For me the Number 1 non-top 5 contender at this WC. Carlo's Brazil.

Time will tell

Let me try to get into Chelle's mind for a bit. For me I think his likely starting XI vs Portugal today will be:

GK - Maduka Okoye

LB - Bruno Onyemaechi
RB - Abdullahi Bewene

LCB - Calvin Bassey
RCB - Semi Ajayi

MF - Wilfred Ndidi (C)
MF - Alex Iwobi
MF - Frank Onyeka

FW - Simon Moses
FW - Akor Adams
FW - Samuel Chukwueze

Formation: Kicking off with 442/4312 Diamond OR 433
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 4:50pm On Jun 10
Strong cases to start:
✅️Tochukwu Nnadi
✅️Emmanuel Fernandez

Likely debutant today:
✅️Christian Akpan

Likely to score vs Portugal today?
✅️I will guess Akor or Chukwueze to open the scoring for Nigeria. I know I will likely miss this. Lol

Clinton Jeptha played all 90mins as his side Inter Turku wins 2-1 vs SJK in the Finnish Cup Quarterfinals.

Yesterday, 20y/o attacker, Chinedu Umeh scored the only goal ⚾️ for Honka in their 7-1 loss vs HJK in the Finnish Cup Quarters.

22y/o CB, Emmanuel Okereke played all 90mins, helping to a cleansheet as his side VPS beat KuPs 5-4 on penalties after 0-0 regulation in the Finnish Cup Quarters.
Oluwaseyi Ogunniyi, RB (19) was benched for VPS.

Okay o,whatever una say.

Everybody know say they are not our mate on football,
But we were paired with them on first occasion, they got the ticket, we didn't. On the second occasion, they still got the ticket ahead of us,and una insist say they no stop us na we stop ourselves.
Don't you think if we were able to defeat them just once, that we would have qualified ahead of them inspit of all those draw games we had?

I don't mind meeting them on knockout stages, but once it's a group thing, they will play every politics to qualify ahead of us whether by hook or crook.
Bro if you replace SA and Ghana with Either Burkina Faso and Mali in our group and then go ahead to fumble against the minnows in our group…Teams like Mali,B/Faso,DRC etc will capitalize on our fumbling and qualify ahead of us…its not peculiar to only Ghana and SA…we dont need to win SA or Ghana in our group, just pound the minnows in that group home and away…then a draw home and away with Ghana/SA will qualify us to any tournaments

That will be interesting to see coz he has been quite brilliant in camp from reports I have heard/read.

New boy, Akpan at RB over Bewene that impressed on his debut will be something. Lad can also play LB but Bruno is present. The lineup will drop soon.

We tend to get good results against them sha. Historically.

Only exception was that 4-1 drubbing by Denmark in France '98. 😖
Sweden defeated us in 2002. Apart from Iceland which has no pedigree, which other Scandinavian country have we defeated?

World Cup starts tomorrow my predictions cool

Winner: Brazil with my full chest. Something just tells me the Samba Boys could win an unlikely six title. Weather favours them too.

Golden Boot: Mbappe/Kane.

Tournament MVP: Vinicius if Brazil wins. He will be absolutely key to them winning.

Breakout Star: Yamal.

Golden Gloves: Allison Becker.

Surprise Team: Norway. Think Haaland and Odegaard will reck havoc.

African Team: Tipping Ivory Coast to reach the Quarters, Senegal don't look too dynamic, Morocco don't have that surprise factor again.

I was not impressed with Senegal's play at AFCON except for their performance against Morocco in the finals. An average USA team completely outplayed them, and they should have lost that game by a margin of three to four goals. I am currently watching them against Saudi Arabia, and everything about their play seems like a sluggish, lazy, predictable type of football. They are very easy to be opened up by their bad organisation and slow defenders. I don't think this team is well coached. This Senegalese team I am watching will lose against France and Norway for sure, and that Haiti game will be a struggle. There is a lot of talent on the team, but they are not playing like a well-coached team. I am currently watching the game with my Norwegian friends. They feel very confident that they will turn this Senegalese team over when they meet. My hope for this World Cup among African teams is really pinned on Ivory Coast and Morocco. Algeria and Egypt might surprise, but the rest are going there to mark attendance.
I was praying for us to catch Senegal in that final but alas Morocco defeated us.

EEGA:
Arthur Okonkwo kept a clean sheet against Zimbabwe 2-0(Nwabali conceded against them in AFCON qualifiers).

Against Jamaica 3-0(another clean sheet).Nwabali conceded 2 against them in the final of last 2 editions of Unity cup, with the match ending in 2-2 draw with the Super Eagles winning on penalties.

Okoye conceded 2 against Poland and shouldn't start the game against Portugal.

Arthur Okonkwo deserves a start.Okoye can replace him in the 2nd-Half.
Okoye should start. One thing that has likely affected him is the cut and join nature of his appearances. We've never allowed him to get into rhythm. Once he makes one mistake, we put him by the side, never allowing his confidence to build to the point of overcoming his mistakes.

He should start.

He is ambidextrous from what I have seen. Has better dribbling skills and quicker off the block than Bewene. I have the feeling that Chelle may just give him a baptism of fire.

I hope the Super Eagles agree on a Portuguese jersey sharing plan before the game to avoid the Finidi-Simon situation again on a much bigger scale🤣🤣

Let the players cast lots on who gets the Ronaldo shirt or just concede it to Iwobi as his 100 caps gift😁
