Diakite featured like some sort of defensive winger vs France and he did a good job. It's interesting coz he is a Striker too.

zuchyblink:
Star-studded teams like France don't always live up to expectations. Everyone is too big to mark the ball. Ivory Coast fought them on the pitch. That Omar Diakite guy is a fighter.

I am very sorry for you.
Nwabali beats the De Gea in anticipation and aerial claims. That is the undiluted truth. Your contracted estimation of him will not change it.
Nwabali also beats Okoye in the same category, but my preference is with Okoye for other goalkeeping reasons.

I have known De Gea even before Nwabali.

Nwabali's club situation is not a true testament of his abilities.
Ok man, if you say so

All said and done, we are i think less than 20 years away from an African team wining the world cup.
Cameroon broke the psychological barrier in 1990
Morocco broke another psychological barrier in 2022.
So what is next
After semifinal it is final.
We just need an organized African team without the usual administrative problems and it is possible.
The fact that football is a team sport gives African teams a fighting chance.
As long as your players are at least above average. Like the 65% in quality then you can win.
You only need 2 to 5 world class players to win the world cup.
You dont need 11 players in Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Just 3 superstars and players in average teams in the top 5 leagues of Europe and players in Greece, Turkey,
Belgium, Portugal and even a good African league like South Africa.
With that, an African team can win the world cup.
Most African teams are like that anyway.
It will be an upset manner.
Like greece wining the euro in 2004 or denmark also winning the Euro.
I HOPE PRAY AND BELIEVE IT WILL BE NIGERIA.

I don't expect much from the CAF reps in this World Cup despite the 10 slots. Based on their groups quality and personal acumen, i only see 2 going to the KO stages

CIV and maybe Algeria

The group Senegal and Morocco are in will be dicey.
Morocco will beat Scotland abd qualify has second place team behind Brazil or even too Brazil self

Senegal may finished second or third in the group they will also qualify

Algeria may finished Second or third and qualifier has best losers if they can beat Austria

The. Likes of Ghana, Tunisia, Cape Verde, DR Congo group stage exist likely

That SA is very group tough ooo
Mexico host country(they will do everything to keep themselves in that tournament oo
Czech republic these guys play like Croatia and Portugal all those their “IC” ilic, zigic, fucic, vidic players are very sound soccer players oo
Then you see South Korea okokobioko!!!
go and watch their replay of
Russia 2018
Korea vs Germany

Qatar 2022
Korea vs Portugal
Those guys are flash…beating those top guys hands down
Korea and Japan are Asian menaces

SA is a team that ride on the poor form of giant nation to bully lesser teams to top a group…
They really benefited from our poor start and used the opportunity to extend lead against us by beating low teams like Rwanda,Lesotho and Zimbabwe….Dont be deceived by their qualification to the world cup, they are not a solid side to face technical teams….even at afcon they could only beat Zimbabwe and Angola in group stage when they met Egypt they lost, in round 16 they met Cameroon and were booted out

Senegal has to up their game, France will surely struggle against Norway…Senegal will have a mountain task to climb beating Norway

Algeria beating Austria is also slim oo😀😀, its only Nigeria and maybe Cameroon in history of world cup that can handle all this midtable decent european nations like
Czech
Poland
Serbia
Bosnia
Iceland
Norway
Greece
etc

Haba delaw, but for Chelle defending Nwabali many wanted him to be dropped make we no change am o.

If Nwabali can be called out I don’t see why okoye too can’t be called out, the excuses here are flimsy even blaming other players for him. Some folks here too also supported okoye boycotting the Afcon and were giving reasons to justify it. Osihmen boycotted this friendly and am one of those seriously frowning at it despite being a huge fan it cos it is a wasted opportunity. I know it’s hard to be consistent but let’s be fair at all times. If the game had ended 2-1 I bet you it’s Nwabali that will be roasted now. I love to defend my preferred players too but boundaries Dey and should be respected. Okoye should improve and I will continue to say it am not even blaming him cos I respected him showing up for the nation as should be. Let’s divert all this name calling to the players who didn’t show up for this game; osihmen, Lookman and others
My point is that Nwabali was not criticized for his goalkeeping abilities. Please proof me wrong. He was criticized for his antics, his time wasting charade and lackaidaisical attitude.

