This IG don get ground now, e don resume to factory settings. He knows exactly why we are recording them but you see how he is carefully playing down the purpose of recording as for mere contents. Trust police or like my comment? |

Mr IGP please do not destroy the gains you have made. This comment can make waters murky for the average citizen who simply wants to protect himself from rogue police men who are out to extort him. As long as a policeman is in public doing his duties, he can be recorded. He serves the public. Even in police stations (that are public offices) , phones are seized at the gates. I still do not know why. There is no expectation of privacy in public. The law has made it clear. Nobody goes to a policeman's private residence or barrack to record him. If the police is doing his duty, even content creators can make him rich. I have dashed money to traffic policemen doing their duties diligently, because someone recorded them and uploaded same on the internet for 'content creation'. Should that be considered a crime? This your comment might be enforced badly and you will find some rogue policemen taking advantage of it to confiscate phones and cameras of people who simply want to protect themselves from extortion. We must be careful as leaders not to make comments that could be misinterpreted however some people want it, as long as it benefits them, whether it obfuscates the intended goals or not.. You are one of the brightest IGP of police, from what I have heard. Please do not throw all your achievements away, by giving rogue policemen the opportunity to confiscate phones by FALSELY claiming the owner recorded for content creation. And afterwards go ahead to extort their hapless and helpless victims, after destroying evidence. |

Who records Nigeria police on duty for content or he's just looking for how to blame their atrocities on recording them for content. Everyone working with tinubu the incompetent is as clueless as he is. |

The IG appears to believe Nigerians will approach this policy with restraint and responsibility. The moment he publicly stated that citizens were free to record police officers on duty, I knew that abuse of the privilege was only a matter of time. I would not be surprised if the policy is reversed soon. The fact that the IG had to make such a clarification suggests that recordings are already being repurposed for content creation. And, trust elements of lawlessness, this is just the beginning. There is also a small but vocal segment of frustrated ragtags determined to test every limit of law and order, treating every freedom as an opportunity for mischief rather than responsibility. A quick glance at some of the reactions online, even on this thread will attest to this fact. |

I recorded a callous police men on my dash cam this week. When I got home I played the video band I just felt pity for one of the men, hunger wn finish am. But at same time I didn't feel any remorse because, if it's left for the man, he would have killed or destroyed something and get away with it. I will record you for my safety, but poverty won't let these officers have dignity and reject those content creators. Just give them 5k and a crate of 33, you will record an entire season on their mockery. |

If the incident in Warri where a young man was publicly executed was not filmed. It will have been swept under the carpet. And those police officers were on duty. They responded to a "distress call" |

They'll now blame everything on recording them for content. |
| Re: IGP Disu Warns Against Recording Police On Duty For Content Creation (Video) by Cutezt(m): 1:38pm On May 31 |
Idiot!! Who will just carry a camera and put on police officers face to create content? Are the officers comedians or dancers? The sole reason why any sane individual will record is because of their own safety and as evidence, nobody records an officer for content except they have an agreement with the officer to do so, and in that case, you hold your officer responsible, not the content creator. Personally, I don't even record to my phone, I just go live on Facebook straight, just in case anything happens, then after the whole ordeal, I will either delete or put the video on private. |

If not because you are a bitter person dying of animosity why will you record police officers for content creation. Why will you do so to make mockery and caricature of their personalities! If people think it is easy of being a police officer let them join or encourage their children to partake in it after all everybody is a Nigerian citizen and part of citizen participation entails security participation by everybody that is why conscription is one of the only mandatory laws of the country! |
| Re: IGP Disu Warns Against Recording Police On Duty For Content Creation (Video) by brightzstart: 1:40pm On May 31 |
So how will you differentiate between the ones recording for content and the ones genuinely recording for their safety? You're giving these police officers now a reason to be more brutal. ![]() |

Whether as content or not, as long as they (officers) are on duty, Nigerians should reserve the right to record officers. Why would a public servant not want to be recorded while on duty? What is he/she hiding? |

Police officers who go against the ethics of their profession are recorded everywhere in the world. Nigeria cannot be an exception. This man doesn't know what he is saying. |

You can only record when the police stops you for search or interrogation, you can't just record police for no reason. The police is there doing a legitimate duty, for public safety, they are not your personal worker or property. |

OgbeniOja1:A lot of Nigerians record police when the police is not engaging them or doing anything illegal, this is wrong. |

Nigeria. Where every good thing comes to die. When Oyibo people started recording law enforcement officers, it was to make them accountable and for the world to see their excesses. E reach Nigeria, dem start to record when police dey chop food, dey enter Keke, just for the sake of clout and followers engagement. One yeye girl was even trying to seduce a soldier while recording it. If to say the soldier issue her five naira now, the world would’ve been agog. Now, e don burst and we’re crying a river. |

Why did he jump over recording for evidence? This reminds me of Israel outlawing the recording of IDF activities or war related damages in Gaza. The IGP is doing same... for the same reason .... to prevent exposure of illegal activities by his men. We should now know what to expect ... more oppression by the Police ... and what not to expect...... justice |

Many of these content creators will deliberately instigate the police while the police is doing his job diligently and once they have successfully made the police angry will now bring out their phone to start recording. Content creators need those videos to grow their page. So they deliberately go out of their ways to provoke the police Why didn't the contents creators start the recordings before deliberately annoying and provoking the police |
