major industrial hubs to draw down the present cost of cross country transport and haulage. Invest in rail systems and you will surely return on investment because it is fully integrated. Every penny paid by a passenger or kilogram for goods can be accounted for unlike road where the best you get is tolls fares which hardly scratch the surface of the costs of such infrastructure. There is no country in the size bracket of Nigeria or with the same economic poise that does not have at its core a functional national rail system. India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Egypt, all of them rely heavily on railways for freight in particular and that is why we simply cannot compete with them in manufacturing and exports when it costs upwards of 3 to 5 million naira to move a semi-truck load of goods from south to north when a single rail car can do that for 500,000. Have you seen what the massive, unregulated, overloaded semi-trucks are already doing to portions of Abuja - Lokoja concrete highway.... We are just wasting our time and money on strategic transportation errors. China did not develop this way. The fancy things you see today are out of an established economy. The basic, fundamental things that created the established economy are the things we should learn from them. |

Reference:Absolutely agreed with you. Now looking at the humongous amounts budgeted for that coastal road project, why did the federal government in this contemporary period fail to add rail to the project? If the leaders in the past failed to develop rail, how are the present leaders overlooking it. Rail in very critical in every great country, whether surface or underground. Our leaders travel all over the world and use surface and underground rail systems. How is it that even the capital of Nigeria cannot boast of rail network traversing the length and breathe of such a city with a massive landmass? The minister boasts every day of how he has transformed the city to a world class city. Do world class cities not have very good rail systems? We need to get great leaders into positions in this country please. |
