They are fighting a War they cannot Win, with an Opponent that is far more powerful than them and has more Resources than them.
Before i go to the UK, let us take Germany for example: It is an economy based on Engineering and Production.
And they were very competitive because their Industries have access to cheap Oil and Gas from Russia,

But out of Xenophobia (especially by their Leaders), they allowed America and Ukraine to plot the sabotage of the Two, Direct Pipes bringing Russian Oil and Gas to their Country (The Nord stream 1 & 2).
Today, over half of German Industries have shut down. Those that are still in production are doing so because of Govt patronage to produce W3@pons!
From Mercedes, to Volkswagen, to BMW, Audi, etc, their automotive Industry is gone, due to lack of cheap-enough Energy.

Now, Britain used to be a World Power and Empire, but in the last 15yrs, they have been blessed with series of incompetent Leaders (an Europe-wide problem) that continue to make Policy Decisions that is ruining the Country.
When Leaders ruin the Country, it is the Poorest Citizens that feel the pinch the most, due to low disposable income.
