Nigeria is a absolute disgrace, a embarassment, and a disappointment to sub-sahara Africa given the way it's managed its affairs since the colonial gov't left in 1960! What you claim to be 'independence' was nothing but the Brits handing over the baton of oppression, subjugation and illegal appropriation of national wealth to the greedy, tribalistic, ill-bred, ill-read and unprepared Nigerian elite of the time (political, chieftaincy and subsequently military) who moved into the palatial mansions just vacated by the Brits in the leafy and serene GRAs of Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Enugu, and Kaduna! The Nigerian elite mainly continued from where their former colonial masters left off! Of course there were exceptions to the norm as a few bright sparks existed amongst this elite, but their good efforts were eventually undone by the internal structural contradictions and faulty foundation the post 'independent' Nigeria was built on! We also had well-intentioned and capable elite who started off well, but were eventually corrupted by the post 'independent' political, economic and ethno-religious dynamics of the time which turned them away from the positive values that initaially moulded their world-view and career in politics and gov't! For you to infer that, but for a 'independent' Nigeria, its component parts couldn't have gone it alone and become successful and progressive societies in their own right says a lot about what drives you as a person!

Any honest assessment of how Nigeria has performed since 'independence' will come up with the conclusion that that country has perfomed woefully and actually retrogressed given the monumental resources (human and material) it had at its disposal, as well as given how well we have done in comparison with similar or less endowed countries of the time like Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, South-Korea, Japan, Saudi-Arabia, etc!

What you claim to be 'independence' was nothing but the Brits handing over the baton of oppression, subjugation and illegal appropriation of national wealth to the greedy, tribalistic, ill-bred, ill-read and unprepared Nigerian elite of the time (political, chieftaincy and subsequently military) who moved into the palatial mansions just vacated by the Brits in the leafy and serene GRAs of Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Enugu, and Kaduna! The Nigerian elite mainly continued from where their former colonial masters left off! Of course there were exceptions to the norm as a few bright sparks existed amongst this elite, but their good efforts were eventually undone by the internal structural contradictions and faulty foundation the post 'independent' Nigeria was built on! We also had well-intentioned and capable elite who started off well, but were eventually corrupted by the post 'independent' political, economic and ethno-religious dynamics of the time which turned them away from the positive values that initaially moulded their world-view and career in politics and gov't! For you to infer that, but for a 'independent' Nigeria, its component parts couldn't have gone it alone and become successful and progressive societies in their own right says a lot about what drives you as a person!

Any honest assessment of how Nigeria has performed since 'independence' will come up with the conclusion that that country has perfomed woefully and actually retrogressed given the monumental resources (human and material) it had at its disposal, as well as given how well we have done in comparison with similar or less endowed countries of the time like Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, South-Korea, Japan, Saudi-Arabia, etc!

The military never precipitated the insurgency. Islamic Jihadists in the north did with the aid of their Arab counterparts. You guys always miss the point...No one can turn anything around in this country as it is presently constituted. Even if Peter is presently the best candidate at this time, have you considered the fact that the system is naturally rigged against him or any other sincere politician? Are you aware that just less than 15 years ago, Ribadu, the current NSA declared Tinubu corrupt and hoped he'll end up in jail? The same Ribadu is now Tinubu's right-hand man in security matters.

Are you aware that Nigeria is one of the many African countries that has NEVER had charismatic and erudite people as presidents and governors because the system is rigged against such people who have what it takes to pull the country out of entropy? For instance, before independence, the best candidate for premier in the north was Aminu Kano. Ask yourself why he lost to Ahmadu Bello, the same way Peter Obi 'lost' to Tinubu? The British simply rigged him out because their vision for Nigeria and Africa is that the continent must NEVER make progress. Why? You can't have two captains in a ship. If Africa makes progress, the industrialized world like Europe and America and Asia will be in trouble. Where would they get the cheap raw materials running their economy? Who would they take raw materials from and sell finiished products to? That's why even Peter Obi's "from consumption to production" mantra is enough of a disaster that many Europeans and Americans won't ever support.

Let me tell you who you are as an African: you're dispensable and disposable but tolerated by the world because your use is economic. The same way your ancestors served in whiteman's plantation as slaves is the same way you're serving the whiteman's interest as countries they created. In reality, what you call political leaders in Africa are slave task masters - Africans are the slaves, the politicians are the task masters while the whiteman are still the owners of the estates called countries. That's why they're telling you in Nigeria that you're not paying enough tax even though they provide you nothing. A slave must produce for the task master. Britain, and now France must get more benefit. That's the essence of all those state visits.

Have you wondered why Africa is the most endowed continent, yet the poorest people in the world are in Africa? Have you asked yourself why and how the whiteman has been able to deceive you to the point that they steal all your natural resources - silver, gold, copper, timber, oil, diamond and more in exchange for paper?

Let me tell you what the World Bank and IMF will never want you to know - Africans don't think! They simply like being teleguided. Otherwise, the first questions you guys should be asking is why you another race should create countries for you and you're comfortable in it. You should ask yourself why Africans cannot do the same for say Europeans and Americans. Someone was even arguing about progress. The only time Africans made progress was before the whiteman came. Africa would have made more progress if they were left as homogenous nations the way you have it in Europe and Asia.

The summary is that African countries are not functional because the intent of creation is actually to make them non-functional and so end up serving the interest of outsiders instead of insiders.
