A state with an illiterate for a governor can't be expected to get anything right.

I know what caused it. It's Peter Obi. According to APC, Peter Obi is to blame for everything bad in this country

Despicable and shameful indeed. A very bad image of a state called Edo State, an act of indiscipline to treat Children as adult. There is no words adequate to explicate the high level of indiscipline and incompetency that is infesting the society at large. May God save Nigeria and save Edo State.

Mods need to edit these epistles or just don't post them. Can anyone say what happened? Just one sentence in this epistle says it may have been security guards who used pepper spray or tear gas ......maybe for crowd control. Investive journalism at its best....I'm almost sure the writer thinks he should be up for a journalist of the he year prize .

who even recruit these dumb people into our security outfits sef? their level of reasoning is just somehow, anyway I learnt the best brains in the agencies are sent to aso rock to guard our leaders while we are left at the mercy of the ones who see a lady's intimacy gadget and call it a weapon which should be seized.

Peter Obi haters here like Yerimo,Helinus,Madriguy, etc will avoid this news but let it be news that doesn't relate to Peter Obi they will still find away to infuse Peter Obi name in it.
I keep saying it that this country is long overdue for break-up whether those parasites that doesn't want it to break-up likes it or not it MUST
Re: Edo Children’s Day Celebration: Students Land In Hospital by Ebydeb: 1:03pm On May 28
What is this country turning into? tear gas on children? And what kind of statement is this coming from the government house? The security agent that released the tear gas should be arrested.

What do you all expect. The west gave us planes to bomb terrorists but instead we use those planes to bomb victims of terrorists and we call it a mistake. If that kind of mistake can happen repeatedly, this kind shouldn't be a surprise

Nigerians and emotional sentiment, bro please stop this....Nigerians are not co ordinated . We need force to get sense.

We need iron hands to do the right thing, so far tear gas is the solution at the moment, use it, Mr governor, you owe no one explanation.

The last time student started misbehave during protest of Palestine in US, shey government no use force .

Abeg ...we can't eat our cakes and have it
Tear gassing innocent kid is the best way to get them in order according to your logic? If we have people that reason like you in this country in large proportion, I swear we are in trouble.

Useless Reporting:
Why not tell us what led to the action.
If thugs came in and trouble broke out, do you expect the authorities to look the other way?

Simply Reported the part of teargas (effect) without stating the cause shows the reporter is way off Professionalism.

This is the overview of our society now.
The reality of how our society has fallen.
The issues are many both only leadership deficiency is being shouted to the fooftop.
What about bad parenting? What about negative environment that affects learning in children among many other issues.

Nigeria is bad today, we all are to be blamed although the leadership takes more of the blame.

If we all deal with our greed and selfishness, Nigeria will be a better place.

Please , I will not dignify any clanging cymbals with response

The same government that could not offer me a job as a safety officer even with my degree, certification in HSE 1, 2 and 3, and Certification in child safety and protection from CIE.

This is something good project managers and safety officers could have averted.

Quick recovery to the innocent children. I have left the state for them to work in the east. I will return when the present occupants of Osadebe House vacate it.

This writer is a sponsored mischief maker. He never took us through what happened at the event but just apportioning blame on the government.

He failed to tell us the events that led to the crisis. He was just blaming government he was paid to blame.

Was the Gov or his deputy at the event? If he was there, what did he do? Did he order the tear gas of the students? What did the Gov or deputy Gov do after the tear gas?

We're outside Edo and these are what the writer supposed to tell us.

You're a mischievous person and not a journalist.

In the first place, should children's day hold anywhere in Nigeria at this time? We still have innocent babies in the den of terrorists, yet some people still go ahead to celebrate children's day when we are all supposed to be on the street protesting and shut down the whole country.

FBIBOT:
Our security operatives are just dumb and incompetent..... Under normal circumstances teargas should never be fired in such a place and why allow it to reach that level before forcing crowd control..... We sit and relax for problems to arise before we start solution finding..... That was how mr oriyomi hamzat was blamed for the stampede in ibadan even while he has been notifying security operatives about the crowd.... They claimed they were not aware until it got out of hand.......
Our security forces are also poorly funded.

Our budget for the NPF is less than 1 billion dollars, which is about one tenth of what America's largest city spends on its city police force.

Why am I talking about money? Because you need money to buy equipment and so forth that won't require the need for teargas.

Plus, why are you blaming the police? The state government did not prepare adequately for the crowd...neither did they provide proper crowd control measures. The police were responding to an already chaotic situation created by the organizers.

APC government is responsible for thie mess ultimately

Tear gas on school children na normal Nigerian something.

First time this happened to me, I was in SS1. The smell of burnt rubber clogged my throat while my eyes watered uncontrollably. It wasn’t a funny experience. The thing triggered asthma in the vulnerable. We learned later that the usual Nigerian fuel scarcity made people belligerent in a nearby fuel station and the police discharged the substance, not caring that a secondary school was next door.

I changed school. My second experience was in SS3.

This time, the sensation was familiar. Likely due to knowing what it was, it didn’t burn like the first time and I covered my face with a cloth to lessen the effect. I had peers who had never experienced it before and succumbed to asthma attacks. What happened this time? A police convoy was stuck in traffic and decided to clear the road for themselves.

Two different schools. Two different states. The same experience. The same culprits. Naija no fit better. Parents say things were better in the past from false nostalgia.
