You people are very funny. How can a pharmacist regulate a doctor? What sort of dumb statement is that?

In the hospital Doctors diagnose and lead treatment plan but Pharmacist knows more about the drugs for treatment and their components.

They can correct prescription and guide the doctor on best drug to treat.

They also kill a lot too, turning themselves to doc over night prescribing medication for those that cannot afford hospital bills

Ok o, just recently my son was admitted in general hospital ikorodu and an antibiotic was requested from the pharmacy, it probably not suitable for his age, the pharmacist left her duty post with people waiting in line and follow me to see the doctor, they had a discussion and the doctor changed the drug , I could hear her pleading, don't tell the other consultant o!. We really understand appreciate there support. More reason government regulate them.

That is the right and the best thing to do. It could be that the doctor is an intern or it was an oversight. But in some instances which I have witnessed , the pharmacist was wrong. At the end, the best for the patient is what we desire

I know pharmacists do a lot but i have an advice for you guys: always run your advice by the doctor before changing his prescriptions. If a you don't understand a particular regimen,ask the doctor. Yes, you are good with pharmacology and drug-drug interactions but some regimens are there cos the doctor knows more about the pathology of the disease more than you.
For example, a doc prescribes normal saline for a hypertensive who has stroked. Don't go and do busy body and cancel the prescriptions. Learn from the doctor. Thank you

My sister is a pharmacist have witnessed countless times she avert disaster due to misdiagnosis or overdose. Nigerian system overwhelm medical staff too often reason once given prescription drugs I patronise where I will see a pharmacist on sit and experienced one is better.

Pharmacists also do mistakes too. You make it seem as if the mistakes is the domain of the doctor alone

This is how it is supposed to be in a sane country. Many doctors are overworked mainly because of brain drain or “Japa” syndrome. The few elderly doctors who work as consultants are rarely available to guide the student doctors who litter our public health centers, using Google search to diagnose and prescribe medication.

You said the doctor your brother went to prescribe drugs for him, then he went to a pharmacist and was told the drugs were overdose.

So i want to ask. After the doctor prescribed those drugs for him, the doctor will send your brother to the hospital pharmacy to get the drug.
So after going to the hospital pharmacy, why did he still go to another pharmacy outside!

Keep quiet there what do you know? A pharmacist cannot correct a prescription without consulting with the doctor for approval. How are you sure what you are correcting was a mistake?
Stop hating and do your pharmacist job with pride, stop trying to be a doctor wannabe.
If you want to be a doctor then go to medical school and stop trying to go through the back door. All this propaganda will still not make you a doctor.

Doctors are really trying and carry a heavy burden in diagnoses. Effective collaboration is what is actually missing in our hospital settings. All this will reduce if there is effective communication.

When the pharmacist detected it, all efforts to get to the doctor proved abortive. His phone is switched off and his whereabouts not know by the nurses, so it was documented in the folder that changes were made.

In this scenario, there may be some expected alterations but it depends on the scenario.
For example,if I prescribe normal saline for a hypertensive who had stroked and the pharmacist feels it may worsen the hypertension, the best thing is go with the ISQ meds and await the physician to return and explain. But if its a non emergency med,say PO PCM and its prescribed QDS,the pharmacist can dispense and later ask why QDS and not TDS
