Are we going to finally address the elephant on the room? why does Osimhen get away with picking grade A friendly games to play? there's always a litany of excuses that crop up for this guy to justify his endless streak of absenteeism from international friendly duties...even better players and legends like Messi, CR7, Drogba etc never had this sort of record.

No wahala sha, I blame the unfortunate Nigerian situation for building an arc of hopeless dependency on Osimhen.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 2:59pm On May 31
I like him and regard him as one of our best ever players but skipping games when it suits you almost all the time is a no no for me.

I'm all for understanding a players situation when circumstances demand it but such players should also play their part.

The NFF too that should be ensuring standards are met when it comes to how players handle invitations sef owe player bonuses so with what authority will they even speak?

In a way I think this should even be a blessing in disguise to build a team that is not overly dependent on Osimhen. So in future if Victor decides to throw one of his tantrums the team won't be blackmailed to overlook any BS.

Don't know why all our best players over the years always get one trait of unprofessionalism or the other.

If his British passport allows him to make the trip, that's fine. It cost us nothing to have him in and gain some experience for himself. What he makes of that experience is up to him. England will have nwaneri as well as Rio join their team to train. Let's have someone whose heart is with us as well train with the first team. I hope whatever he learns from that experience can help define his career and build his confidence in future.
ChrisKels:
So, a so called Owen Oseni that could not even get up to 10minutes of action in the unity cup is listed as one of the players to prosecute our matches against Portugal and Poland?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by fabyom: 3:27pm On May 31
I believe Chelle is actively looking for Osimhen's replacement.
You could feel it in his invitations.
The reason he is speaking to George Ilenikhena, and listed Owen for those two friendlies.

Lookman definitely deserves his rest! He has been available all through the season despite the transfer issues.

This is an even bigger indictment on him if true. So he is not in the process of changing club but he just decided to pick the match to play. Not looking good at all

Osimhen is injury prone
Let him concentrate on getting a new club
You can’t please humans
From why does he come to camp late to why’s he selecting games
Why should we rely solely on one player, let others have their shine
Surprised Chrisantus Uche isn’t even called, someone struggling to find his feet
Someone who needs game time, must Osimhen play every time
That boy gets injured unnecessarily when playing for Nigeria and you guys will still complain
Nawa o

Hakimi - 3 UCLs already.

Kvara that won the Serie A with Osimhen in 2023 has 2 UCLs already.

Even Lookman has a Major European Title and a record to go with it.

Hmmm... Osimhen @27 still has time to write much bigger chapters that will stand tall in the annals of football history when he finally hangs his boots. And as much as I support him anywhere he goes, I will be frank... He will not write those bigger chapters in Turkey with Gala unless they become some sort of PSG-like European Super Team.

Osimhen.... You have achieved so much but the story is not done. Not even close. There is still much out there yet to accomplish.

The comments on this post are not funny
See people roasting Osimhen and Lookman like bole

It's well
People are disappointed
It’s understandable the disappointment from fans I too am not happy cos these are grade A friendly games and you need all your best players available, even the opposing teams will be hugely disappointed as the purpose of these games is also to test their squad against the very best. We blame the nff for not organising top friendly games but what then is the purpose of these games if our supposed talisman is not available, I no gree for this one at all o. Next time I will never blame the nff again if we don’t get such opportunities.

Again this is how mismanaged our prior successes after another good Afcon outing just like 2024. We need to be getting better and all our players must be in alignment

Let’s see if we can actually play competitive games without Osimhen & Lookman
I can’t believe people are complaining of his absence
Someone that plays like he’s going to keeel himself when he plays for Nigeria
Is he the only player we have in the country
Let us give other players a chance too
All these people talking Trish have never made any sacrifice for Nigeria o
All they do is destructive criticism
In my opinion, they should reserve these guys for serious tasks like the qualifiers or AFCON
Im not saying anyone can just walk straight into the team though but we should have competent options readily available
These friendlies will really be a true depiction of our football level globally
Do we have solid Iwobi & Ndidi replacements ready too for the future ?
Competition will make the team better
Games against Poland and Portugal are not just for trial and error, it’s an opportunity to see our own best players against some of the best players in the world currently. This is a missed opportunity mhen, no excuse

And anyone mad about Osimhen's absence has a right to be mad. This is Poland and Portugal in a WC Year we did not qualify for, not Eswatini and Barbados.

It is well.

Akin was sick. Awesome. I knew he would not miss this chance without sound reasons. He is one lad among our midfield options I really hope gets his chance to show his quality in the Chelle System.

His time will come again.

EElopa:
I just finished watching the Eric Chelle interview, and he confirmed that Akinsamiro was sick, so he could not make it. Ebenezer Akinsamiro has all the tools to be a world-class midfielder, and this is why his absence in this Unity Cup got me pissed off all week. If you love Naija football, you should root for and demand more from this boy because he is the closest thing we have got in that midfield department to John Mikel Obi. His development and maturity will be the key to the transformation of the Nigerian midfield. He is a ball carrier, tempo dictator, technical and has unlimited passing range.

That explanation from that journalist means nothing,
If Real Madrid needs Osimhen, they will bid for him, they won't wait for Osimhen to push for a move first.
Even if Osimhen is seeking for a move,it won't be ok to let it be a public knowledge first before it becomes concrete.
Galatasaray might even say that Osimhen is not for sale, meanwhile secretly discussing a deal, or weighing up a favorable deal for the club,it's all business.

Exactly, Portugal will roll out their heavyweights and they are easily a top 3 best national team in the world...a window like this would have been Chells's biggest game of his managerial career and a chance to test his best players against the very best in the world...but alas, his best players let him down. AIK has officially announced they have began Negotiations for the sale of Zadok Yohanna but no club was mentioned....

They did say it is going to exceed their highest class (Class VIII - 8 ) profit margins for any transfer sale.

Osimhen has played ONLY 6 friendly games for Nigeria in a span of 9 years, let that sink in. Surely he wasn't all "injury prone" in all those friendly games he missed over 9 years but no wahala. This is a learning curve for Nigeria anyway.

Zadok Yohanna could become the Most Expensive Allsvenskan Transfer in History if the 22-23Million Euros figure stands true

Lucas bergvall's transfer from Djurgarden to Tottenham in the summer of 2024 was 20million euros. That is the most expensive currently pending when Zadok's transfer negotiations is done and dusted by AIK to the undisclosed club (likely Brighton or...)

Isak's back then to Dortmund in January 2017 was 9million euros. AIK's biggest sale so far until Zadok in 2026.
