mank1234:Firstly, you even misquoted my intent to make a point that doesn't land. I never said it was guaranteed, I said it MUST happen. That's a target, not a prophecy. Second, the fact that you can't tell the difference between an arrogant or boastful comment and one of aspiration is simply a stark indication of how unbelievably stew.peed some of you guys on this thread are, rushing to quote people's posts to give absolutely stew.peed takes that nobody asked for. And you even had the guts to talk about antagonism. Read your absolutely 🧠 dead comment that you initially sent to me and tell me if my response to you wasn't warranted. Rubbish! |

TheSuperNerd:The only time I'll never forgive Chelle for failing to beat this boring DRC team is from that playoff, the tactical mistakes he made down to the bad selection of his PK takers still lingered in my mind for a long time...we had this qualification on a platter after FIFA gave us some ojoro points to squeeze us in, and we still bleeped it up after all that hard work against Benin republic and Gabon. No wahala sha, many of us are already used to heartbreak as Nigerians. |

FiveFootNinja:Mank1234 I've been observing you two since FiveFootninja made this post. I see nothing wrong in what he said here. Looking at how our last 3 AFCONs ended, he is right to set a target. His statement here is more of aspiration rather than boastful. It's non negotiate. We must win the coming AFCON because we have what it takes. We're even stronger now squad-wise. So please.. Make both of you settle. Una two na big men here. Men of big titles. Men of timber and calibre. |

FiveFootNinja: Your brain is filled with idiotic football fantasy that on the left side nothing is right and on the right side nothing is left. Firstly, that declaration that you must win is disrespectful to teams that have outclassed you in recent times. Secondly, until a match is played, you cannot be so certain of the outcome. Go ask France in 2002. Go ask Spain in 2014. Go ask Germany in 2018. In 2022, I wanted us to meet Ghana in the playoff because player for player we were better, but the result was disappointing after my wish can true. Thirdly, you believe your team is numero uno. You're not among the 10 teams representing Africa yet you're still arrogant. Lastly, I won't dignify you with any further response. From your response, I know where you belong and I won't allow you to drag me to your level |

We had no business missing the World Cup. If someone had told me two years ago that Nigeria wouldn’t be at the 2026 World Cup, I would have laughed and said they knew nothing. With 10 African teams qualifying, it’s unbelievable that Nigeria wil not be among them. That’s absurd. Those mumu players kept dropping points and settling for draws against so-called minnows, and now we’re paying the price. 😢🇳🇬 it’s so painful mehn |

mank1234:Boring, worn out one-liner that you clearly borrowed from Google. Firstly, that declaration that you must win is disrespectful to teams that have outclassed you in recent times. This is a particularly stupid assertion. Saying "I must win" is a statement or declaration of intent that doesn't necessarily intend to undermine the capacity of whoever I'm challenging. It's me setting a standard for myself. An objective to accomplish. I'm not sure what warped sense of reasoning has contorted it into an insult in your mind. Maybe stop projecting your own insecurities and inadequacies on other people. Secondly, until a match is played, you cannot be so certain of the outcome. Go ask France in 2002. Go ask Spain in 2014. Go ask Germany in 2018. In 2022, I wanted us to meet Ghana in the playoff because player for player we were better, but the result was disappointing after my wish can true.Again, it wasn't a prediction. Everyone who has read that comment so far (except YOU) appears to have come to the same conclusion that it was NOT an outright prediction. Reading comprehension is clearly a challenge for you, but please don't suffer me with your challenges, especially if you're not going to be polite enough to ask me to break things down for you. Thirdly, you believe your team is numero uno. You're not among the 10 teams representing Africa yet you're still arrogant.Arrogance =/= aspiration or belief statement. I'm appalled that I have to point this out to an adult (I'm assuming here that you are) Lastly, I won't dignify you with any further response. From your response, I know where you belong and I won't allow you to drag me to your levelWorks for me. I derive no joy from reading whatever nonsense you have to say. It's no fun defending myself from people twisting what I'm saying to make puerile points they've pulled out of their backside. |

