Oya, no forming.. coman talk true.

One of the biggest jokes in the Digital space today is "make is sound very human". Human beings asking a machine, to make its output simulate a human. Who you dey whyne?

Of course, that's the beauty of technology, yen yen yen, people adapt. Some will give analogy of writing with pen, to using typewriter then word processors on computers - but in all these the skill of coming up with valid thoughts, logically related points and following grammatical rules was on you and steadily improved over time.

Now, most people jus throw in their "half formed" idea of what they want into any of the LLMs and gradually their writing or even reasoning skills begin to atrophy.

First, it was social media and terrible abbreviations, then people no longer knew when to use "am" vs "I'm", "is" vs "it's" vs "its", "there" vs "their".

Oh me? I love writing gan, I already do enough augmenting my daily tasks with AI alright, like coding assistant, but NEVER in expressing my thoughts.

So, who's up for a challenge... Test yourself if you still know how to write.

In no more than 250 words, write an essay on how you would improve the international image of Nigeria as a country, if you were the president.

For me, I can easily detect an AI content no matter how naturally you try to tone it.... Some even go to the extent of making intentional typos, sigh!

But here's how I strike a balance with getting impressed and not getting irritated; I realize that it takes a level of intelligence to get a top-notch response from the machine, I mean there must have been extra logical efforts or input which the machine will try to keep up with, so as not to reduce it's standard of intelligence, reason why there are different packages, i.e the free and premium subscription...

Nothing beats human intelligence, AI isn't bad, but it makes you lazy intellectually, the best one should use it for is to proof read or cross-check one's work, but as for creativity, it's a big NO for me...

What are the signs you look out for? Em dashes? Sequential use of big words for simple things? 😅

I think for corporate and official writing, it's still okay to just use these tools to speed up the communication - those ones kukuma lack "soul".

But writing as a means of informal communication, or for expressing ideas, apart from the human touch that the readers get, there's also this writer's high that comes from knowing a beautiful thought was penned down from your beautiful minsd

I look beyond that, there's always a clear difference between a natural thought process from that of a programmed one, even if you include dashes and make use of big grammar, a natural mind will still connect with it's kinds, likewise if you change the big grammars and remove the dashes and other highlights symbols just to conceal the suspicion of AI, the loop in thought process will still give you out, cos AI thought process is a compilation of data from different minds with different reasoning....

Yes, for corporate writing it's ok, but not to be 100 percent relied on, else you will end up with issues like similarities cos no be onle you sabi use AI cheesy

Your natural mind will make you unique....

But we prefer debate. Why should we discuss how to improve international image of Nigeria when Nigeria's image is at it best.
In terrorism, we are the most terrorized.
In corruption, we excel beyond the originators. In poverty, we are the capital. In criminality, we have no rival. So, how do you want us to improve what we are already best at.

If you think those are not a good image to associate Nigeria with, you should be asking how to change Nigerias image internationally and not how to improve it.

Change was the mantra. It was difficult but necessary. Many were hopeful. But then, what was considered bad went from bad to worse. The broken system that was still functional to an extent becomes a thing called dead. The change caused it.

Then came another regime under the change mantra that was praised for master strokes that transformed Lagos to a mega city. Only that the this new regime only cared about how much states gets. The can sing that achievement for ever without recourse to the value of those funds in foreign currency.

The worse had gone to worst yet they can't see it. They are politicians exposed to free tax payers money. How can they care? So praise singers are turned to advisers, naysayers not called opposition but enemy and hater of the country. Sighs.

This digression is necessary because asking for how to improve something that that the government has refused to accept it current state and take responsibility for it failure stirs anger.

The solution is not in improving any index but in positive changes that can be sustainable internally.

First, the currency has to go. Then fraudulent business practices has to be checked and the regulations and legislations has to be overhauled.

Tariffs has to be introduced. Especially to businesses selling their locally produced goods above imported variants. This will discourage importation and ensure our foreign exchange is not depleted while controlling the prices of these products in the market.

Research institutes has to be pressured to seat up. Good varieties of crops has to be introduced with longer filials so that farmers can have more yield which providing them with fertilizers at subsidized rates.

About security, you have to be aggressive enough to make sponsors to be afraid. Rewarding sponsors, be they religious or political figures embolden insecurity. This has to be handled with all manner of toughness. In the end, every one will queue to the progress being achieved.

Kaczynski:
If I were the president of nigeria a scenario that assume failure of my standards. I wouldn't waste a sec on branding. image is for people who think having a car makes them look rich.

Nigeria’s current international reputation is an unhandled exception an entropy disaster of corruption and infrastructural failure. to fix the image first i would purge the corrupt bureaucrats who treat the national treasury like a private server. I’d move every single government transaction, contract, and budget allocation onto a blockchain. no more missing billions. If a politician wants to move a single naira
the transaction must be signed, verified by a bunch of nodes second is the power grid a pathetic joke. a country without 100% uptime is just a collection of people waiting for a timeout. I would bypass the incompetence of nepa by implementing nuclear power pants. thirdly instead of being the world's headquarters for low-tier 419 social engineering scams, I would transform Nigeria into the global hub for technology. I’d lay a 100 gigabit backbone across the country and invite every tech company to set up shop here.
Ouch.... So being a president of this had-been, great nation will be a failure of your standards? How so little you think of us!

But nope... image, global perception is still important - think about the second thoughts that foreign direct investors have, think about the suspicion at visa embassies, etc of your citizens just because the name "Nigeria" has so much vile to it, that left to outsiders, were a plague of a nation.