Then everyone is to be blamed then
1. “Okoye, he could have saved it, but not saving it is not his fault”(meaning there is something he could have done to save it)
2. “Defenders bear secondary blame because they ought to holla on the other players to shield that defender” (Meaning they ought to have spoken to alert players in front)

baba this was not a corner kick oo where players are close to themselves to hear each other….check where Bassey,Ajayi and Sanusi were all standing, how dey wan take holla at Onuachu with that distance from him…
Bassey(🗣): Onuachu mark him out mark him out!…baba them far from each other abeg…i can’t blame defenders here by this analysis

3. “Online reviews of Okoye's performance has largely been positive”.
be like youve not seen comment section of different facebook bloggers and X.
Its been some bloggers that are even coming to defend Okoye
I saw several threads on X with positive reviews. Pooja's for example.

seriously ooo…Nigeria is a country that has the ability to go toe to toe with elite teams…our system is really limiting us…just imagine Zadok yohana on the street hustling as at last year…now see teams jostling for that guy’s signature….

we are a big footballing nation..Thats why till date we have the highest win ratio in worldcup games(though the record may be broken by Morocco, cos they have one win to equal that record)
Imagine Morocco and Cameroon started attending world cup before us and yet we toppled them on that record.
If we were in that Morocco shoes of 2022WC walai na final we for end up…

That guy must be wicked in real life. I'm happy he scored that goal. Tiki taka has almost robbed players of the ability to play such long rangers.

Go watch the highlights of Netherlands v. Czech Euro 2004 and see shots being fired from afar.
Tiki taka changed the mentality of players

Thank you jare! I was coming to say the same thing.

Unless Hugo Brooks has something interesting up his sleeve, the bafana bafana I've been watching for the past 5-6 months may finish dead last in that group. For all the hype surrounding them since they made the WC last year, they've underperformed massively.

Genk boy Christian Akpan has joined the team in Lisbon for the Portugal friendly, it seems Chelle is serious about giving young new faces a chance in his rebuilding project.
If you invited and you don't perform, you are out. Even if you got 10 minutes, you must show yourself.

We are gradually seeing the metamorphosis of the SE taking place with fresh players being added to the mix.
But I'm not seeing them initiating these new players oo. That tradition must be kept alive

asin ehhn we really snoozed before chelle came oo…
imagine after match day 4 the group looked like this
Rwa 7pts
SA 7pts
Ben 7pts
Les 5pts
Nig 3pts
Zim 2pts
couple with SA playing large bulk of games at home, it was gonna be difficult to catch up with them.
With the hot chase we gave them it was not enough
SA 18 (+6 goals)
Nig 17 (+7goals)
Ben 17
Les 12
Rwa 11
Zim 5

so so unfortunate 🤦🏽‍♀️

Egypt have Belgium to fight

Tunisia have Netherland,Japan and Sweden to fight, omo they can’t survive abeg

Ghana have England and Croatia to fight(omo tough one)

SA has Mexico,Czech and S/Korea to battle with(omo tight corner for them)
My bad belle prayer is for all of them to come home after first round.

The story is told of three men who found themselves in hell. The devil told each of them to make one request and it will be granted. The first one promptly asked to be with his family.. The word was barely out of his mouth before he found himself cozying up in the warmth of his home.

The second one requested that he wants to be on a cruise ship in the pacific ocean. Fiam, he found himself on a cruise ship and began partying.

Well, it was now the turn of the third guy. Do you know what he asked for? He requested that the devil bring the two other guys who had left, back to hell.

His request was granted.

We Super Eagles fans are in the hell of disappointment now. My bad belle request is that all African teams must come back after first round. 😂😂
