Kog45:Right now Fernandez is ahead of Ajayi Maybe not Ogbu but Nwaiwu is definitely going to displace him soon...now when Benjamin Frederick returns, both of us know what that means for Ajayi. |

SymphonyRad:Why did Ajayi play CB against Congo when Benjamin was fit? Stop talking trash. Benjamin got opportunity to play because Ajayi was rusty. He didn't get to play at the beginning of the season but as soon as he got playing time, he was called immediately. That tells you how much Chelle rates him. Moreover, Ajayi has played regularly in AFCON and contributed in getting us to the finals. Until the aforementioned players get us to that level, we can have a reasonable debate but for now, they are understudying Ajayi. Of course, Ajayi is old and we can start looking for his replacement. I mean age and future planning are the only factors that will relegate Ajayi in that team. No mu.mu coach will drop him for juveniles. |

SymphonyRad:Oga,see there are things am always frowning at,is picking a player and keep on analysing all his movements on the field and leaving others...better for you to pick all the players involved in Portugal match for thorough analysis, their movements and how we conceded the two goals and way out...pls post it here, you will be aporeciated more cuz going to match rating Ajayi was not poor |

Kog45:Ajayi was very poor in that came the reason he was yanked off in the second half by chelle |

Sugarboyy:Possession won in the final third per 90 In the turkish super league has Osimhen sitting 3rd in the stats ranking. He is the only Center Forward in the top three. Osimhen's game is not just about scoring goals, there are lots of things he brings to his game. Yes, Osimhen's presence would have changed a narrative in the match. |

SymphonyRad:Fernandez is ahead of Ajayi and was on the bench against Portugal..you said Ogbu would have started if not for injury, now you used maybe not Ogbuu...again Nwaiwu is definitely displacing him soon...Benjamin Frederick returns Ajayi out of the team....all these on Ajayi, meaniny you do not rate him. When i saw your comments on himmy submission was not Ajayi of Afcon, cuz you are using Portugal match to drive your points,i needed to watch the match again and i discovered that Ajayi is not your player. Semi Ajayi time with eagles is limited so all these Ogbu,Fernadez,Nwaiwu and Frederick talks not new to real football pundits here....big question would they measure to CBs who have played for eagles now retired |

charlesemeka85:He was not poor in any way defensively. What are you people on about? Every thing he did wrong, he did in an offensive position just like Bassey did at times. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Kog45(m): 1:08pm On Jun 12 |
Meliforme:Oga Meli, the match was a friendly match but big question in a competitive match can you stake it that Nigeria will beat Portugal. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Napoleon55(m): 1:11pm On Jun 12 |
charlesemeka85:Yet we conceded after he was yanked off. Yanking him off and pairing Bruno with Bassey is not the right move. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Kog45(m): 1:12pm On Jun 12 |
charlesemeka85:He was substituted like other players not yanked off....so Ndidi too was yanked off too,Nigeria made four changes in that minutes or you forgot |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Sugarboyy(m): 1:12pm On Jun 12 |
charlesemeka85:I don't think Ajayi was very poor, rather I feel it was just his normal way of defending. Aside being good aerially, to me he doesn't have any other qualities as a defender. I will pick Fernandez, Nwaiwu and Fredrick over Ajayi in the SE CB position. That said, I don't think Chelle removed Ajayi in that match because he was playing badly, rather to test new formation and that's why Bruno a left footed was moved to the CB to pair Bassey, another left footed when Fernandez was on the bench |

Kog45:There is no team that can't be beating in a competitive match. Didn't Morocco beat Portugal at the last WC? During the Guardiola days at Barcelona, smaller teams were still beating Barcelona |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Napoleon55(m): 1:19pm On Jun 12 |
Kog45:In a knockout game,Portugal is taking us out, however, in a WC group match, it's possible we can win them especially if it's our first game,or we can play draw. I don't think the Portuguese national team would ever scare us even with their star studded team. |

SymphonyRad:Are you talking about this cross? Who was the player that was nearest to the crosser? Who was closer between Ajayi and Akpan? Where was Bassey? ![]() Na lie full una mouth. You just singled out Ajayi out of 4 players. Wow!!! Goalkeeper self mess up. Him for run out.

