Our CB and midfield depth might be the best we've had in years, a golden generation type of depth.
Imagine a line up of

CB:
Bassey
Bengy
Igoh
Nwaiwu
Fernandez
Ajayi (still has at least 5 years of quality football in him if he stays fit).
And there are other potentials like Vince Osuji etc

Midfield
Iwobi
Ndidi
Onyeka
Onyedika
Frank the Tank
Dele
Nnadi
Tijani
Akin
David Moses
Femi (I think he's best suited for the CAM role )
Even Tosin from the NPFL looks exciting.

Alhassan Yusuf doesn't get enough credit for how good and composed he is, Onyedika gets all the hype but I think Alhassan is the better player tbh
You know ball.

Hyping of super chickens once they win one game.

I will take my humble pie and say that I was very impressed with Femi Azeez's play today. I love it when a player is given an opportunity and he grabs it with both hands. He was fantastic today, and he will definitely be promoted to the Super Eagles' team list for the Poland and Portugal games. The left back, who I believe was a home base player, also did himself a whole bunch of good today with his performance. Tochukwu Nnadi was everywhere, and his quality was glaring to everyone. He has established his stay in the super eagles. I really wanted to see Akinsamiro and Nnadi playing together in the midfield today, and this is why I was very mad at Ebenezer Akinsamiro for not making the match day squad due to coming to camp late. Yusuf was fantastic today. This is the best I have seen him play for the Super Eagles in a very long time. Chibuike Nwaiwu was immense today; what a beast of a player. He is definitely leaving Trabzonspor in the summer. Fulham is really pushing for him this summer. Igor Ogbu is a very solid player that I will always have in the Super Eagles. All in all, a good performance for the Super Eagles, and you can see that Eric Chelle is building a deep Super Eagles team. If NFF doesn't Bleep shit up, we should be a formidable team in the coming years.
I heard Femi excused himself from the June friendlies to sort out his club transfer.

Might be wrong, but I think Alhassan is closer to Iwobi in terms of creativity than all our current midfielders

Special Mention to Chibuike Nwaiwu alone.

He looks so much like a faster/more mobile version of the Powerful towering CB legend, Uche Okechukwu.
Brilliant in anticipation, comfortable on the ball, fast in a race duel, powerful in physical duels, a real colossus, a garden wall CB.

Although exact stats figures for individual analyses are not available for this game but a keen watch and rewatch of the game shows me Nwaiwu likely made more passes into the final third or offensive half than any of our defenders and also won nearly all duels and bagged as much defensive contributions as LB, Igboke or even slightly more.

Nwaiwu needed this game to further build his SE 1st team experience after just coming in as a newbie in the last international window vs Iran. Played 33mins and showed decent promise despite an initial shaky start. Once he settled in, the glimpses of his quality began to register.

The Super Eagles CB depth is truly scary for others and beautiful for us. No caps.

Femi Azeez Beloso becomes the First Nigerian player to score a brace on his debut game in 55 yrs.

The last Nigerian national team player to score a debut brace was Mathias Obianika in November 1971 in Nigeria's 4-0 win vs Burkina Faso (Formerly Upper Volta).

Only 5 players in Nigerian football history has scored a debut brace. Femi Azeez is the 5th and 1st since 1971.

Femi Azeez is also the 62nd Nigerian senior National team debut scorer.

The last player to score on his debut for Nigeria was Akor Adams last year vs Lesotho in a WCQs on October 10, 2025 away in Polokwane, SA.

We literally executed this game vs Zimbabwe with the RB and LB of the Champions of the Naija League, Enugu Rangers.

Nice NPFL Scouting by Chelle.
They gave good account of themselves especially the LB

Thomas Tuchel has invited Rio Ngumoha and Ethan Nwaneri to join in the 2026 training camp. I think this move is strategic to assure them that they are still part of their plans even after the World cup. England are really intentional about Nigerian players

I like Okonkwo's confidence yesterday. By the way, was the pitch too short or is Okonkwo such a long ranger? undecided

Otele impressed me the times I watched him. To me, besides the goals, he was more imposing than Azeez was.

If Alhassan could maintain this standard, I would rather him than Onyedika. He also needs to move back to Europe.

Obere is combative and he looks so young. I like his game and I hope next season he will be a regular starter for Marseille.

Nwaiwu is the man. Ogbu is good too, and it is about time he came to France, Spain, Germany or Italy.

Azeez should be made to play in the same position he plays at his club side. He will be more effective that way.
