Soup, rice, beans and even sometimes, he prepares it eat it alone without combining with anything.

I am a lover of periwinkle but it seems I met someone who love periwinkle more than me.

Who else love periwinkle and how often do you cook with it?

Never really warmed up to the thing even when it’s in soups! I grew up with Onitsha/Asaba culinary styles and this one is more of a riverine/Niger-Delta thing?

And Bayelsa. Periwinkle is everywhere in that area. They even mix the shells with cement to fix some of their local roads in that area.

As a Yoruba Family, we never knew the existence of this lovely stuff.

I was privileged to experience its lovely taste one day while still a teenager, I went to eat in our neighbours house, I dont know their tribe but since many people generalised people from the south as Ibo, so I will assume too. grin

It was very lovely, still cant forget the taste till now. It is over forty or so years ago.

I think I have ate once or twice after that but can't recall those. cool

Exactly! You’re mixing the pot of soup and it almost sounds like you’re mixing stones! Never cared much for the added work while eating of having to pick up each individual periwinkle and suck it out from its shell!

I have never tasted this before.

I have also not eaten snail or crab before or those big shrimps.

My father and younger sister can eat everything but never me.

I wish he was here still. I would gladly have eaten anything with him now cry
