Life In Ghana Compared To Nigeria (must Read) by Davidtolu12(m): 10:06pm On May 03, 2020
I lived in Accra since 2013. Though I'm back home now in Nigeria but it was a great experience I had in Ghana to meet, sleep and dine with foreigners.
Ghanaians are very friendly people, mostly there females are much more friendly than males. But take note, there males which use to be your good friend before, could start to hate a Nigerian male once the Nigerian start earning some good money from there country. You can get along well with Ghanaian females, once you got some change to flex, or even just sweet mouth.
In Ghana, you find western foreigners using the local transportation system called Trotro with locals but in Nigeria it's very very rare to see a white person in Danfo or even okada. You might see white people use there own private car or escorted by military securities vehicles in Nigeria but not the case in Ghana. Everyone works freely even at midnight.
As a Nigerian, don't come here looking for jobs cause the Cedes is more than the Naira. You'll be disappointed, big time. I've seen some big hotels even pay as little as 100 Ghana cedes to there staff and they are more than happy with the money cause that's a lot for a Ghanaian but not a lot for a Nigerian, that's just about 8000 Naira per month.

saying cedes is more than a Naira clearly shows you didn't understand what you are struggling to point out here.
And know this, most of the whites you are seeing in Ghana are tourist while in Nigeria most of them are Important personal whose are into oil industries, construction and diplomatic mission, you don't expect them to be using public transport like those in Ghana.

Do you read what you wrote?

So the foreigners in Nigeria are using private transport because they are company staff? Note also that the transport they use also belongs to another white? This implies that the money goes back to their home country.

2. With the kind of porous security, no foreigner will want to take chances.

3. Never cover our unclothedness. Nigeria is such a risky place to operate.

You tried but you can do better, for your information 100 Ghana cedes is equivalent to 80 naira Nigeria money.Purchasing power of the currency is what you consider in relatives to a dollar not zeros at the back of figures.

100 ghana cede equal to 80 naira?
100 Ghanian cedes is equivalent to 6,700 Nigerian naira.
1 cedes is 67 naira

Modified: you were actualy right, since you were talking about purchasing power

He said purchasing power of currency not exchange rate, probably because he used economics terminology that is why you don't understand it. What Ghana did was to remove the last two zeros from their currency. If we do ours it would be similar to theirs. Nothing special about that exchange rate because it can be devalued or valued anytime depending on what the Bank of Ghana says. What you should use to measure their economy is their economic growth and development not exchange rate

Look at this one, i'm talking about quality of life here.

70% of nigerians live below the poverty line,
while just 24% live below poverty line in Ghana.
In Ghana 92% people living in urban have access to a stable electricity while only 55% of people living in Nigeria urban cities have access to an Electricity

In my 7 years living in Ghana, Ghana's way of living is far better compared to Nigeria. In Ghana I move freely at midnight and its kind of a 24 hrs economy in almost every busy street, You can buy food at 2am. There is street light installed in most streets at the city where I lived making it difficult for criminals to operate. Sometimes when I am bored I usually visit chilling spots in the ghettos and no-time did anyone embarrass me or steal from me on gun point. I have walked on the street in midnight hrs at three of the most dangerous areas in accra:Tudor (station), Madina and circle, yes you might likely encounter scammers there but rarely any person trying to steal from you by force.
Ghanaians like speaking their local languages on major radio/tv stations and official environments. There trotro buses(Ghana's own danfo) are mostly neat and well organized. Passengers in bus stations(motorpark) queue up to enter trotro.

You can't make comparison with two things you know nothing about.
You also cannot make comparison with one side of a thing you know and another side you know nothing about.
It's a blind argument.
Those saying Nigeria is Eldorado, surely have never left their states talk less the country.
I have never bring to Ghana (the OP has and have every information right to make comparison)
But if you have never bring outside Nigeria, then you would feel everything else anyone is saying is mere exaggeration.
I had same feeling until I travelled out of Nigeria in fact out of Africa and believe you me, every corner of this country irritates me.
Indeed this is a shit hole.

The Naira is actually higher than the Cedi, a lot of Nigerians have this misconception that it is the other way round , something a simple google search easily rebuff. The cedi is actually heavily denominated, with four zeros being removed . The current exchange rate is about 1 cedi = 66 Naira , in reality it is 10,000 cedis = 66 Naira . Do you know that average salary of B.sc holder in Ghana is not less than 3500 Cedis ina month now convert that to dollar before bring it to useless naira

Why do you sound so angry ? I gave you what was fact where it clearly states that the Cedi is Re- denominated, and even provided the option to google to verify what I posted yet this was your reply ? I’m not exactly sentimental about Nigeria or even the most patriotic, but the fact still remains that the naira is higher than the cedi . Please before you engage or react on issues in a public forum like this, endeavor to do your research and try to state your point in a calm and clear manner , this is not a fight .

the Cedis is higher than the Japanese Yen, would you say Ghana has a better economy than Japan? and at the same time the Cedis is equivalent to the Chinese Yuan, would you also say they have a better economy than the Chinese?

Guy forget that theory.
Shit ain't working well for us. Our money keep on losing value.

Just weeks ago here on nairaland, we were talking about washing machine and I checked the price of washing machine I bought around 65k on jumia 6 yrs ago, behold it's sold 125k as at that day on Jumia.

It should be depreciating not appreciating. This is simply to tell you that our purchasing power presently is nothing to write home about.

Give me 200 cedi and 200 naira, I will quickly take the cedi. Let's tell ourselves the truth here.
Our naira is bunkon

If you want to know the real value of the Ghanaian Cedis, add four zeros to the amount of the currency figure being displayed . On paper the cedi might seem strong but that is the essence of re-domination, it is mostly for ease of transaction and aesthetic . With the new Ghanaian Cedi issued in 2007, four zeros were removed while the value of the currency remains the same . In actuality, 1 cedi = 10,000 Ghanaian Cedis .

50 cedis is actually 500,000 cedis and so on . Nigeria dabbled with the idea of redominating our currency but decided against it ,if we had done so , 1000 naira would’ve been say N10 , which doesn’t change what N1000 would’ve gotten you before