forgiveness:Some of you guys can't seem to understand that there are levels to football. If Nigeria's Super Eagles are serious about winning the AFCON or perhaps making a deep run in the 2030 World Cup, a player like Semi Ajayi needs to be weeded out of the team. I have nothing against Semi Ajayi; he has represented his country well and, to be honest with you, has performed better than significantly more talented players in that position. There are levels to this game, mate. Did you even watch the South Korea game yesterday? Did you not see how every single South Korean player on that team was completely comfortable on the ball and could run and advance with the ball and how they all could thread the ball comfortably to the midfielders without aimlessly booting the ball down the field? Semi Ajayi is not a ball-playing defender, and every time he gets the ball, he simply does not have the ability to comfortably carry the ball and thread in a pass to a midfielder. Go back and watch Nigeria vs. Morocco and see how the Moroccan coach specifically tasked his players to press hard against Nigeria every time the ball goes to Semi Ajayi. Benjamin Fedricks, Emmnuel Fernandez, and Chibuike Nwaiwu are ball-playing defenders. These are the kind of players that take a team to a different level because they can advance with the ball and they can thread a pass to a midfielder in behind a hard press. This is the reason Emmanuel Fernandes is attracting interest from Dortmund; Benjamin Fredricks will soon be a starter at Brentford and Bayer. Laverkusen submitted 20 million euros for Nwaiwu, which Trabzonspor rejected. Seyi Ajayi has done well for Nigeria, but he is a limited player, and there are levels to this game, mate. If Nigeria wants to get back to the levels we were in in the 90s, players like Semi Ajayi and Sanusi should be thanked for their services and retired from the national team. Good guys but are simply limited players. |

Sugarboyy:True, but the question is if u are to stake money, let's say one million naira for a world cup match between Portugal and Nigeria, would u stake it for Nigeria to win? |

Napoleon55:And when the newbies are overwhelmed in a tournament, they will discard him and start searching for another "hero". The thing just tire me. Some people don dey yan make dem commot Osimhen self. Kkkkkkkkk. Dudes were joking. |

yinkeys:That’s why we need more of these games to improve and all our players must be available. We can’t afford to have a team that won’t be competitive among bigger football nations. We can’t be beating Mozambique 4-0 and freeze against Senegal or CIV. that’s why these bigge friendly games matter |

EElopa:Who is talking about 2030 world cup? We are taking about the match against Portugal and his performance so far in green white green. If Ajayi wasn't good enough, you think say you go reach AFCON final or do well in last AFCON? Please, stop joking here. Ajayi is still good for the next AFCON. EOD. Claiming Ajayi didn't thread the ball forward showed you didn't watch the match against Portugal because that was exactly what him and Bassey did. Oga! Go watch match again. Morocco match that we dominated? ![]() My friend, if not for referee, we for win Dat match. |

EElopa:Until Nwaiwu,Fernandez and Fernandez can prove they are far better options to pair Bassey in competitive matches, we are not going to drop Ajayi. Pls always try to give spaces between your writings, like paragraphs,to make easier for anyone to read. |

EElopa:If you read the comments on Ajayi against Portugal then you would have understood the discussion better.... General submission,Ajayi has limited time with eagles based on new players coming up but using Portugal match to send him away just like that is not acceptable. He did not messed up as some wanted us to believe.....when time for Christian Chuckwu to retire,he left Keshi in...Keshi left Okechuckwu step in fully...Okechuckwu left Yobo came in...Yobo left Omeruo entered.....Omeruo comot Ekong in....Ekong left Frederick in....Ajayi will go very soon....and player to step in are Ogbu,Nwaiwu and Fernadez. |

forgiveness:Please, I don't want to make this a Semi Ajayi bashing day. Semi Ajayi has been a championship-level player throughout his career for a reason, mate. He is a limited player. If we want a Super Eagles that will continue to struggle to impose themselves against the elite teams in the world, then we should continue to invite players with limited technical ability, like Semi Ajayi and Sanusi. I am trying not to be disrespectful to you and Semi Ajayi, but if you simply cannot see that Semi Ajayi is not a ball-playing defender, then I don't see the point of arguing with you because I am not sure you actually understand the game you are watching. |