🗣️“I'm 27 now, in the next World Cup I'll be 31, and most of the squad will be in their 30's as well. And they will live with it for the rest of their lives. We have made two consecutive top 3 finish in the afcon in the last two editions. We clearly are good enough to be marked as clear favourites to win the competition and even if it's a brag he is not out of place. About the world cup miss its abnormal that we are not there but the countries there are not the absolute best the continent has to offer. The qualification format was not a league format that will produce the best 10, rather they are the just the best in their respective groups plus DRC. mank1234: |

Moffi, boniface, sadiq, onuachu and awoniyi. Our strikers in the first 4 matches before Osimhen's return and they could not score 1 goal amongst themselves to secure either a win in the first 3 draws or a draw in the benin match. Its really annoying now that they just realised they are getting old and wont play in the world cup. Yeye people. TheSuperNerd: |

mostob:But whatever anyone wishes, they should stop wishing to be paired with Ghana or South Africa no matter how strong our team may appears to look. They have proving to be capable of stopping us in the past. Those two countries have stopped us from going to world cup on two occasions, therefore,it would not be prudent to be wishing to play them so we can have our revenge, even though we can never be afraid of them. The same way I can never wish to be paired with Argentina in any world cup, even though I believe we are capable of defeating them on a good day. But if however we get paired with any of them,we can then boldly approach the encounter as boldly as we have always done, But it's just better to avoid them altogether. This na my own take. |

TheSuperNerd:Winning the next AFCON will be the best and most poetic type of parting gift these generation of players can use to pacify us, only few of them will likely stick around after the next two AFCONs to provide that experience and leadership for the next generation and retire after the next world cup. Those are the mainstays like Osimhen, Iwobi, Ndidi, Lookman, Aina and Nwabali. The next generation will be defined by the likes of Bassey, Arthur Okonkwo, Benjamin Fredrick, Nwaiwu, Fernandez, Bewene, Samuel Isife, Zadok, Femi Azeez, Nnadi, Tijani, Suleiman Sani, David Moses etc. Osimhen has to win an AFCON title and see at least one world cup in his playing career before he retires. |

Senegal cannot even score a goal? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by EElopa: 1:51am On Jun 10 |
I was not impressed with Senegal's play at AFCON except for their performance against Morocco in the finals. An average USA team completely outplayed them, and they should have lost that game by a margin of three to four goals. I am currently watching them against Saudi Arabia, and everything about their play seems like a sluggish, lazy, predictable type of football. They are very easy to be opened up by their bad organisation and slow defenders. I don't think this team is well coached. This Senegalese team I am watching will lose against France and Norway for sure, and that Haiti game will be a struggle. There is a lot of talent on the team, but they are not playing like a well-coached team. I am currently watching the game with my Norwegian friends. They feel very confident that they will turn this Senegalese team over when they meet. My hope for this World Cup among African teams is really pinned on Ivory Coast and Morocco. Algeria and Egypt might surprise, but the rest are going there to mark attendance. |

Some people will say it was just friendly and that they were playing not to get injured, but if you have been following Senegal for a while, you will understand that Senegal has been playing snooze-ball football for years now. After this World Cup, Senegal needs to get themselves a proper coach. It's a travesty for a team with this talent to be playing snoozeball football. That coach is terrible, and he is simply being carried by the talent at his disposal. |

Napoleon55:Nah I disagree. 1. If you want to be a champion, you must be prepared to face anybody. 2. South Africa didn't stop us. We hurt ourselves. Drawing Zimbabwe and the likes at home was criminal (with due respect to the opponent). We got another chance via playoff, we blew it. Nobody stopped us. We simply self-sabotaged our chances |

Arthur Okonkwo kept a clean sheet against Zimbabwe 2-0(Nwabali conceded against them in AFCON qualifiers). Against Jamaica 3-0(another clean sheet).Nwabali conceded 2 against them in the final of last 2 editions of Unity cup, with the match ending in 2-2 draw with the Super Eagles winning on penalties. Okoye conceded 2 against Poland and shouldn't start the game against Portugal. Arthur Okonkwo deserves a start.Okoye can replace him in the 2nd-Half. |
