2027 Elections: Don’t Vote For Any Candidate Because Of These 6 Reasons by Odewaleadesoye(op): 8:17pm On May 24
...your vote is your power and your right, but please use it wisely.

As 2027 gradually approaches, political dramas, propaganda, emotional blackmail, and dirty games have already started flying around everywhere in Nigeria.

Before I continue, let me make this clear:
This write-up is not targeted at any political party or any particular candidate. Also, Mr. Odewale Adesoye AKA Green Man does not represent any political party or any particular candidate.

This is simply a message to Nigerians:
Please shine your eyes before voting in 2027.

Do NOT vote for a candidate because of these reasons:

1. DON’T VOTE BECAUSE THE CANDIDATE IS FROM YOUR TRIBE:
This tribal politics is one of the biggest problems holding Nigeria down.

A candidate being Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, Ijaw, Tiv, Ibibio, or from your ethnic group does not automatically make that person competent.

Politicians know many Nigerians are emotional about tribe, so they use it to divide us while they unite themselves in private to share power and resources.

Ask yourself:
-What has this person achieved before?
-How did they perform in previous offices?
-What is their track record?
-How do they treat ordinary people?
-Do they have plans beyond campaign slogans?

A bad leader from your tribe will still make you suffer.
Hunger does not know tribe.
Bad roads do not know tribe.
Unemployment does not know tribe.

Nigeria needs competence more than ethnic sentiments.

2. DON’T VOTE BECAUSE OF RELIGION:
Some politicians suddenly become “holy” during elections.

Today they are in churches.
Tomorrow they are in mosques.
Next tomorrow they are quoting scriptures everywhere.

But leadership is not about who shouts “Praise the Lord” the loudest or who appears most religious publicly.

Many leaders who claim to be Christians barely live like Christians.
Many who claim to be Muslims hardly follow the discipline and values Islam teaches.
Some traditionalists also only use culture when it benefits them politically.

Religion should guide personal morals, yes, but it should not blind citizens from asking serious questions.

A corrupt Christian leader is still corrupt.
A wicked Muslim leader is still wicked.
An irresponsible traditionalist is still irresponsible.

Nigeria has suffered too much because people vote emotionally instead of intelligently.

Do not allow politicians to use religion to scatter citizens against one another while they secretly dine together behind closed doors.

3. DON’T VOTE BECAUSE A GODFATHER IS BACKING THE CANDIDATE:
Most political fights in Nigeria are not about citizens.
They are mostly power struggles among elites.

One godfather wants control.
Another wants influence.
Another wants contracts.
Another wants appointments.

Meanwhile ordinary Nigerians are battling:
-insecurity
-inflation
-poor electricity
-unemployment
-terrible healthcare
-bad roads

When some politicians finally enter office, many focus on:
-settling political debts
-rewarding loyalists
-fixing family members into positions
-enriching friends and associates

The masses become secondary.

That is why citizens must stop worshipping political godfathers and start demanding accountability.

4. DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ONLINE ABOUT CANDIDATES:
This social media era is dangerous.

Many politicians sponsor people online to:
-praise them artificially
-attack opponents
-spread fake stories
-manipulate public opinion
-trend propaganda

Some comments you see online are from paid agents.
Some “supporters” are being funded.
Some fake news blogs exist purely for political business.

One candidate may look like a saint online but be terrible in reality.
Another may be demonized online because opponents fear them.

Do your own research deeply.
Read from different sources.
Watch interviews.
Check past performances.
Talk to people from areas where they previously governed or served.

Do not let Twitter trends, Facebook posts, WhatsApp broadcasts, TikTok clips, or online influencers decide Nigeria’s future for you.

5. DON’T FALL FOR EYE SERVICE DURING CAMPAIGN PERIOD:
Every election season comes with acting.

Suddenly politicians will:
-start eating roasted corn on the roadside
-enter keke
-visit markets
-carry babies
-wear cheap clothes
-trek on the streets
-enter public schools
-drink sachet water publicly

Some will even suddenly remember villages they ignored for years.

Where were they before election season?

Leadership is not content creation.
Governance is not cinema.

