Hmm,my man he turned to Okoye now,na players we go blame abi,na so some tried to blame Aina for that Tunisia goal against Okoye...Okoye should thank his star that no be competitive or knock out match, all this turechi no go work, yes a screamer can beat any keeper and any keeper can save it....fact,Nigeria vs Morocco if na Okoye we would have lost that match in 90 mins
Even if we are playing world cup final, I will never blame Okoye for that goal. We've been watching this game for long na

Let's be fair to the members of this thread. I do not agree that absolving Maduka of blame for that goal is hypocritical. I've been one of his staunchest critic but reality is that that goal will beat any keeper any day. If Uzoho had let in that goal, I think the sentiment of this thread will remain the same as is currently being expressed towards Okoye.

And in relation to Nwabali - he was criticized, not for his goalkeeping but for his unnecessary antics.
Haba delaw, but for Chelle defending Nwabali many wanted him to be dropped make we no change am o.

If Nwabali can be called out I don’t see why okoye too can’t be called out, the excuses here are flimsy even blaming other players for him. Some folks here too also supported okoye boycotting the Afcon and were giving reasons to justify it. Osihmen boycotted this friendly and am one of those seriously frowning at it despite being a huge fan it cos it is a wasted opportunity. I know it’s hard to be consistent but let’s be fair at all times. If the game had ended 2-1 I bet you it’s Nwabali that will be roasted now. I love to defend my preferred players too but boundaries Dey and should be respected. Okoye should improve and I will continue to say it am not even blaming him cos I respected him showing up for the nation as should be. Let’s divert all this name calling to the players who didn’t show up for this game; osihmen, Lookman and others

Yes he ticks a few more boxes but it is majorly because they are not the same profile.
If I go further to include Benjamin Frederick, the boxes to tick multiplies a bit more.

ChrisKels:
But this your description already supports my claim because from the description, Nwaiwu ticks more boxes than Fernandez. I like aggressive CBs that can also initiate attacks.

Defenders bear secondary blame because they ought to holla on the other players to shield that defender. Mind you it was a polish defender who scored that goal.
Then everyone is to be blamed then
1. “Okoye, he could have saved it, but not saving it is not his fault”(meaning there is something he could have done to save it)
2. “Defenders bear secondary blame because they ought to holla on the other players to shield that defender” (Meaning they ought to have spoken to alert players in front)

baba this was not a corner kick oo where players are close to themselves to hear each other….check where Bassey,Ajayi and Sanusi were all standing, how dey wan take holla at Onuachu with that distance from him…
Bassey(🗣): Onuachu mark him out mark him out!…baba them far from each other abeg…i can’t blame defenders here by this analysis

3. “Online reviews of Okoye's performance has largely been positive”.
be like youve not seen comment section of different facebook bloggers and X.
Its been some bloggers that are even coming to defend Okoye

I still dey watch this Fernandez sha. In my eyes, Nwaiwu is better than both Fernandez and Ogbu
Fernandez only played the first 45mins and he put no single foot wrong. He was decent defending and as always excellent with the ball on his feet. Whenever he was with the ball, he feels zero pressure.
Na Ogbu me they used corner eyes look and to me Nwaiwu seems better than Ogbu

but hope you know both die hard fans of Okoye and fair viewers of super eagles will pick Okoye over Uzoho anyday anytime….

Here we blame Okoye for the goal and not asking him to be sent away instead we wish he learn further on how to save such goals, but on Uzoho 🤣🤣everyone will immediately be calling for the coach to send him away from the team
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 12:36pm On Jun 04
Nwabali has come clutch for us on many occasions so it's no surprise that we regard him as our number one despite his occasional errors.

Okoye is a good goalkeeper many African countries including close rivals will love to have.

Yes it's ok to criticize especially when it's warranted but let's encourage the young man too.

ThunderFireAgba:
I respect Nwabali after DRC game. The guy was press resistant. Urging players on with the multitude of Congolese fans shouting down on him in that arena?
Una think it's easy? The guy has proved himself time without number! If not because of Moses Simon silly penalty miss..

Against Morocco, time and again!!
If not because of that Chukwueze miss.

Again for another 120mins with Egypt?

He knows his worth that's why he left SA PSL.

Akatugba sometimes. This is who he was insulting people over?

Oma and his lack of self awareness on occasion.

What he's criticizing other people over didn't he also do the same with Okoye? Recommending an unknown player with no experience to the national team setup?

It's the way he tries to deflect his hypocrisy by saying it turned out alright. So it makes what he did right?

Massive player!!
What a debut!!??
Dude didn't look out of place at all
He wan even kill Zalewski for that wing
Dude put in 3 okay crosses
Defended his area well
I noticed Onyeka wasn't finding his runs
I believe that would be worked on in training..

At this rate, I no fear Portugal again
Bewene is fearless
Him go chop Rafael Leao, even Neto for dinner..
Reminds me of a young Chidi Ordiah
I even see the step overs sef!

Bring on Portugal!!

And we are winning the next 2 AFCONs!!!
Let's go!!!

No. I meant attendees at the stadium. I doubt if we could pull that spectators considering the fact both teams are not world cup bound.

Okoye just has bad luck. Look at that sterling performance yesterday which would have been capped with our victory only for that devil of a defender to whip that thunderbolt and ruin the young's man glory trip.

He should keep going. His day will come.

Another thing im enjoying now is how names like “Abdulahi Bewene(Jos),Alhassan Yusuf(Kano state),Zaidu Sanusi (Kebbi state) are doing greatly and putting up stellar performances in the super eagles and gradually erasing the mentality of people tagging it to “Quota system”…common let’s go Northerners you guys can also birth super stars for super eagles…
There is also another sensational wizard in the waiting “Zadok Yohanna”(Bauchi State)

I be correct Igbo man, i love this perceived unity soccer is giving us

until Okoye give people reason to heal…people will still be suffering from his Tunisia afcon exit outside shot PTSD🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was literally counting down to final whistle while watching that game yesterday 🤣..4mins:49seconds(11seconds) left to play.

Voooooooooooooooooooom🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 net don tear…angry enough the shot came from Oshodi and landed in Lekki🤣🤣🤣 omo its very very annoying…the only person to be picked up for bashing and blame in that moment will be the goalkeeper 🤣🤣
I had watched that clips twice today again, I tell you not even nuer or cortoise can keep out that shot, for a minute I thought the ball was going in a straight line, ahbi na breeze blow am go another direction??,

By then Okoye was already in motion, if it had gone as projected it's an easy catch or a tipping over, buh that swerving ehn hmmm

Someone that plays like a European defender. Most SE fans believes in jam body way of defending, that's why they don't see his qualities. Give the SE a good crosser like Azeez or Lookman and watch Fernandez showcases his aerial prowess. Nor be those nonsense make Simon Moses they cross