I have always been writing, though might not be an essay but letters to my clients, workforce etc.....i also use Ai atimes, especially when I am not in hurry to send the letter. I often cross check my write up through Ai to smoothen my grammatical construction, check mistakes and make it better but in all, I don't depend or rely solely on Ai to do my write up. I love writing and infact, I get more inspired whenever I pick my pen or keyboard and start writing or typing.....

I had this chatgpt idea since 2013.

When i was writing my final year project.
I wanted to be able to read aloud or dictate and a system would transcribe into words.

It's same way we use AI now.
To write, you'd have needed to google ideas and all, refine grammar with dictionary or Grammarly...

AI just helped us do more.
If you're an average, you'd still use AI to produce average work.
Excellence still shine thru, even with AI refinement.

There's really no meed to "make it sound human"
Impit your own thoight, dissect it with same ai, bazed on the depth of youe own knowledge...

Of course!

I still write very well, on the job. I'm an engineer and project manager, I attend meetings and write, I sign requisitions and valuations, I write entire pages of instructions. With pen and paper.

I do not, DO NOT use AI for emails, even though I totally can. I compose my emails myself. I used Claude to do some tedious tasks, like repetitive stuff on Excel, and sometimes to outline some documents, but I personally flesh them up.

I like to think I'm pretty smart, and I don't want to be dumbed down by AI. I think AI is a drug. The elite want to get people hooked on it, then they start charging big bucks for it.

I don't know how people won't write, o, but I understand a lot of people don't really write anymore. A lot of them even use that annoying phone shorthand, full of stupid abbreviations and emojis.

AI is quite good, i agree, but it can mess you up with wrong outputs if you are not knowledgeable about the subject matter you prompt it to do. It is good as a work tool but can never replace human intelligence

Are you still watching your black and white TV or now using a smart TV?

Do you still send letters through the post office or now use the mail?

The machine is designed to ease our daily stress but don't recommend relying solely on it, you'll have to command it with your knowledge

If you don't have an idea of what you're using it for, you'll surely not get the desired result.

It's true! There is over reliance on use of AI in simple writings.
I once wrote a personal essay on an interesting topic. So I gave it out to one or two persons to help me proofread and critique the work. Guess what? They all used AI to check. The moment I saw their comments, I just knew that they were from AI.

.....I count myself lucky that I grew up when traditional writing was the norm. I remember writing my 100 level law exam with just pen and paper in my own handwriting, meaning it must be legible.
However, youngsters of these era, most especially the Gen Zs have never experienced this traditional format of writing, and this is partly not their fault, because their lives have been severely impacted by information technology. It takes a determined and disciplined youth to detach themselves from the aggressive intrusion of technology in their lives. Nevertheless I think the benefits of Ai surpasses its drawbacks. I personally believe using Ai enriches ones vocabulary.

I usually tell my clients that writing is a skill that no AI can replace. AI writing is often spotted with its monotony in sentence varieties which is absent in a skillful human writing

Improving Nigeria’s International Image
As President, I would prioritize repositioning Nigeria as Africa’s beacon of innovation, resilience, and opportunity. Our current image suffers from narratives of corruption, insecurity, and underdevelopment. I would change this through deliberate, visible reforms.
First, I would launch a zero-tolerance anti-corruption crusade with independent judicial oversight and full asset declaration for public officials. Technology-driven transparency platforms would track government spending in real-time, rebuilding trust with investors and partners.
Second, I would overhaul security by strengthening intelligence, community policing, and rapid-response units while addressing root causes like poverty and unemployment. Safe, stable Nigeria is the foundation for tourism and foreign direct investment.
Third, I would aggressively promote our soft power. A “Nigeria Global Creatives” initiative would export Nollywood, Afrobeats, literature, and fashion through strategic partnerships, cultural embassies, and digital diplomacy. I would also create a robust diaspora engagement program to harness the talent and influence of over 17 million Nigerians abroad as brand ambassadors.
Finally, I would diversify the economy by investing heavily in technology, renewable energy, agriculture, and skills development. Visible infrastructure wins and a thriving startup ecosystem would showcase a young, dynamic Nigeria ready for the future.
Within years, Nigeria would shift from being defined by its problems to being celebrated for its solutions and creativity. A confident, prosperous Nigeria would command respect on the global stage.
Re: Be Honest, Do You Still Know How To Write? by WhizdomXX(m):
Yes I do.
International image is strengthened not just by individuals but by Institutions. As a future President, I would ensure that the Judiciary comprises of the best, impartial minds that will not be beholden to any other arm of government and would truly be the last hope of the common man and the international investors. This will improve our business and foreign outlook as Countries will look at us as a Nation where there is rule of law and justice/supremacy of the law is free and all-encompassing,no matter whose ox is gored.
Another institution I would focus on is the Nigerian Armed forces especially given the current security situation in the Country. I would work with the advice of experts to instill peace across the savannah plains and Plateau hills. This in turn will create a safe environment for peaceful movement and return to farming, boost agricultural production, economic and business activities and increase industrial output, thus driving our GDP and in turn raising our Foreign exchange reserves from exported finished goods and services. I will also conduct an investigation and overhaul of the Power sector, ensuring our gas reserves drive Industrialization and the surplus exported for worthy value.
A major reform will also be INEC and the Legislature. I will conduct a national census that will help guide our development plans for the better half of the 21st century. Political office especially the Legislature will not be a cash cow for individuals but an opportunity to serve and the process of coming in will be excellent. The diaspora would have a voice in the election process and voting will be a civic duty for our best minds.
Finally, I would ensure our talent base from North to South, East to West are deeply invested in the success and prosperity of the nation by fair appointments, inclusivity in government and a merit-based, zero tolerance for corruption system in all of our government processes, especially in the civil service sector.
Thank you for listening and GOD bless you.
Together, Let's Make Nigeria Great Again.