Do not confuse performance for camera with actual performance in office.

A person who ignored the people for years cannot suddenly become “man of the people” because elections are close.

6. DON’T SELL YOUR FUTURE FOR MONEY OR FOOD:
This is one of the saddest parts of Nigerian politics.

A politician who steals billions may return during elections to share:
-rice
-noodles
-cash
-Ankara
-recharge cards

Then people begin praising them.

Please understand this:
The money they are sharing is usually nothing compared to what citizens lose through bad governance.

N5,000 collected today can lead to four more years of suffering.

Vote-buying keeps bad leaders in power because they know they can simply “settle” people temporarily instead of serving them properly.

Do not sell your children’s future because of short-term hunger relief from politicians.

Nigeria deserves leaders chosen based on:
-competence
-integrity
-vision
-accountability
-capacity
-genuine service

2027 is coming.
Political games have started already.

Please shine your eyes, Nigerians.

Join a political party if you can. Participate actively in the democratic process.

And most importantly, Nigerians should get their PVCs and come out massively to vote during the forthcoming elections. Your vote is your power and your right, but please use it wisely.

Please vote wisely in 2027.

A message from
Mr. Odewale Adesoye AKA Green Man.

You mentioned it all

It's not about tribe but competency

Don't packaged a fraud bcs it's from your tribe then everyone must love him..

Don't attack others for their choice of candidates

Don't hype a candidate for others to votes bcs of your own personal opinion...

All of them were once in government and they have contributed to this mess we find ourselves. So don't tell me a candidate is Messiah while other is evil. All of them are part of what we are facing today

Don't vote because the candidate is contesting under a big party with big political structure.

It is that big party structure that has been holding Nigeria down.

The big party structures in Nigeria are usually built on criminality, and a gathering of the worst set of Nigerians who use money, thuggery and violence to overshadow others
Re: 2027 Elections: Don’t Vote For Any Candidate Because Of These 6 Reasons by Fiscus105(m):
The very first one, it's almost impossible for Nigerian voters to do away with.

They ready to follow their tribeman even if that person will come to power to take away their life.

And for second one, the core north ready to split than do away with their religion.

With this, the voters will perpetually, be a pawn in the hand of manipulators(politicians)

Why did Igbo throwing everything up now? Only for their kinsman to lead and nothing more, wen he comes, he loads his tribesmen into his govt, just like tyrant doing now and bubu did last term. The masses killing themselves for tribesman, will never ask, what did I gain personally?

So far my tribesman is on the throne, even if gas is 2k/kg, we are satisfied.

Don't vote because all parties have the same impression and agendas. Democracy can't work in Nigeria. Tinubu will win and suffering continues while people will survive as usual. Just stay indoors and leave them. Ire o

Nigerians are not ready to vote for a candidate that would promote fiscal accountabilty, end wasteful subsides and industrialize the country.

Too bad.

A very articulated and informed piece there. Kudos to Green Man for this wonderful piece.
The challenge is that majority of Nigeria electorates are not well informed hence politicians tend to manipulate them to their advantage.

Even this piece how many of the electorates can access it? Most of the electorates are not online. It is really a big challenge.

Even Obi left PDP because the party refused to zone their ticket which he insisted was the turn of the SE

I swear to Almighty God, the only reason I will be voting for Tinubu is because he is a Yoruba man. And till the end of time and politics, my vote is solely for Yoruba candidacy. If you even have a NON-Yoruba spouse , I won't vote for you even.

I can tell you that should Peter Obi become president and be recording one tenth of the failure Tinubu is posting today, the very people that will ensure that he doesn't get re-elected will majorly be Igbos.

I am not asking you to believe me but mediocrity has no place to hide in Igbo society. Up

No sensible person will waste precious time dwelling deeply to disabuse your penchant for self+deception.

When Peter Obi was governor, his track record for performance, accountability and altruism was know all over the South East and indeed many parts of Nigeria.

Consequently, you are free to believe what you want to believe but you know in your heart of hearts that Peter Obi is capable and will fix Nigeria...

And that is a cinch.
