How are they naive? Nothing wrong in what they did. You are responsible to who you represent and the man may not even be Igbo as it is not only Igbos that bear Okoro. Even Yoruba bear it as well as some other groups. The op maybe wrong as the name Okoro isn't enough reason to say the man is an Igbo man.
What the Yoruba need to fight for is representation that shows their true percentage of total population or a representation by tax paid. You can choose whoever you trust to represent you at any level. In Ibadan, the traditional constitution allows anybody to become the King

Igbo land is near to Yoruba land and they have cities. It is a given that successful Yoruba live there as they live in London, New York, Accra and etc. Many things can take a Yoruba to the SE from marriage to NYSC to job opportunities, artisanship and hundreds of other reasons. So how will some of them not be successful? I can list up to three I know that are dollar millionaires despite that I don't live in the SE but I will not mention anyone's name. If there are clearly three dollar millionaires that I have heard of, how much more those who are silent? If there are 500 dollar millionaires in the East or even one thousand and there are three Yorubas among them, is that not enough answer to your question?

But that name okoro is not entirely an igbo name
I have seen alot of people in my state Edo, delta, and ondo with that name.

So you think that fight is more important than the fight to give the SW 45 senators that they merit if the SE has 15? The constitution allows Igbo to contest anywhere and the Yoruba to contest anywhere but members of either group can not win anywhere unless locals and others vote for them. They can't win with votes from their people alone since there is no land allocated to Igbo in Yoruba land or to Yoruba in Igbo land where they call the shot and dominate. Igbo votes alone can not win anything for Igbo anywhere in the SW so it isn't something to get worked up over. The right fight is the one for the correct representation
