I seriously view some comments as mere stupidity. Trump is doing what's in the best interest of his country and it has become our national burden; what is our government doing for its citizens with our resources? There are illegal mining operations that are unchecked, raw materials export, and a whole lot that undermines our common good. Take a look at the presence of Western companies, NGOs, and the like, and still Africa is not developed, yet you are unbothered about it. But Trump is your problem. It might even be easier for a foreign company to obtain a license than a Nigerian company, and you think they are our problem? We must become Pan_africanist before the motherland can develop into the dreamland we all desire. |

Emeskhalifa:They can't now .... because they don't have a country of origin. But we can see how they are deporting immigrants to other countries.... non White immigrants . This may be Stage 1. They are also not trying to hide their racism. The latest display of racism?

Skullminers1:WILL YOU SHUT UP AND USE YOUR BRAIN. TRUMP PRESIDES OVER A VIOLENT AMERICA WHERE 45,000 PEOPLE ARE SHOT DEAD EVERY YEAR BY THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS. TRUMP HAS DONE NOTHING TO END THE VIOLENCE OR REDUCE ACCESS TO GUNS BECAUSE HIS PARTY ARE BRIBED BY THE GUN MANUFACTURERS LOBBY TO KEEP WEAPONS FREELY AVAILABLE. SO HE IS NOT KEEPING AMERICA SAFE. HE'S CONTRIBUTING TO ITS DESTRUCTION. THIS IS THE SAME CRIMINAL AND CHILD RAPIST THAT SAYS HE CARES ABOUT YOU IN NIGERIA, AND YOU BELIEVE HIM. |

Yemmysworld91:Taqiyya kpai you there, you ar quick to involve palestine, are Palestinian more related to you than your fellow Nigerians. Islamists are on rampage killing and displacing Nigerians, especially Christians but you didn't deem it fit to talk about it. Over 50 women and kids were kidnapped in Ngoshe in Gwoza LGA of Borno state and now over 40 people also kidnapped in OYO state all Christians by same Islamists Jihadists. America is not suppose to solve your challenges, why do you have a government. They only interven because of the Jihadists agenda. If terrorism wasn't done by Muslims, there won't be even neee for America to interven. |

The 20 Designated Consular HubsWhile the State Department has not yet updated its public websites, the 20 approved "hubs" that will retain full immigrant and non-immigrant visa processing services have been identified: West Afbidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), Accra (Ghana), Dakar (Senegal), Lagos (Nigeria), Lomé (Togo), Monrovia (Liberia), Praia (Cape Verde) East Africa: Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Djibouti (Djibouti), Kampala (Uganda), Nairobi (Kenya), Kigali (Rwanda) Central & Southern Africa: Cape Town (South Africa), Johannesburg (South Africa), Kinshasa (DRC), Luanda (Angola), Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), Port Louis (Mauritius), Yaoundé (Cameroon) Impact on Non-Hub CountriesConsular sections located in the remaining 30+ African nations will cease regular visa processing for the general public. However, they will remain open for limited functions, including:Assisting American citizens (e.g., passport renewals and emergencies) Processing diplomatic visasHandling special national interest cases Consequences for Applicants Applicants living in a country without a designated hub face severe financial and logistical hurdles. They must travel across international borders to a hub country simply to attend a mandatory visa interview, drastically increasing travel expenses, wait times, and administrative burdens.A Stricter FrameworkThis restructuring follows a series of aggressive immigration policies enacted earlier in 2026:Immigrant Visa Suspensions: In January 2026, the U.S. enacted Presidential Proclamation 10998, pausing immigrant visa processing for roughly 26 African nations under a "public charge" reassessment.Visa Bonds: Selected non-immigrant applicants (including nationals from Nigeria and several other African states) must post high-cost, refundable bonds of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 to mitigate overstay risks.Strict Interview Rules: Non-immigrant applicants are now required to interview strictly within their country of nationality or legal residence, ending previous policies that allowed flexible, third-country scheduling. Are you planning a trip to the U.S. from a specific African country, or do you need details on how these changes affect a specific visa type (such as student or tourism)?AI can make mistakes, so double-check responses 9 sitesU.S. plans major reduction in consular services across Africa2 June 2026 — U.S. plans major reduction in consular services across Africa * A consular network narrowed to 20 hubs. What This Means for Abuja Applicants Mandatory Travel to Lagos: If you live in Abuja or northern Nigeria, you can no longer complete your routine visa processing locally. You must travel to the U.S. Consulate in Lagos for your mandatory, in-person document reviews and visa interviews.Longer Wait Times: With Abuja's massive applicant volume redirected entirely to Lagos, appointment slots are expected to face unprecedented backlogs and surging wait times.Restricted Interview Rules Still Apply: You cannot bypass Lagos by booking an interview in another country; the strict "no visa shopping" rule requires you to interview within your country of nationality or residence. |

this report is accurate, the concern shouldn’t just be about convenience but about what it signals. Countries that maintain strong diplomatic, economic, educational, and security relationships with the United States are more likely to retain robust consular operations. African governments should see this as another reminder of the importance of strengthening institutions, improving security, and building economies that create opportunities at home rather than relying heavily on migration as an escape route. At the same time, visa access should not become unnecessarily difficult for genuine students, tourists, business people, and professionals. Hopefully, any restructuring will focus on efficiency rather than simply creating additional barriers and costs for ordinary applicants. |
